Tired of Being Disappointed With Your Makeup? With Their New QVC Exclusive Kit, Tarte Asks, “What Has Your Makeup Done For You Lately?”

June 27th, 2012 by Karen 21 Comments

tarte what has your makeup done for you lately

Every time I say the name of Tarte’s new $49 QVC exclusive kit, “What Has Your Makeup Done For You Lately?” (a $160 value) I think of this old-school Janet Jackson jam…

I find it really funny that I can’t remember the last name of that boy I dated for three months in my freshman year in college (Mike something-or-other? I want to say Mendoza?), but I can recite the lyrics from Janet’s video word for word!

“What’s up, girl?”

“He stood me up again.”

“Again?!”

“Um-hmm.”

“Well, what’s up with this guy? Do you really like him that much?”

“Yes, honey, I love him. He is fine. He does a lot of nice things for me.”

“I know he used to do nice stuff for you, but what has he done for you lately?”

Don’t even get me started on the choreography. 🙂

But I digress…

Tarte’s latest makeup kit, a QVC exclusive (QVC and QVC.com) on July 13, features six pieces, most of them new.

For $49, or about 70 percent off the regular price of all of the products purchased separately, you get one LipSurgence Lip Shine in Smitten (a glossy pink), the new Pure Maracuja Oil Rollerball, the new Retoucher Flawless Finish Bamboo Foundation Brush, the new Maracuja Miracle 12-HR Foundation with Broad Spectrum SPF 15 (choose from one of five shades in Fair, Light, Medium, Tan and Deep), the new modernEYES Waterproof Creaseless Shadow/Liner in Plumberry/Plum Brown, and a re-promoted Amazonian Clay Smart Mascara.

Oh — and as a bonus, you also get a sample jar of Tarte’s new Maracuja C-Brighter Eye Treatment, a cream designed to conceal dark circles immediately and diminish the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles over time.

LipSurgence Lip Shine in Smitten (retail value: $22)

Packed with volumizing shine and a hint of refreshing mint, one swipe delivers a perfect shade of glossy pink.

Pure Maracuja Oil Rollerball (retail value: $22)

Tarte’s favorite oil packaged in a convenient, travel-friendly 0.6-ounce rollerball. Roll directly over skin, and gently massage in. Loaded with vitamin C and essential fatty acids, it’s designed to leave skin looking firmer, brighter, smoother and more hydrated.

Retoucher Flawless Finish Bamboo Foundation Brush (retail price: $32)

For an airbrushed finish, buff and blend your Maracuja Miracle 12-Hr Foundation in circular motions with this comfortably soft brush.

Maracuja Miracle 12-Hr Foundation With Broad Spectrum SPF 15 (retail price: $42)

Get the coverage you want while simultaneously brightening your skin with this 1-ounce bottle of maracuja oil (has a pump dispenser). The silky formula is supposed to leave flaws behind, leaving you with a perfectly even, radiant complexion and a subtle dewy glow (choose from five shades in Fair, Light, Medium, Tan and Deep).

ModernEYES Waterproof Creaseless Shadow/Liner (retail price: $25)

A double-ended pencil duo designed to enhance eyes with a plum-berry shadow on one end and a plum-brown liner on the other.

Gifted Amazonian Clay Smart Mascara in Black (retail price: $19)

This big tube is billed as a hydrating, restorative mascara able to increase lash volume by a staggering amount (Tarte claims it’s as much as 400 percent!).

Sounds like a pretty good value, and part of the proceeds of each sale go to support the Sustainable Amazon Partnership (SAP) to promote lasting sustainable management of the Amazon Rainforest.

Gah. This kit looks gorgeous, Karen! Although — I’m pretty sure my opinion is biased like crazy, because that box is seriously stunning. They could have put a bunch of empty containers in there and I’d still be tempted 😛

I prefer brushes with black matte handles, but darn it Karen, the handle of the Tarte brush looks so cute and nice. I’m not that interested in the other stuff that comes with this kit, but I might get it just for the brush! =D

I love you, Tarte. But, no, no, no. I do not need this kit. 🙂 What did you think of the brush, Karen? I won’t buy it for the brush (or the plumberry liner, lovely as it is) but I’m just wondering.

Looks like a great kit! I love buying makeup kits, because most of the time they come with decent stuff. I haven’t bought a Tarte one before (got a free mini kit from Sephora that was nice), but I’ve bought kits from Smashbox and Bare Minerals. Oh, and UD eyeliner kits. It’s an added bonus that Tarte is giving some of the proceeds to the Amazon. Buying makeup and helping to save the rainforest in one! 🙂

This kit looks really great. I’m very tempted to get it just to try the foundation. And I love the idea of the maracuja oil in a rollerball.

Man, I love me some Tarte, but if they put one more F@&*$)#* pink lippie in a kit imma scream!! I love their TSV’s but every single one has had a bubblegummy or peachy pink lippie. Two colors that look disgusting on me. Come on Tarte, give me a red, a rose, a mauve, a plum, anything but PINK!!! Gotta pass on this one.

Wish there was more colour selection for the foundation. I’m looking for a new one and that sounds nice.

Love the look of that brush, I wish it were available separately already. And that foundation looks like it will be absolutely amazing for people with dry to normal skin. It reminds me of YSL Teint Radiance or something–looks very glowy and lovely

I’ve tried a mascara by Tarte which caused my poor lashes to fallout like crazy and a foundation which broke me out. Looks pretty but my skin is too sensitive for “natural” makeup. 🙁
