Urban Decay Unsung Hero: 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Bourbon

November 27th, 2009 by Karen 74 Comments

urban decay 24 7 glide one eye pencil in bourbon tip

Urban Decay’s creamy, long-wearing 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencils come in a rainbow of gorgeous colors, but my favorite has to be Bourbon ($17).

She’s brown with golden glitter, and we’ve been friends since last spring, when I spotted a mini-Bourbon pencil in Urban Decay’s Get Baked Palette ($28).

Within a month I’d worn it down to a nub!

Ever since then, time and again, I’ve reached for Bourbon (on the rocks, ha!) when I’ve wanted a little sparkle. Its golden flecks lighten my lids in a subtle way, but not so subtle that I can’t appreciate the difference. It’s glitter, after all, and what’s the point of wearing glitter if you can’t enjoy the bling? 🙂

I love it layered as a shimmery eyeshadow base beneath bronze, gold, teal or brown shadows. Sometimes, when I’m running REALLY late, I’ll quickly smudge some along my upper and lower lash lines (it looks faboo!).

So tell me, have you tried Bourbon?

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

since i prefer black liner when have full eyeshadow on, i normally wear this with a quick wash of color on the lid and smudge it on the top&bottom , its dark enough to define your eyes yet still softer then black

I LOVE Bourbon, and so does my mum! She used to just use a bit of eyeshadow with an angled brush as an eyeliner but when I introduced her to the 24/7 pencils she just loved how smooth and creamy they were! We both wear ours down all the time, they’re just so useful.

I find it great for those of us who just don’t pull off black smudgy eyes unless it’s in a dark club. I’ve got dark brown hair, and medium skin, but it just looks too much on me to wear black all around the eye. I LOVE using something like Sin from Urban Decay as a base, and then line my eyes with Bourbon and smudge. It’s a nice day take on the smoky, simple eye!

That’s almost exactly what I wore yesterday to my parent’s house for Thanksgiving! I used UD Sin Potion Primer as a base, Bourbon on the lid and then Half-Baked packed on top.

So cute that you and your mom wear the same shades, aww!

That is absolutely my favorite eyeliner pencil ever. No joking. I literally wear it every single day and I would die if they discontinued it!!!

Yesterday, for Thanksgiving dinner, I wore it on the top and bottom lid with potion primer (of course!!!) and MAC Mineralize Eye Shadow (Duo) in “It’s A Miracle” (eggplant purple and gold) along with Copperized (olive green pearl) from the new 5 Haute High Jinks Warm Mini Pigment/Glitter kit. Oh and I used the Covergirl Lashblast Luxe in Black Cabernet. It looked great! IMHO

I love that you make time to reply to everyone’s comments! It’s so personal. I wish I had time to do that on my blog!!

I put the gold on first, under my eyebrow and blended light down. Then I put the purple right into my lash line and eyelid to blend in with the Bourbon eyeliner. Then I blended the top and bottoms colors together with “It’ a miracle”. I wish I had taken pics because it came out great!

I never thought to try blending 3 colors, but I see you do it all the time and thought I would give it a try. 🙂

That’s definitely the look I featured A LOT over the past week! And I’ve started a new love affair with Underground 🙂 I don’t think it will replace my love for Bourbon, but . . . oooo, it’s a wonderful color too!

Now we’re back home from OR and WA to see the families. We drove from my parents to my boyfriend’s parents yesterday, so no shopping for me. Although I am wishing that I had been able to order the new MacBook I’ve been lusting after for nearly a year. Their website didn’t work for me each time I tried though, so . . . oh well!

I was wondering, can you use just a regular sharpener on these pencils, or is the width funny? That’s what keeps me away from most eyeliner pencils, not wanting to worry about finding the right sharpener or worrying about it breaking when I try to sharpen it.

I got a mini one in a 24/7 holiday set (one of the ones with 3 minis and a glitter liner), and I’ve worn it down to a nub. They’re completely different. Powersurge is more of a golden bronze, while Bourbon is more of a brown with hints of gold. Also, Bourbon has these flecks of glitter (Powersurge doesn’t). They’re definitely within the same color family though. 🙂
