The Four Lippies in This New NARS Guy Bourdin Holiday Gift Set Fling Giant Kisses

October 24th, 2013 by Karen 36 Comments

NARS Guy Bourdin Fling Gift Set
Big kiss!

MMMWWAH!

I dunno… Do you think it’s too much to walk around with these red lips from the NARS Guy Bourdin Fling holiday gift set like this?

Too much?

It might be the closest I ever come to looking like one of the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills (go team Vanderpump!).

The set’s called Fling, but I suspect a great many girls will want to go steady with it.

It features four lippies — pastel pink Roman Holiday Lipstick, dusty rose Dolce Vita Velvet Matte Lip Pencil, sheer grape Damage Lipstick and raspberry Baroque Velvet Gloss Pencil — in transitional colors that sort of skirt the line between traditional winter and spring shades (or perhaps summer and fall).

My, what luscious lips you have…

NARS Baroque

The set (which is limited edition) includes both sheer and opaque shades, all of which should work well with a wide range of skin tones.

And the giant red lips are the icing on the cake. They’re actually a makeup (or whatever) box — pretty sturdy, too, and they seem high-end. I wouldn’t be surprised to find them in a Jonathan Adler store tucked away on a shelf next to a $100 embroidered pillow of the British flag…

Probably too big to stuff in a stocking, though. 🙂

PRICE: $49
AVAILABILITY: Coming November 1 to NARS counters, boutiques and narscosmetics.com

All of these lip colors seem nice, and I’m loving the lips they come in.

I wish only one of the lipsticks was sheer. I would have liked the range in finishes. I really only want this set for the lips though! I don’t know if I can justify the purchase just for the lips though.

The lips are so fun! You can always gift the lipsticks that you’re into to other people. 🙂

Interesting choices for a holiday set–these colors are more muted than I’d expect (with the exception of Baroque, I suppose). I guess NARS was trying to make it appeal to as many people as possible? I just wish there were at least one big opaque statement color! (That giant red lip box is AMAZING, though.)

      Hi Modernfoppery,

That’s what I’m guessing too. These are relatively neutral enough to go with most skin tones. 🙂

Do you have a favorite NARS lip shade?

I particularly like Baroque and Damage – and the case is really fun! I’m about due for a Sephora haul so I’ll keep this in mind.

I definitely need some NARS eyeshadow primer and Alterna Bamboo Oil. I’m sure I won’t be able to resist the Hourglass powder trio either. Now, I’m eyeing the crazy NuFACE Trinity Facial Toning Device but that’s more of a fantasy purchase. 🙂 I’m so thankful that Sephora doesn’t carry Chanel makeup because I’m still thinking about the Daydream Glossimer and Le Volume (which I will absolutely get when it’s time for a new mascara). Just typing this makes me feel like I need an intervention. 😉

OMG! Do you remember when they used to carry the Chanel makeup line? I remember going to the Sephora in the downtown Disney area in Anaheim and going a little nuts. This was a good 10 years ago!

True story – every year when we’re in the Anaheim area for work, I make everyone eat dinner at Downtown Disney, just so I can go to Sephora after. 🙂

      Hi Chaitra,

I think they do. You could pull off all these colors!

I wonder if you and I like similar shades. What are your NARS must haves?

        Hi Karen! 🙂

Shanghai Express & Dressed to kill are the only NARS ones i own. And i love them both. But talk to me about MAC, TWIG is my most favorite one. It just works wonders for me. MAC BombShell, Ruby Woo, Syrup And CrossWires are my Favorites. I am a mad CORAL addict 😀 I just cant help myself, i have so many pink coral lippies. Do you like any of these?

          Hi Chaitra,

I’m kind of addicted to NARS and MAC, so you and I share quite a few favorites. 🙂 I have worn almost all those colors, hee hee!

If you love corals then you need this MUFE lippie in your life:

Love the review, Karen! I love NARS…it’s not even funny. I noticed this set and the “promiscuous” lip set coming out in Sephora. Will you be doing a review with that one as well? I love their matte pencils 🙂

You are so silly and adorable for the opening pic! Lol I just adore it! This set looks lovely. I don’t really care for the gloss pencil shade but color and formula selection is pretty nice. The box is super cute too! I want this set mostly so I can see the pretty box on my vanity lol

All 4 lippies look real nice on you 🙂
