For the record, I absolutely did *not* look this fabulous on Thanksgiving (this was from the day before), and to the ladies who can pull off prepping a full T-day spread while looking fab, I salute you!
I wore the above 15-minute look the day before Thanksgiving when Connor and I dropped off Thanksgiving cookies and cards to our neighbors. Pretty simple, pretty classic and wearable, and done completely with permanent collections products!
As for my look on Thanksgiving day itself? — it was far less fashionable. I cooked all day long, and it was all I could do to run a brush through the mop on my head and change my pajama pants into joggers. ?
Please excuse my very non-Instagrammable mauve-toned Golden Girls-circa-1992 kitchen. It came with the house, and I make do with it because…eh, it works! #normalizeregularkitchens #itswhatigot
Anyway, the above pic was taken before the hurricane of baking and cooking happened, and waaaaaay before these happened…
These gluten-free cheesy cheddar garlic drop biscuits, which are like mini savory scones, were the last, and by far the best, T-giving thing I made this year. We had maple glazed ham as our main dish (no Turkey this year), and we sliced the biscuits in half and put a slice of ham in the middle. There was also Yukon gold mashed potatoes, a sweet corn casserole, homemade cranberry sauce, GF pumpkin pie and Christina Tossi’s Milk Bar Pumpkin Pie.
MAN. SO GOOD. I’m drooling just thinking about them again… They were so easy to make, too!
If you want the biscuit recipe, let me know, although I do have to warn you… There’s a lot of butter and cheese, so if you’re trying to make healthier food choices…it ain’t exactly health food.
Happy Friday. What are you up to today? Are you doing any Black Friday shopping?
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen
P.S. TGIF!

Hi Karen, please tell us the recipe for the biscuits, no matter how much butter they have inside.
About Black Friday, I only bought 2 Pat McGrath mascaras and the Lip fetish balm trio because everything was on sale $10 each mascara and 13 for the lipbalms. And a part of me is dying to try Glossier Cloud Paints but I’m unsure about them.
Stephanie Smith says
Try the Cloud Paint! I was unsure too, but they’re wonderful! They have almost a jelly consistency and they blend so easily. The finish is very natural and they’re buildable.
Karen says
I know a lot of people who love it. I haven’t gotten around to trying it myself (too obsessed with Chantecaille gel blush), but I know it’s very popular.
Bailey says
You look so pretty, Karen! And I love how high your countertops are! Note to self: get higher countertops.
Can you please give us the biscuit recipe? I usually make the gluten free garlic cheddar biscuits from a mix I get at Aldi but those are almost unbearably salty. Every once in a while I form the dough around hot dogs and make gf pigs in a blanket.
Karen says
Sure thing, Bailey! I’ve had several requests and so I’m hoping to have a post on it next week. Just gotta buy some more blocks of cheese so I can take pics!
That is GENIUS to put the dough around hot dogs. I just try that next!

Happy Holidays Karen Conner , Hubby and Tabs ,
This look is bomb! I love the look and the markup showing your products.
We painted my mom’s kitchen and took all the wallpaper and we found silver wall paper . literally the color of tinsel.
Karen says
Happy holidays Ericca! 🙂 Thanks for the feedback on the pic; I’ll try to do more of those in the future.
I hope you guys took pics of that crazy silver wall paper! It’s amazing the things you find in houses. We have an old fireplace that is covered up behind a wall. If I ever get around to it, I’m going to excavate it and put it back in place.

Those biscuits look just like Red Lobster’s! I would love the recipe! I’m glad you had a good Thanksgiving! I bet you have lots of leftovers so you won’t have to cook this weekend!
Karen says
Awesome, I’ll whip it up! I already have more cheese on my grocery list so I can make another batch and take some pics!
Hope you guys had a wonderful Thanksgiving. What did you end up having for the meal?
Rachel says
My plan was just to order take out because it was just going to be the boyfriend and I. Well his mom ended up joining us last minute, and every restaurant I called was closed! ?♀️ Luckily, my boyfriend had picked up Cajun stir fry and Cajun pasta the night before, so I just heated that up! Kind of a disaster and I had no backup plan!

Beautiful look! With so many LE releases it’s nice to do looks with classics from the permanent lines.
I think you also look beautiful in the pic with Connor! You can feel the love in that photo.
You also have hair I’m completely jealous of!
I never understand people who are able to cook in dress up clothes. I’m a hot, tired mess when I’m done cooking. Dear Daughter and Dear Husband both dressed for dinner last night. I came to the table with the roasted pork loin, garlic butter green beans and pureed potatoes in my jeans and a plaid, flannel shirt. I didn’t even take my apron off!
Dear Daughter made a graham cracker crust pumpkin ice cream pie. I didn’t eat the crust. I was happy with just the spiced pumpkin ice cream.
I’d love it if you shared the recipe for those cheesy drop biscuits. They look a lot like these little cheese puff/biscuit things Dear Husband loved at a local restaurant until it was forced out of business by redevelopment.
Karen says
Thank you! I felt really pretty in it and will definitely do it again! BTW I have about a pound of hairspray in my hair! ? My flyaways are like feral cats. They don’t wanna be tamed, LOL!
Your T-day sounds delightful and I know you’re a great cook so I’m sure you knocked it outta the park. Did your daughter make the ice cream from scratch for the pie?
Oh, and I’m working on the recipe as we speak. I just made my grocery list for the week and it includes two blocks of sharp cheddar cheese (!) so I can make two batches — one with gluten and the other without — and take pics along the way, too.
Tatiana says
I hear you on the fly away hairs. There are days I have so many fly aways I look like a crazed Einstein.
Yup, Dear Daughter made the ice cream from scratch using the early Christmas present ice cream maker Dear Husband bought her.
Yes, early Christmas presents (as well as early birthday presents0 are a thing in this household. Along with everyone gets three birthday dinners out on the town.

I love very non-Instagrammable pictures! REAL LIFE! Happy holidays big hugs from Greece!
Kim says
You look lovely! And the only thing I noticed about your kitchen was the child-proofing on the handles. I started to have a nostalgic sigh until I realized we still have them on our bathroom drawers. That’s how long I’ve been threatening to chuck that vanity. 🙂
Karen says
We have them all over the house! I seriously can’t wait ’til the day I can redo the cabinets. (Hopefully it’ll be before she leaves for college.)
How was your Thanksgiving?
