Product Spotlight: Flesh Fleshy Lips Lipstick

March 14th, 2019 by Karen 10 Comments

flesh fleshy lips lipstick
Like your lips, but better. Four of the 10 shades of Flesh Fleshy Lips Lipstick ($18 each)

These creamy, lightweight lippies feel like a mad makeup scientist’s ?‍? creative combo of a balm and a lipstick, and they come in natural lip tones.

I’ve been so inspired lately by “there but not obviously there” makeup and “makeup for no-makeup makeup lovers…”

I don’t know if any of that made any sense at all, ha ha! ? I haven’t had enough coffee ☕ yet, but y’all know what I’m talking about. I’m talking about noticeable products with decent coverage that aren’t necessarily pedal-to-the-metal intense.

The $18 Fleshy Lips Lipsticks by Flesh fit purr-fectly into that lane. They’re lightweight and glossy medium-coverage lippies a la Clinique’s iconic Almost Lipstick in Black Honey, only slightly more intense, and they’re available in lots of your-lips-but-better shades.

They’re the kind of sheer-ish lipsticks you’d wear with mascara, tinted moisturizer and cream blush, and the type of tube you stick in your pocket when you’re going to lunch and shopping with a girlfriend.

My lip freckles peek through when I’m wearing them, but the tint is still noticeable. If you’re wearing one and bump into a buddy who knows a thing or two about makeup, he or she might ask, “Hey, what’s that YLBB lipstick?”

OK, but what’s the scent situation, you may be wondering? Well, it’s a whole lotta nothing! — because they aren’t scented or flavored.

And the formula feels great on my dry lips, BTW. I normally reapply them every few hours.

I like these kind of colors too, they are great combined with a smokey eye to pair that down a little for every day. And the hydrating and scent free formula sounds convincing too.
Although I have to say I am partial to a bit of MAC vanilla scents in lippies of any kind.

I’m loving the sound of this! If maybe not all of the unfortunate color names… Moist? Gorge? Lick? Ugh.

Anyhow, I’m working on perfecting my no-makeup makeup game for the upcoming 6-7 months of Florida summer, so these lower profile lippies are coming along at the right time.

Yeah, I can’t even go there with the name “Moist.” EWWWWW!

You guys in Florida have that crazy humidity, if I can recall correctly? (Last time I was there was for a wedding, years ago.) Do you bother with wearing concealer and foundation/tinted moisturizer? Or do you just skip it?

Oh gosh, yes to the humidity. In the worst of summer, it’s not unusual for temperature and humidity to be the same- 98 degrees and 98% humidity, for example.

I wear foundation if it’s an important occasion, but mostly I stick to tinted moisturizer. That seems to actually stay on my face, whereas foundation sweats off pretty quickly. I seldom go out without any makeup at all; I have some anxiety issues and I’ve found that having even just a little makeup on helps. Kind of a ‘game face’, I guess, lol.

Oh, that’s killer. I’ve been in that type of intense humidity before and it just weighs on ya! Thank goodness for air conditioning.

Totally with you on makeup being part of one’s game face. Don’t mess with me when I’m wearing red lipstick, man!

I like sheer lip colors in summer. Chew looks really pretty. I haven’t tried any of the Flesh products yet. You’re making me want to give them a whirl, though.

Flesh’s product names just bring out the 13 year old boy in me.
