LORAC Silver Screen Palette Warm Look Face of the Day

November 9th, 2009 by Karen 48 Comments

lorac silver screen palette warm look 2

Today I felt like putting the lovely LORAC Silver Screen palette to work, specifically the warm eyeshadows from the first row, the matte rose blush and the Lip Polish, and I even followed the convenient tutorial on the back of the box (with some minor adjustments for added punch). 🙂

To the recipe on the back, I added a base of MAC Paint Pot in Painterly beneath the shadows and black liquid liner on my upper lash line.

A few things about the warm shadows…

  • All four contain a whisper of shimmer; it was actually subtler than I expected
  • No. 3, the warmest of the bunch, shimmers in brown with strong orange undertones
  • The rest of the shadows (1, 2 and 4) kinda lean toward neutral

I’m mostly happy with the way the look turned out, but I think I could’ve done a better job blending the darkest brown… Something to work on next time.

Whaddaya think of the palette?

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

P.S. Time for a late lunch. I’m craving PB&J, BIG TIME! 🙂

This looks very soft and pretty. Perfect for everyday because the shimmer is so subtle. Would this be your new staple day look? I like your hair today btw, the waves and volume are working for you.

The look came out great! It really does give your face a “warm look” 🙂 Blending dark shadows can sometimes be tricky; it will look a lot more blended in front of the bathroom mirror than it looks in photography.. Occasionally a problem for me when it comes to dark colors.. Hmph! 🙁

Overall, did you enjoy your Monday? Did you take that trip to Sephora after all? (Saw that tweet you posted this afternoon..) Btw – I need to go take care of business there asap! (AKA, spend the MAC & Sephora giftcards I got for my 20th Bday last Tuesday! My mama & sister know exactly what I like! Ha!) Isnt it so much more fun to spend somebody else’s hard earned money on pricey cosmetics? Haha! Have a goodnight & I hope your Tuesday goes smoooothly tomorrow.

I didn’t end up going yesterday. I figured I needed to work out more (ugh) so I did some cardio and about a billion situps.

      Hi Christina and Inday,

Honestly it usually looks like a bird’s next; yesterday was one of those rare exceptions. I curled sections with a large barrel curling iron, let the curls cool, and then worked some styling product through it to smooth out the frizzies (this stuff by wella… review coming soon!).

Another thing could you try is doing a loose French braid at night before bed. Rub some styling product in (like a gel), do a loose braid and then go to sleep. In the morning you’ll have loose waves!

Wow Karen, that’s one of your best looks yet!

Please don’t take this the wrong way because you always look pretty, but I think that first shade is a much more flattering brow highlighter on you. I know that’s totally a matter of personal preference though 😀

You did a fantastic job blending that dark color btw, so I’m not sure what that crazy talk was all about! heh he

Loving that lip color too. I bet this set would look like crap on a ghostly pale girl like me though. Guess I will keep playing with my Tarte Treasure Chest (and am eagerly awaiting my Coastal Scents 88 palette!). You’ve turned me into an eyeshadow wearer LOL

    Have a good evening all!

    Anastasia.

Hey, Just wanted to say that based simply on this FOTD, I went out and bought the palette yesterday! I just finished trying it for the first time (I’m glad you had a photo of the back – I left the box at home) and I love it!

I used the pink blush and it worked well (I’m extremely pale with cool skintone). The dark color is definitely harder to blend but it was relatively easy to do even though I’m actually sitting at my desk (thank god for tall cubicle walls)! It only took a couple minutes and it was way easier to quickly shove back into my purse when I finished versus putting numerous pans away.
