I purchased this bra to wear to a funeral.
Wait — stay with me.
I purchased it for the passing of my thirty-seventh year, also known as my birthday.
I was kind of emotional that day, to be completely honest. After taking stock of my life and my accomplishments the past year, I just felt like I should’ve done more, been better, seen more things…
I don’t know… Maybe I shouldn’t have watched Jiro Dreams of Sushi so many times this year.
The day before my bday, I got myself to Nordstrom to look for a pair of birthday shoes (it was during the tail end their semi-annual shoe sale), but for the life of me, I couldn’t find the perfect pair.
Their inventory had already been picked over by early risers and seasoned shopping vultures, and what remained were the leftover, forgotten bones of unwanted heels withering in the wasteland of sad temporary shelving…
Dejected and disappointed, I lumbered over to the lingerie department, hoping to find a cute bra to wear on the first day of my thirty-eighth year, one that would make me feel girlie and special.
That’s when I discovered the $28 Kensie ‘Jamie’ Lace Trim Bralette [INSERT IMAGE OF ME STANDING ON A TABLE AND DOING THE RUNNING MAN]. 🙂
I liked it so much that I walked out of the store with two of them, and I haven’t ruled out going back for more.
Of all the modern, girlie inventions/conveniences, bralettes are easily top 10 for me. Maybe even top five.
While offering less support than underwire bras, they sure can be comfy and cute.
They’re great when all I want to do is couch surf or bum around town in flip-flops. Less binding and restrictive than many other bras, they still offer enough support to keep the girls from flapping all over the place.
And these lace-trimmed ones from Kensie are fab! They’re cute, stretchy, and I love wearing them around the house or out and about as a layering piece; I think the lace looks adorable under low-cut tanks and tees.
Details & Care
Wide pieces of contrasting lace trim the cups and create the bottom band of a soft, stretchy bralette ideal for smaller figures.
- Slips on over head
- Adjustable straps
- Rayon/spandex; machine wash
- By Kensie; imported
Oh, and have I mentioned how comfy they are? The material feels soft, and the lace isn’t itchy. There also aren’t any scratchy tags to deal with. 🙂
My new favorite bra for casual comfort, birthdays and high-intensity relaxing.
Look for the Kensie ‘Jamie’ Lace Trim Bralette now at Nordstrom stores and online.

I love lace detailing 🙂 Glad it isn’t itchy, the worst is when you find a cute bra/bralette with lace and the material just makes you itch the whole time you’re wearing it!
Karen says
Hi Lauren,
I can’t deal with any itchiness when it comes to bras. They have to be comfy, comfy, comfy!
Rachel says
Those are totes adorbs, Karen! One thing about being flat-chested (like me) is you look cuter in bras!
Karen says
Hi Rachel,
These bras rock. I think you’d love ’em! 😀

I love them! I have recently bought bandeaus to wear under low back tops and these would be perfect, too. They seem like a great option for a “no bra” day (or, as Rodney Carrington says, “set those puppies free”), where you need to be somewhat presentable but going braless isn’t entirely an option. I would also probably wear them for yoga in my house, they look soooo comfy!
Karen says
Hi Katherine,
I haven’t done yoga in these but I have done push ups. And they’re great for that.
Aww, you officially changed your handle! Too cute.
Congrats again on the wedding. You looked beautiful in your pics.

These bra’s are so cute and colorful! I need underwire for everyday wear but I like light weight bras like these to wear under my lounge around the house pajamas. They look like something you could get at Target too. If you ever catch Neimen Marcus during their lingerie sale they really have some good deals on pretty underthings!
Karen says
Hi Denise!
I didn’t know Neiman Marcus had a lingerie sale. Off to google it and add it to my calendar. 🙂 Maybe I can find some Chantelle bras there on sale. They’re my favorite, but ouch, the price!
Hope you had a nice day. Is it Friday yet?!

I want one!!! Or two 😉
Karen says
Hi Gina,
They are worthy of stocking up on, I think! 🙂

karen, these are so pretty and I would try them except I have what I call “mighty nips.” um, in other words, they make me look like I’m always cold. is there enough coverage so that I wouldn’t be all raisining out for all to see?
Jennifer says
SO CUTE! But they would not hold my full c’s!

Not ashamed to say I own 8 of these in all different colors. I started collecting last year. They hold up REALLY well through multiple washes and are the perfect layering piece under loose maxi dresses in summer. I practically live in them. Actually, I’m wearing one now!
Karen says
Hi Jamie,
Nice! I’m on my way there to building a collection, I think. I love them!
Vanessa says
Man. Those are cute! 🙂
