With the $22 JK Jemma Kidd Smoke It Up I-Kit, You Can Smolder for Less

September 29th, 2011 by Karen 27 Comments

JK Jemma Kidd Smoke It Up I Kit

Each of the five powder eyeshadows in the new $22 JK Jemma Kidd Smoke It Up I-Kit are so easy to blend that they could have been made by KitchenAid! — and with loads of pigment, they look and perform just like Jemma’s fab fall full-size shadows (which usually run $16 apiece).

The result is an affordable palette able to produce some of the quickest, easiest smokey eyes I’ve seen this fall. With lesser shadows, blending out the edges and layering darker shades can take (me) forever, but with the I-Kit I can bang out a smokey look in less than 10 minutes.

The shadows seem to lean toward the cool side of the color spectrum, so if you feel like you wear cool-toned shades well, that could be a good reason to give ’em a go. Keep a few makeup wipes handy, though, as I have noticed a bit of fallout from the darker shades.

PRICE: $22
AVAILABILITY: Available now at Target stores and also online

Now THAT sounds good! I’ve cool undertones and I’ve the blending ability of a possum. Grmpf to the fallout though, that stuff drives me crazy.. Need to check out the palette for that price, I’ll add that to my next SpaceNK trip!

It’s just a wee little bit, Advah! If you use a flat brush and a good primer you shouldn’t get much.

Will check it out when I get my NARS primer tomorrow. 🙂 So you definitely recommend the NARS one over UD Potion?

I don’t know if it’s the change of season, but I have crazy makeup envy lately!

These look like they’re easy colours to wear and blend, but none of them really wow me. Thank you for swatching these, Karen! 🙂 I know it’s a lot of work, and you do a great job.

oh what a lovely palette! kinda cool toned but w/ a warm base, it can totally work!

it reminds me of a bobbi brown palette, somehow!

Okay, I really like this. The price is awesome, especially when you consider how much single eye shadows of Jemma Kidd cost at Target. I think I’d like it even better if it was….colorful. 😉

I’m saving all my shadow money for surgery to correct my drooping lids. OK, I’m not really, but I think I should be! 🙂

Yeah, it looks awesome. I was surprised by how white the first swatch was. It looks sort of beige in the pan but, whoa, in the swatch! 🙂

    Karen,
I have got to say, your hair looks gorgeous with bangs, and these two pic s of you look fantastic. You look gorgeous!
If I had hair like yours, I would wear bangs, too, trouble or not! You really rock the look!

Hi Karen! Beautiful on you. How did you find the wear time of the shadows? (did you try them with or without primer too?) Just want to get an idea how long I can go without getting a greasy crease, lol.

Hi there! I’m Karen, your friendly neighborhood beauty addict, and I’m a Bay Area girl who hoards brown eyeshadow and covets coral lipstick. Every morning, I wake up and say, “I’m going to do something other than a smoky eye today.” Then…I end up doing a smoky eye anyway (most days). When I’m not putting on makeup, taking pictures of makeup or writing about makeup, which I’ve been doing daily since 2007 (!), you’ll find me hanging out with my hubby (“El Hub”), my four-year-old daughter (Connor Claire) and my torbie girl cat (Pretty Girl Rosie, a.k.a.
