A Friday Face of the Day With the New Make Up For Ever Aqua Shadows

Dang, it’s hot out here in Nor Cal today! It must be in the low 80s. That, or I’m just not at all used to the warmer weather yet.

To hurry up and get into the spirit of swimming pools and water parks, I thought I’d bust out a few of the new waterproof Make Up For Ever Aqua Shadows ($20 each) for my makeup today.

The Aqua Shadows, which are available now at Sephora, are a new line of long-lasting waterproof eyeshadow crayons. They come in 12 smudge-resistant shades designed to resist fading and creasing just as much as they resist water (more on that in a minute).

Apply, count to five (or 10, to be safe), and then bring on the water!

A few things about the Make Up For Ever Aqua Shadows…

  • Easy does it with these. My lids turn into cake central when I over-apply.
  • From my experience, they live up to the “Aqua” in their name, resisting water like our resident tabby cat. They also last all day long for me, but I do get some creasing when I wear them without an eye primer.
  • They feel drier and thicker than some of the other shadow pencils I’ve tried, like Urban Decay’s 24/7 Glide-On Eyeshadow Pencils and the NARS Soft Touch Shadow Pencils, and take a little more time and effort to blend.

For this look, I also used a few other Make Up For Ever favorites that I recently noticed at Sephora — the Compact Shine On Powder highlighter ($30; comes in two shades), Sculpting Blush ($25; available in four shades) and Mat Bronze bronzing powder ($32; available in two shades).

I think I’m going through a cream eyeshadow phase…I just can’t get enough of them! 30E looks like my kinda color, is it very similar to Urban Decay Sin? I did try something new today; I used MAC In Extra Dimension skinfinish in Superb as an eyeshadow…and it looks superb hehe 🙂

You look gorgeous and glowy in that last pic! I purchased a MUFE aqua pencil a year ago from their NYC store, but I don’t see that shade online at Sephora. It did crease on me so maybe they changed their formula?

You look gorgeous in these pics! So effortlessly glowy! If these don’t crease with a primer, they still sound pretty good. I like the neutrals they put out too!

I was playing with Dior Aurora palette, the Turquoise waterproof eyeliner, and Guerlain Shine Automatique today. It was hella fun, and I can’t wait to work the pictures into my posts!

    You look lovely, Karen.

Mufe is my favorite brand so when my friend gave me a $100 gift card, I ran straight to Sephora. I snatched up the bright coral sculpting blush, a bronzer and a highlight powder. I adore all three.

I can’t wait to get the aqua pencils and the new aqua creams. I own several already.

I am OBSESSED with that blush!! For some reason, I have yet to try out any Make Up For Ever blushes–so silly of me! The blush looks like the perfect shade of pink for me!! Now I am rethinking my schedule for the day, wondering if I can squeeze in some time to stop by the mall and pick this up 🙂

All I’m wearing today ius sunscreen and clear gloss, but last night I went all out to go out to dinner and Improv with hubby. I used the NARS 25 year palette plus a few other things. On my face I used Benefit Oxygen foundation set with Bobbi Brown loose powder. I bronzed with Bobbi’s matte bronzer in light medium 02 then used Orgasm blush from the palette. On my eyes I lined with Maybelline color tattoo in taupe, waterlined/tightlined with tarte black emphasEYES, then used the creamy light beige from the NARS palette all over the eye from lask line to brow, the lighter silver on the lid, then a touch of the steely blue grey in the outer corner, then finished with Buxom lash mascara. Lips were Jordana EasyShine in cotton candy. It was really pretty and easy.
