I’ve had this on my mind since my buddy Yelena and I were chatting in the comments last week about the stuff of our makeup nightmares. Yelena’s is a world without brow products, and yeah…I have to admit, that would be pretty crappy, especially for my right brow, a.k.a. my “ghost brow,” a.k.a. the brow that disappears into oblivion.
My makeup nightmare scenario, however, is a world without every single option under the sun for glowing skin, because I can’t imagine my foundation drawer with, like, only one option! *shudders*
Some days I want a little shimmer; some days I want more matte; some days I want more coverage; and some days I want less… I quite love having lots of choices on any given day. I’ve morphed into a foundation junkie, I guess.
Don’t get me wrong — I still LOVE color and wearing lots of it on my eyes, cheeks and lips, but there’s just something about skin that looks like real skin that I find so satisfying these days… Go figure!
Anyway, please don’t ever, EVER take away my foundations. It would break my ❤️ heart!
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

I think I’m living it, I cannot figure out how to make the concealer under my eyes not crack and go all crepey. I’m only 31 this shouldn’t be a problem for me yet! I am currently trying to work with shape tape and I was using benefits erase paste before and I just cannot figure it out and it is so frustrating!

Have you tried the Age Rewind concealer from Maybelline? It’s designed not to sink into fine lines. I really like it!
Jade says
I tried it when it first came out but haven’t tried it since then, and have gained some fine lines and better makeup skills since then, I’ll have to try it again, thank you!

I have the same problem. It is really hard for concealer not to settle into fine lines though, it’s just the nature of the beast. However, the best products I’ve found (I’ve even tried Mayb’s Age Rewind and it didn’t do a good job at all for me) is NARS Soft Matte (It doesn’t have a lot of pigmentation though if you’re looking for that). And another stupendous concealer (I tried it after a recommendation from Wayne Goss a few years back) is Make Up Atelier Fluid Concealer. Not even expensive, and it’s so good. I haven’t used Tape Shape so I can’t compare it, but I think I will be repurchasing the Nars when I’m out (it’s lasted a long time already, unlike the Atelier, which is still awesome regardless).
Good luck!

Thank you for these suggestions I’ll have to give them a try!! I am looking for some pigmentation but will try that Atelier one for sure!

Hi Sweetness! I thought I was the only one who wanted different types of foundation looks on diff days. I’m so happy to hear that I’m not!!!!
There are some days I want full coverage, some days just light coverage, some days a little more glow-ie, etc.
I feel much better now!

I think my makeup nightmare would be if I suddenly became allergic to Chanel Rouge Coco lipsticks! I look so washed out without lipstick and this hydrating, no fuss formula is my saving grace. It looks great on and conditions my mature lips, creamy/super easy to swipe on, fades evenly and comes in a range of fun and “safe” colors. my lips now really depend on that little drawer that holds my Rouge coco collection.

I think mine would be if they limited the range of foundation shades. It’s only been in the last few years that makeup brands truly broadened out into the palest and darkest ends of the color spectrum.
Before that, I could either get foundation that had the right undertones, but wasn’t light enough, or one that was just one step away from white, with hardly any undertone at all. Now I’m having a blast trying out All. The. Foundations. (I got a mini size of Benefit’s Hello Happy Soft Blur Foundation literally just because of the smiley face bottle and it ended up being a perfect color match, lol.)

Same here! Back in the early 2000’s I had to save up for Lancôme foundation because all the drugstore brands were SO ORANGE on me!
I think my biggest makeup fear would be a world without lip balm. It’s the only product I genuinely use daily. Plain or tinted, drugstore or Dior, I love em all lol.

I’m amazed you can find so many foundations that are a match ! I’m the most neutral complexion and have only found one that works for me. Revlon colorstay fresh beige in the winter and I add some of It Cosmetics CC bronzer to it for the summer. All others are too yellow or too pink. It’s a struggle here 🙁

I so totally hear you. I would be embarrassed to tell you how many foundations I own. I have a small fortune tied up in foundation. I have some that are more comfortable to wear when it’s chilly and lighter formulas for when it’s hot. Then I have US foundation and Japanese. Oh I can’t forget French. And, don’t get me started on highlighters!

My nightmare is that I can’t find a foundation that works for me. Between being so fair, having neutral undertones, having allergies/sensitive skin, and having oily skin that likes to oxidize foundations, I have a tough time as it is.

Well Karen, I guess I’m that freak right now that literally has only one (gasp) foundation! I have managed to give all my others away to friends less fortunate than myself – which is what I usually do. I had several, and actually I do have four, but the shades are pretty off. I have the one that I’m currently wearing – when I wear it. I’ve not been doing much of that lately. I cannot even imagine having as many as you do. Now eyeshadow palettes? This is a different story.. LOL. UD’s new one is on my brain, and I’ve got a new one coming now that was on sale. Yep, I’m obsessed.
Still haven’t found my Gracie. My world will never be the same.

Mine would be living without lipsticks. They just transform a look so easily!

No mascara or Malice. I don’t even like to type it. I feel like I need to do an anti-jinx routine of some kind. 🙂

Foundations are actually my nightmare. LOL. Foundations do not play nice with my skin 🙁 I don’t know what it is, but I have this weird patchy/flaky skin on my nose and chin. I have oily, dehydrated skin. I can’t even use a brush to apply foundation as it always makes it hella worse. I have to use my fingers or a beauty blender, and I have to use it so sparingly. I’ve tried soooo many foundations. It’s just my skin. So I’ve focused on fixing my skin so I don’t need foundation (and thankfully it’s looking a lot better), but I still need some sort of cover up for redness. I would be chagrined to not have my amazing concealer that doesn’t accentuate my weird AF skin probs and an amazing light reflecting powder to further ‘fake’ good skin without a foundation base.
