Which of the 4 New Buxom Stay-There Eye Shadow Shades Will Be Leader of the Pack?

February 9th, 2011 by Karen 78 Comments

buxom stay there eye shadow swatches spring 2011

It appears that man’s best friend at Buxom has been seeing a makeup-loving woman on the side! Good morning and happy hump day, cutie. 🙂 Let’s get Wednesday off to a good start with a peek at the four new Buxom Stay-There Eye Shadow colors for spring 2011 ($17 each), which, like Buxom’s 10 previous Stay-There shades, are named after different breeds of dog (woof!).

What’s a Buxom Stay-There Eye Shadow?

With a plush, lightweight texture, these faithful beauty companions come in 14 waterproof shades. Non-greasy and long-wearing, the Buxom Stay-There shadows are always there when you need ’em, looking out for your pretty peepers with a mineral-infused, paraben-free formula enriched with Aloe and Vitamin E.

Tabs said he likes the idea, but he hopes Buxom considers adding a few feline colors to the line (and would like to offer his kitty modeling services if they do). While they mull that over, I’d like to submit a color suggestion if I may — Mystery Mutt, a shimmery golden brown, named after Shauna, my family’s beloved pooch.

Shauna the Wonderdog!

These just hit my desk, so I haven’t been able to test them for wear time yet, but I like the soft, spongy texture and blinged-out shimmer.

Here’s a quick look…

They’re great dogs. Good natured, loving, loyal… aww, now I want a pup!

Kinda random, but I talked so somebody last night about Jack Russell terriers and suddenly remembered the one that used to roam my old neighborhood and chase me while I was running. Gosh that dog was MEAN!

If Tabs had his way Buxom would dedicate an entire line to the kitties with colors like Stray Cat, Nine Lives and Paw Swipe. 😉

Cocker Spaniel looks pretty. I have the color Mutt and it is such a beautiful color! i would really recommend it for ladies with blue eyes (but really I think it would look good in almost anyone) these do crease a bit after 6 hours or so but this was without a primer under it. But I do love it and use it as my everyday lid color 🙂

I have it in Mutt also and agree with you about the wear time. With a primer though, I get about 12 hours. Mutt is is one of my designated go-to colors when I just want to swipe something on and go.

      Hi Andrea,

Yes, they’re creamy. The texture’s kinda neat. It’s not as dense as a MAC Paint Pot or a Benefit Creaseless Cream… it’s more fluffy/spongy. Try them out next time you’re at Sephora!

They’re very energetic… and unfortunately prone to running away. I’ve read so many stories about people letting their husky puppies go off leash and then the dogs just bolting. I guess they’re just doing what nature designed them to do.

I want collie so bad! That’s beautiful. Husky’s pretty too but I have blue eyes and I think collie would make them pop. How quickly do they dry? Is it slow enough to blend?
Also I would totally buy a cat line. My simese, russian blue, calico, mix Sugar agrees with Tabs. They could stick with breeds, tabby could be a deep brown, persian stark white, simese a pale highlight… it would be brilliant. Or they could name them things like kitty nip, purr, or whiskers… there’s a whole market of crazy cat ladies who would adore it.

      Hi Heidi,

I need to spend some more time playing with these but from the swatches I’ve noticed that you do get some leeway in the drying time.

BTW, what a cute name for a kitty! I had a neighbor who had a cat named Sugar and she was so playful and outgoing.

I like cocker spaniel. I like Collie too but I have a similar shade. It’s copper I think – by VS. Have you tried their loose powder eye shadows? They are really good – easy to blend, very pigmented, and stay for about 6 hrs on me without any primer or attempt at not touching my eyes 😀 And they are only $7 ish.

I have a question about these though – I love husky but I don’t like all over blue lids. Do you think these would work well with a brush as eyeliners?

      Hi Dharti,

You could probably rock these as liner if you used a stiff brush. You probably couldn’t a line that’s as crisp as you would with a gel liner like MAC Fluidline, but you could still do it.

I have 3 of the original colors – Black Lab (for a smokey eye), Mutt (bronze-taupe) and Pug (pewter). Mutt and Pug are my go-to shadows – and they actually last all day on me – even without a primer (but I normally do use a primer). I thought the amount was ridiculously tiny…but they last forever! They are shimmery, but not over-the-top – although I’d love it they would come out with some other finishes – not necessarily matte, but a satin would be nice.

The texture is wonderful, and I highly recommend buying the “special” brush – it’s absolutely perfect for applying these, although most likely any cream shadow brush would work, but this one is shaped perfectly, and is a little more “plush” than my other cream shadow brushes, which seems to work well with the spongy texture!
