A Little Bit of Rock N’ Roll with MAC Art Supplies

March 24th, 2010 by Karen 73 Comments

Every day this week I’ve been hitting the ground running (on a treadmill, that is). We’ll see how long it lasts, but I’ve been going for a run first thing in the mornings. Fittingly, the first song on my iPod’s workout playlist today was Motley Crue’s Home Sweet Home, and it FIRED ME UP! — so much so that I felt like rock n’ rolling into some pink and purple makeup for my face of the day.

I used a couple of items from MAC’s permanent line along with an Estee Lauder Michael Kors blush and two things from the new MAC Art Supplies collection (Pro Longwear Lipstain in Stylesetter, and Pearglide Liner in Designer Purple).

Drop me a line in the comments if you’d like to see a tutorial of this look.

Eyes: MAC Eyeshadow in Ricepaper (entire eye), MAC Pigment in Pink Pearl (lid), MAC Pearlglide liner in Designer Purple (lashlines), MAC Technakohl in Graphblack (waterlines), MAC Studio Fix lash (lashes); Cheeks: Estee Lauder Michael Kors Blush in Sunset Pink (apples), Benefit Hoola (contour beneath apples); Lips: MAC Pro Longwear Lipstain in Stylesetter, MAC Cremesheen Glass in Petite Indulgence

I think I might try another version later this week with a more dramatic wing using the sparkly liner… It feels like there’s still more room to rock. 🙂

What kind of look did you wear today?

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

Ooh, I love the colours! I’d love to see the look with a more dramatic wing. I’m into neutrals these days… but once in a while I like to go all out with something crazy!

I love the LM Oil-free on you! What color are you wearing? The MUAs at the counter matched me to Sunny Beige and I think it’s too light for myself (NC 30-35).

Don’t take this the wrong way, but the stripped shirt reminds me of an outfit worn recently by one of the contestants on RuPaul’s Drag Race 2 (on vh1). And she’s really pretty, so it’s a compliment.

Are you watching that, btw? Talk about makeup! It’s ProjRun-meets-ANTM.

I love that! I am totally buying designer purple pearlglide, stylesetter lip stain, and the petite indulgence cremesheen glass.

i also always use benefit hoola to contour before putting blush on. lately i have been contouring with hoola and using sugarbomb as blush. i am fair skinned and if you blend it enough i think hoola works well as a contour.

My favorite song that surprises me as I’m running on the treadmill is Van Halen’s, “Hot for Teacher” or Motorhead’s “Ace of Spades” – yes girl, I need to rock out on my iPod to get my booty realy moving. If I’m trying to keep a long uphill (walking) pace I switch to either Jay-Z, Mariah or Lady Gaga. you can imagine how bummed I am to go to the gym and discover that I forgot to bring my iPod. Oh and bonus points if my Spin teacher pops in some 80’s music during class!

Okay enough of working out on to LOTD

eyes (MAC): groundwork p/p, All Races – lid, coquette – crease, Love Lace – outer V, Femme Fi – highlight, Sense of Style upper lash line, UD’s Underground bottom water line, lots of MAC Plush Lash

    Cheek: MAC Prim and Proper

lips: MAC whirl pencil/Ample Pink plushglass.

I read that blue really makes your brown eyes pop so I’m trying to incorporate more blue into my spring eye looks – therefore, I NEED EL’s Aqua Flash!! hahhaha

OOooOOh I love me some Van Halen “Jump.” I could seriously listen to that on repeat. Have you ever had your iPod die on you in the middle of a workout at the gym? I have and it totes sucks!

Your look sounds really pretty! And yes, you’re right — blues do wonders for brown eyes (so do greens and purples, methinks).
