Shiseido Had a Bright Idea with These Luminizing Satin Eye Color Trios

September 22nd, 2010 by Karen 45 Comments

shiseido luminizing satin eye color trio

Shiseido is not a word that springs to mind when I think “bright eyeshadow,” but their new Luminzing Satin Eye Color Trios ($33 each) sure got my attention.

I stumbled on these in the city the other day. The seven powder shadow trios, inspired by Shiseido Makeup Artistic Director Dick Page’s world travels, are completely new to the line, and bright is their modus operandi (they also feel silky smooth).

shiseido luminizing satin eye color trio swatches
Swatches of the Shiseido Luminizing Satin Eye Color Trios: (first row) GY901 Snow Shadow; (second row) GR305 Jungle, YE406 Tropicalia; (third row) GD804 Opera, PK403 Boudior; (fourth row) OR302 Fire, BR 307 Strata. Sorry if these swatches aren’t very vivid; I took ’em with my phone…

See anything you like? I’m all over a pink, yellow and green trio called YE406 Tropicalia, not that I can think of a way to work all three of the colors into the same look.

Any ideas? Come on, there’s gotta be a way! 🙂

Available at Shiseido counters and sephora.com.

Karen

See, I’m weird, I would wear the pink all over my eyelid, use the green in my crease, darken the outer edge with a good purple (MUFE #92, yes yes?), and use the yellow on the inner corners of my eye 😀

Have fun with those…but for me, I don’t see much use for those types of colors, other than on a runway, and since I don’t see myself walking one anytime in the foreseeable future…

Thanks! I wear it more for practicality than style, LOL! I like it ’cause it’s waterproof, not too bulky and has a timer.

OOH! So, how do you like your blush? And did you pick up anything else?

i got some lipglasses too. and resort life lipgelee.

the blush is pure <3 — with a light hand, its a sheer flush thats very natural. i used a 188 to apply it.

during the launch, the MUA also showed me how to make it a stronger red using a contour brush. maybe for an evening out, but not for work fo'sho!

i have several watches – they all need batteries bec they have not been worn in forever!

What do you think of the texture of the Lipgelee? I’ve always liked them a LOT! They’re no sticky and so smooth.

Glad to hear you love your blush! I think I might try that contouring trick. 🙂

It’s been a while since I’ve worn Shiseido, but I sure was impressed by the quality of the powder shadows. They also have these very cool cream shadow pots that don’t move for nothing.

So, i went to TJ Maxx today to kill some time as the rain poured and poured in the desert. I didn’t complain since it is much needed here. Plus, i found Shiseido skincare there. And Lisa Hoffman stuff for Leessss than ten dollars. It was a good day, but now i’m broke. Again. Le sigh. That’s college + TJ Maxx.
So random but i felt like i haven’t commented in soo long and i’m just sitting in a room filled with computers. I cannot resist looking at pretty things on the internet. Hope all is going well 🙂

NICE! So what did you get from Shiseido? I had a roommate who used their skin stuff and loved it.

How are things with you otherwise? Is school going okay?

I bought the Shiseido White Lucent skin cleanser because that’s the only kind they had there …for now. I’m hoping that they will get some of their sunblock which i’m dying to try. I also bought two Lisa Hoffman masks and her Vitamin a & c serum. I had a bottle of the serum before but i gave it to my mummy and i think she liked it 🙂 I’ve also bought an exfoliator by DDF there which i’m using right now. So far so good.

School is going well. We are a “university” now. Whatever that means. But it’s going swell besides having a class three times a week at eight in the morning. me + morning = jklfdsjklaklska. I’m not really there. no bueno!
But it’s an amazing feeling to be back in a place where i can get around a bit easier and just do photography again. I missed it so much. Plus i’m taking a book making class and the instructor is So cool. She really loves her craft and she’s incredibly good at it too.
I also had a friend tell me my obsession with makeup is a fetish which i thought was interesting. Lol. How about that?

Now, if i had some moolah, my car, and my cat-dog things would be infinitely better but i’m just grateful for being able to do what i’m doing!

Karen, have you seen the new Jemma Kidd for Target eyeliners? I was stopping by Target today to pick up a new tube of mascara when I found the JK display. Now, our Target hasn’t carried JK so I excitedly put some swatches of the liquid eyeliner on my hand.

It’s SO gorgeous! It’s kind of goopy and it takes a LONG time to dry, but the colours! You have GOT to see them next time you go to Target. I’m thinking of buying a tube to use creatively on my lower lash line since I think it would take too long to dry on the top. It’s just SO gorgeous!

Here’s a link to the Target page: http://bit.ly/9Wq38T

Update: After a bath, self-pedicure and multiple hand washings, the eyeliner hasn’t budged. I don’t even think it’s flaked.

It’s funny you said that because I was like “HOLY YE (numbers I can’t read in that picture)… look at those 3!!”. Super bright and fun looking. You know I’d never wear them together in a million years (and I have a really bad feeling about how horrifying yellow would look on me), but I would love to see some brave soul try it out. Hint, hint. 😉

Karen, I am totally into the same palette as you, Green, yellow and pink. At first look, it appears that when worm it would be inevitable you’d look like a clown. But after giving it much thought, I can now see many combinations that would not only make your eyes pop and draw massive amounts of positive attention, but would brighten up your face like no other make up has ever before and look fabulous. I must have that palette as well as the one with the 3 greens in it. Using these 2 palettes together would give you enormous potentail for neverending classy, fun and playful looks. If I can afford it, I’m gonna splurge. If you dont get that palette I can promise you, you will always regret it because that’s how us beauty junkies are.

I love these trios. I have Tropicalia, Opera & Snow Shadow(I just picked this up not long ago). I love Tropicalia but I have only used the fuchsia with yellow. I have no idea what to do with the greens, it is a tad bright on my tanned skin.

      Hi Farah,

You could always try the green as a liner. Maybe do a neutral matte or pearl brown on the lid and then line the lower lash line with the green for a pop of color!

Tabs is sitting on my lap right now. He says hi!
