Latest Hair Obsessions: Kerastase Bain Elixir Ultime Shampoo and Masque Elixir Conditioner

October 30th, 2013 by Karen 23 Comments

I brought home both of these goodies after my last haircut on the recommendation of my stylist, Alis, and I lurve them.

My mop had been parched lately and was looking a little dull, especially the ends, for which Alis suggested Bain Elixir Ultime Shampoo ($42 for a 250ml bottle) and Masque Elixir Ultime ($65 for a 200ml jar), both by Kerastase.

BAIN ELIXIR ULTIME ($42)

A versatile, nourishing oil providing ultimate shine, softness and nourishment for all hair types

  • Silicone and paraben-free
  • Gently cleanses while nourishing and purifying
  • Strengthens hair, leaving it soft and shiny

MASQUE ELIXIR ULTIME ($65)

A beautifying oil treatment for all hair types

  • Revives and restores hair
  • Nourishes deep into the hair fiber
  • Pumps up the shine
  • Leaves hair feeling weightless

I was wary of the prices ($65 for a hair mask? OMG!), but Alis assured me that both products would last a good, long while, and I think she’s right. I’ve only been using a dollop of each one for my hair, which is pretty thick and unruly, so I should be able to stretch these out for — I’m hoping — 6 or more months.

Both of them contain a blend of oils — maize, pracaxi, camellia and argan — to soften and add incredible shine, without a lot of weight, and they’re recommended for all hair types.

Gotta say…I’m a believer! It’s only been a couple weeks, but I’m sure my mop is shinier, and the ends definitely feel less crunchy.

I also don’t feel like my hair has a coating/residue (ugh, hate that) after I rinse off in the shower, and best of all, after my hair dries, it still has a good deal of volume.

Both the Bain Elixir Ultime and Masque Elixir are available now.

    Karen,
Believe it or not i have been eyeing this line for 2 years or more now. I am just a little worried about the prices!

I have thick curly hair, and i am always trying to find something that works for me. So the kerastase oleo curl products have been on my wish list for so long now!

I should get my hands on them soon!

      Hi Chaitra,

Maybe try the mask first. If you love it, then go for the shampoo! 🙂

Why are you doing this to me? I had my eyes on the mask since the past few weeks, but since I already bought a couple of Kerastase products lately, I try to wait a couple of months until I buy something new. Now I want the shampoo too. Damn it!

I haven’t tried all of them yet but I bought Volumifique shampooing and conditioner, Oleo Relax mask, Ciment Thermique, Bain de Force Architecte and Ciment Anti-Usure. There was a sale so it was too good to pass up! I loved the Bain de Force (the regular version) and Ciment Anti-Usure in the past, not the best for super dry hair but it gave me sleek, voluminous hair. Everytime I used it, I had a good hair day.

And now I ordered the Elixir Ultime mask, it’s allll your fault! I’m not sure I’ll like the shampooing though so I’ll wait for this one.

Worth every penny ! I have been using the Kerastase line for over a year or so…recommended after I had over-processed my hair and other products I had tried to repair my hair were not working too well..the mask made my hair feel like silk and continued use has restored my once brittle, dry hair..a little of the product goes a long way…there is also a Elixir Ultime treatment oil that is my favorite of all..you can use it on wet or dry hair before styling and wow is it awesome!

I’ve heard good things about this line. My conditioning method for dry hair is a good rub of Parachute Coconut Oil.

I’m glad to hear you’re digging these, too! I have already repurchased the mask. It nourishes without adding much weight! The shampoo is the only shampoo that contains oil that I can use. Everything else I’ve tried makes my scalp grease up so much faster!

      Hi Sunny,

I have a feeling I’ll be repurchasing the mask, too.

Do you use anything else from Kerastase, Sunny?

I was gifted the Elixir styling oil and a masquintense mask. I love them both but they are so pricey I am going to be bummed when they run out! The mask isn’t lasting long since I am sharing it with my daughter and I use it religiously. UGH first world beauty budget problems…

Buuuuuuuuuuuuut have you tried the Elixir Ultime Oil???
If you put 3-4 pumps of the oil in the mask it’s even better!!!
I do that for my customers every time I use this mask ♥
