Chanel Les Naturels de Chanel Face of the Day

June 18th, 2009 by Karen 63 Comments

chanel les naturels de chanel fotd 2

Happy Thursday, ladies! How’s your day coming along? This morning I wanted to play with the Chanel Les Naturels de Chanel Eyeshadows and Smashbox Limitless Long Wear Lip Gloss in Nonstop (hot pink in the hizz!), so I grabbed both and put them to use in this face of the day. 🙂

chanel-les-naturels-de-chanel-fotd-eye

That’s Lotus, Lily, Mahogany and Slate on my eyes, layered beneath Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadow in Birthday Suit.

To balance out the blinged-out lips, I went with a neutral cheek and applied Chanel Joues Contraste Blush in Orchid Rose ($42, also from the Les Naturels de Chanel collection), a pinkish brown blush with a touch of shimmer, onto the apples of both cheeks.

And for added glow, I swept Clarins Instant Sun Light Summer Glow Palette on the upper cheek bones.

It’s easy to turn a look like this into something more wearable for work by switching the hot pink lip for a beige, brown or light pink one.

Swapping Nonstop for Chanel Rouge Allure Lipstick in Curious (a creamy toasted almond) and Chanel Glossimer in Unity (a shimmery pinkish brown) takes the look from “I’m ready for a mojito” to “I’m ready to fill out those TPS reports.”

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

      Hi YadiQ,

Girl, that’s why I carry a big purse when I go to the MAC counter. It’s easier to sneak it back into the house, hee hee! 🙂

I’m glad you like this look! I always think of you as a brights girl… would you ever wear this?

      Hi LayLa,

Thank you! 🙂 I am happy with how this turned out, too.

You can do the same look with a couple of MAC dupes… Ricepaper or Shroom could replace Lotus, you could use something like Showstopper or any deep, dark brown on the lid and lower lash line.

      Happy Thursday!

    Hi Karen,
I have seen a lot of pictures of you (of course! ;-), but this one in particular (the one juste after your sentence “And for added glow, I swept Clarins Instant Sun Light Summer Glow Palette on the upper cheek bones.”) is my favourite! You are very BEAUTIFUL on that picture! I don’t know if it’s your pose, your smile, the glow on your skin, the way you have applied your makeup or the color of your lipstick, but its really a good picture.
I think I’ll buy the Curious shade, I love it!
Thank you for making me discover it!

yeah i love my brights and neutrals tend to bore me to tears but this isnt your average neutral application – this whole week i have been lazy and i have just been doing washes of this shimmery champagne fluid irredelle from chanel, black liner and mascara and i called it a day. i love dramatic neutrals and you totally did this right! i have a really nice neutral compact set from chanel i got a couple years back i will have to compare the colors to see if i can swap them out with the compact colors – you have inspired me with this neutral application – who knew i could be excited about neutral colors lol !

Wow you look amazing! Thanks for showing us the look you can create with the Chanels I now need all of them! I love how by just changing the lip colour takes you from office to par-tay! I also think I need orchid rose – my Chanel fixation never ceases and I am constantly broke!

I agree with all the above comments. This is an amazing look for you. I read your blog faithfully everday and deeply enjoy-so keep up the good work. I saw these colors in person and I knew they would be wonderful on. Chanel does wonderful neutrals and shades that you keep going back to. The only thing better would be a quad with all these colors. I can dream!

Hi there! I’m Karen, your friendly neighborhood beauty addict, and I’m a Bay Area girl who hoards brown eyeshadow and covets coral lipstick. Every morning, I wake up and say, “I’m going to do something other than a smoky eye today.” Then…I end up doing a smoky eye anyway (most days). When I’m not putting on makeup, taking pictures of makeup or writing about makeup, which I’ve been doing daily since 2007 (!), you’ll find me hanging out with my hubby (“El Hub”), my four-year-old daughter (Connor Claire) and my torbie girl cat (Pretty Girl Rosie, a.k.a.
