I’m always curious to hear what you’re into ’cause I’m a nosy noodle like that. Myself, I’m in a bronzed lid/nude lip phase, which I know is more of a summertime ensemble, and it’s midwinter and pouring buckets here, but I’m rolling with it. Might as well let it work its way through my system. ?
Before this, I went through a taupe eyeshadow phase, and before that I was all about warm reds and oranges.
How ’bout you? What kind of makeup looks are you into at the moment?
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

Please share what you are wearing!

Hi Jenn,
It’s a whole lotta BECCA. BECCA Eye Lights Palette on my eyes and NARS Vibeke Lipstick on my lips. On my cheeks I’m wearing the BECCA Apres Skin Glow Face Palette.

I am actually feeling a bit fairy-goth but appropriate for late-40’s & the workplace, of course; to wit: MAC “Oyster Girl” Lipglass layered under various shades of cool brown, Pigment in Blue-Brown, lilac-toned Full of Joy blush!
Karen says
Love me some Oyster Girl. It’s so very 1999!
Sienna says
I’m mainly into heavy eyeliner and mascara with lipgloss or nude lip

I feel like I’m sooo done with the reds and oranges. Neutral-warm browns…ok sure. Bronze, yes. I just want some pretty, polished, simple, bronzey/taupey eye with a peachy cheek. More natural brows, juicy nudey lips (maybe just a gloss?).. And to just be comfortable! I mean, yes fun makeup is so fun. But even though I am a makeup JUNKIE and own way too much…i just want to have a break from the craziness!

I’m settling into the cooler, darker and more moody bay area weather with a smoky eye. I’ve been wearing KVD’s plum shade and light palette almost every day with a barely there blush and MAC Odyssey on the lips. I think I wear darker shadows in the winter and tend to go with more neutral looks in the summer–when my make up is more prone to crease and sweat off. LOL. Your look here is gorgeous, btw!
Karen says
Thanks, Kelly!

Changes depending on my mood and what I am doing, but am loving a pink/burgundy eye, and alternatively a soft bronze eye. I am loving not wearing eyeliner with neutral tones eye looks. In the winter I usually do dark lips with minimal eye but my lips have been so dry I just haven’t done it much.

Classic winter combo: Light eyes, black liner and red lips.

Since New Years, I’ve been doing lots of emerald and forest greens with coordinating metallic green lips, bronze lips, or browns in the vein of Urban Decay 1993. I’m also into purple monochrome looks, but I tend to be into that a lot all the time.
I’ve also been liking olive, khaki, and gold halo eyes; light blush; metallic cheekbone highlight; and matte, light peachy-nude lips.
Before that, it was looks using the Pat McGrath Bronze Temptaion Palette with sheer red lipglosses.

My look is pretty much whatever I have in my collection since I am trying to curb my purchases (son getting ready to go to college). I have neutral brown-taupe powder shadows, tinted moisturizer, concealer, bronzer and lip which I also use as blush. I did, however, purchase my first MAC powder eyeshadow the other day in Brule because I was in need of an Ivory-toned base shade and I had points to spend at Ulta. I will let you know my thoughts.
It’s snowing on the East Coast, but not that bad. I think we’re getting a bigger storm on Sunday. At least school is closed on Monday!
Be well!

I love what you are wearing ! Do share! I love the glowy skin, natural polished look (Pixiwoo did a good tutorial called “Youthful Day Makeup”) I’m with you, Karen, I love the bronzy lids and nude lip look. I think this is a great look no matter what time of year it is.
Karen says
Hi Daphne,
Thank you! It’s a mix of BECCA and NARS. BECCA Eye Lights Palette on my eyes and NARS Vibeke Lipstick on my lips. On my cheeks I’m wearing the BECCA Apres Skin Glow Face Palette.
I have to check out that Pixiwoo (LOVE THEM) tutorial. 🙂

I’m into the soft pink look right now–not the rose, mauve trend that everyone is into, but actual light pinks and peaches. It goes well with my fair complexion. But then once or twice a week, I go all nuts with my eyeshadow and wear bold colours, like I am wearing right now: shimmery teals, blues, and mustard in the crease. Why not? It’s fun and nice to change things up.
I’m also into really light bases with luminous cheeks. My goal is to look fresh and plump most days.

Oh, my gosh – you’re like a little ray of summer! Your skin looks so bronzed and glowy! Everyone here is pasty gray, especially me. You’re inspiring me to break out some bronzer -you look so healthy! Same old makeup for me. I had 2 people recently, on different occasions, remark “why are you wearing eye makeup?”. In fairness, one was my not-always-observant son. I had to argue with both that I wore the EXACT SAME MAKEUP every day. And it’s just mascara and liner on my eyes. Sigh. 🙂

Sort of a light brownish-ivory shiny eye shadow with a little touch of sparkly white along my lashes in the same place that most people put eyeliner. I’ve gone light on mascara instead of loading up with 20 coats of volumizing mascara (only exaggerating slightly) and a blotted dark reddish lip color more like a stain.
This is nothing I’ve seen in a magazine or any ads so of course it’s hard to find the colors I’m looking for, which is a usual condition for me. The Almay shadow quad, “The World is my Oyster” has the perfect shadow colors for what I’m doing now.
I’m fairly light-skinned so the ivory color looks natural and low-key on me, but the touch of sparkle along my upper lashes makes it look like I actually put some eye makeup on on purpose. Otherwise, it’s all pretty natural looking.
Diana says
Going for natural yet bumped up a little makeup look lately. Trying the Tilbury flawless filter, for a bronze glow ( using #5 tan, not that dark blended in), an ivory, gold shadow, forest green on the eyes ( kiko liner #8) and dusty pink or pink nude matte lip. I should do mascara but most days no

My friend got me a couple of MAC extra dimension eye shadows and I am loving them! So I’ve just been doing a super shimmery lid with black eyeliner and berry colored lips in a moisturizing lipstick from Bare Minerals. Oh and I tried the Tarte Lights Camera Lashes mascara and I love it! It might replace my beloved Lancôme mascaras.

Confession: I’ve been into absolutely no makeup at all lately. The week after the hurricane, I lost two people who were very dear to me and I’ve been struggling since then. And I’ve spent so much time on the phone fighting with the insurance company and working with our contractor- it’s all been a lot of negativity that I just haven’t dealt with very well. (Our house still isn’t fixed and my girls are still in temporary housing. That’s the story for most people around here. It’s a bad situation.)
So yesterday I went to the salon, had my hair colored, and decided while I was in the chair to have my hair cut in a graduated bob instead of just trimmed. An honest to goodness hairdo- no more ponytails or messy buns allowed. Then I came home and ordered a few clothes to wear around the house; nothing fancy, but something besides yoga pants and too-big tees. I didn’t put on makeup today, but I did do some perfume and earrings.
Tomorrow, I’m thinking of playing with my Tartlette In Bloom palette just for the fun of it. ?
Karen says
Hi Suzanne,
I’m sorry to hear that you’re still dealing with the repairs and the insurance company. That must be very stressful. I’m glad you were able to get in some me time though. You’ve inspired me to finally make an appointment for a trim and to do my nails!
P.S. My vote is for you to do a brown smokey eye with your In Bloom palette. 🙂

My go-to look these days is also very very BECCA! I recently got both the Be A Light palette and the Malika BFF palette and I love them for every day. I wear the Be A Light face powders over the Covergirl matte made foundation- which I know seems odd. Then bronzer, blush, and that lovely highlight! I love being able to control the glow over a very natural matte foundation!

Sorry I’m late to the game but I thought I’d share for the heck of it! I’ve been into really grungy smoky eyes. Love swampy colors like khaki green and mustards. Think MAC Smut and Uninterrupted. Putting dark colors in the outer corner is very new to me but I’m going for it! My lips are always a peachy, pinky or mauvey nude. I prefer balms or sheer lipsticks to a gloss. MAC lustres are my jam! I love nude blushes. Clinique Cheek Pops are my favorite blush formula. Nude Pop and Heather Pop are everything?
