Random Acts of Beauty, December 2, 2011: One Girl. 24 Hours.

December 2nd, 2011 by Karen 21 Comments

How much beauty can one girl spot over the course of 24 hours?

The answer: a lot. 🙂

Like interesting typography that feeds my inner word nerd while it tickles my eyeballs.

December 1, 5:18 p.m. — I’m taking pictures of Benefit’s new boxed blush, but it’s slow going because I’m distracted by the interesting fonts on the box. The blush is called Hervana, a shimmery, peachy pinkish berry ($28).

Hervana doesn’t officially hit counters and stores until January, but if you’re not one for waitin’, set Siri to remind you on Monday, December 5, that Hervana will be available for early sale, one day only, at Benefit online.

December 1, 9:36 p.m. — I’m sitting on the couch and flipping through the DVR menu with the remote… I open the folder for Pop-Up Video to see if any new shows have been recorded (and they have!).

There’s only episode (shoot!), but it’s dedicated to Justin Timberlake videos (YES!).

Oh, yeah… Bring that sexy back, JT. Bring it right here. 🙂

December 1, 11:11 p.m. — Bedtime. I lie down. Moments later, Tabs jumps on my chest for his nightly post-gravy snuggles.

He tucks his head beneath my chin and exhales a long, exhausted sigh. He stays like that, completely still, until I fall asleep.

December 2, 10:02 a.m. — I fiendishly tear into a couple of pieces from Guerlain’s spring 2012 collection.
Pink, pink and more pink!

Rouge G in 72 Rose Innocent ($48) and Ecrin 4 Couleurs in Les Roses ($59) are coming in January to select Saks Fifth Avenue, Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus, Sephora, Bloomingdales and Bergdorf Goodman stores.

Oh! — I think my heart just skipped a beat…

There it goes again. 🙂 Could this be my spring love?

December 2, 3:18 p.m. — It’s been a long week, and I decide to reward myself with a slice of cheesecake and an at-home mani/pedi with two of these polishes from Nails Inc. The question is, which ones?

Stimulus overload. So…many…sparkles…and…shiny…colors… So many polish combinations.

It’s like a metaphor for life, in a way. So many possibilities, and so many opportunities to shine.

I know, I know… I’m a cheese ball, but just in case you haven’t heard it yet today, you are amazing. 🙂

How about you? Have you spotted any random acts of beauty lately? I’d love to hear about ’em if you have.

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

I ended a long-term dysfunctional relationship this week and to treat myself for NOT trying to contact him, I decided to treat myself to some new MUFE Aqua liners I’ve been denying myself. I’m ready to rock some fun colors and meet some new positive people (err, men) in my future! 🙂

And how much do I want those new pinks you posted now??

Kudos for taking good care of yourself this week, Edith. 🙂 I hope you meet lots of new friends (or more!) in your gorgeous liners.

      Aren’t those pinks bananas (B-A-N-A-N-A-S)?

Hey Karen! I tried the Hervana blush at a beauty testing session at Seventeen magazine and ever since I have been dying to hear when this blush comes out! It’s such a flattering color and I love the ability to build the color up. Plus I’m a sucker for packaging (Definitely a graphic design thang!) and this box like the rest of the Benefit products is so pretty.

      Hi Brittany,

That’s awesome that you’ve already had the chance to try the blush. I’m going to wear it today… can’t wait!

Do you have any of the other Benefit boxed blushes? Dallas, Sugar Bomb and Coralista are my faves.

I actually don’t own any of the other boxed blushes, although I’ve been dying too! I’m thinking of making Hervana my first Benefit boxed blush, plus I just love everything Benefit. Great products and the packaging is adorable! I will definitely be reading your other Hervana post, I can’t wait!

As for random acts of beauty, I have 2 for today:
    1) Seeing trees light up for Christmas in downtown Vancouver and 2) Walking on a sidewalk covered with orange/red leaves. <3

I love your Random Acts of Beauty posts, Karen! This one in particular was great – it has a very “a day in the life of…” vibe, which I’m always a sucker for 😛

I unexpectedly picked up a few Joe Fresh Beauty items today, which was a nice way to end the week. Mom had to pick me up from campus because I threw out my back in the pm (I can move around alright, but can’t carry anything,) & we stopped off at the supermaket to pick up carrots on our way home.

It’s pretty simple math: back pain + supermarket = makeup pick-me-up 😛 It’s good, though; I’ve been meaning to try the line for ages!

      Hi Rae,

I’ve heard nice things about that line. Kicking myself for not picking up any last time when I was in Vancouver last summer.

Take care of yourself. I hope you feel better soon! Back injuries are THE WORST, ugh…

Random act of beauty: I discovered my talent for eyeshadow blending when I gave my bff a Makeover today! It was truly epic, the smoky eye I created, that I did it on myself but win different colors….sigh, I’ve been asking her to close her eyes and ‘just get a little closer to the camera’ all day 🙂
