A 15-Minute MAC Divine Night Look, and a Note to My Perpetually Late Self

October 21st, 2013 by Karen 17 Comments

MAC Divine Night
A quick touch-up with Prepare for Pleasure Cremesheen Glass

Dear Perpetually Late Self (yes, I am talking to myself),

What is it with you and clocks!? Why are you always running behind? Seriously, why can’t you ever get from point A to B on time? It’s a mystery that I don’t even know if the universe understands…

(#realtalk: I suspect that it might have something to do with time management, which isn’t exactly your strong suit… But I’m not about to tell you that. Oh, hell no. I value my life and sanity too much, so I’ll continue to pretend it’s due to cosmic forces out of our control.)

But I do appreciate that you’re working on it. Your decision to do a full face in 15 minutes today with the new MAC Divine Night holiday collection was a brilliant idea.

Snaps, man. At least you’re trying. 🙂

Minutes 14:59-9:00 — Eyes

MAC Divine Night Eyeshadows
The six Divine Night Mineralize Eye Shadows ($23 US, $27.50 CAN each)

OK, I can see why you chose to start with the Mineralize Eye Shadows from this collection. Each one has two shades, so they’re like a ready-to-wear duo in every pan.

MAC Exquisite Ego Mineralize Skinfinish Eye Shadow
Exquisite Ego Mineralize Skinfinish Eye Shadow, a bronze, and a soft white champagne

Good choice going with the bronze and pink Exquisite Ego. Bravo. Because the colors are neutrals, even if you do a slap-dash job applying them, people probably won’t even notice your mistakes. I’d do the same thing.

MAC Divine Night Exquisite Ego
The flat shape of the MAC 239 Brush helps keep fallout to a minimum

And I applaud your decision to use a flat shader brush like the MAC 239, since it helps reduce fallout. I like that you patted the lighter color all over your lids, and then swished the darker color along your lash line for a sparkly kick, without having to spend forever and a day blending.

MAC Orpheus
Kohl Power Eye Pencil in Orpheus, an intense black with a golden pearl ($17.50 US, $21 CAN)

I also liked how you lined your lower lash line with Orpheus Kohl Power Pencil, and then smudged it with the same MAC 239. The little extra definition it added to the look made it clear that you at least tried.

Oh, and you managed to find a few seconds to do your brows and lashes, too? Nice!

Minutes 8:59-2:00 — Face

MAC Lured to Love
Mineralize Blush in Lured to Love, a coral pink with a satin finish ($27.50 US, $32.50 CAN)

I know it nearly killed you to skip bronzer today, but when you’re pressed for time, it’s all about the basics — products like foundation, under-eye concealer concealer, face powder and blush.

Totes approve of your choice of Lured to Love Mineralize Blush, by the way.

MAC Divine Night Lured to Love Blush
Smile!

First, it’s the least frosty of the three blushes in the Divine Night collection, so you know your pores be like, “Hey, boo, HAAAY!”

Plus, the light coral pink color doesn’t need a ton of blending.

Minutes 1:59-0 — Lips

MAC Prepare for Pleasure
Cremesheen Glass in Prepare for Pleasure, a bluish red ($22 US, $25 CAN)

OK, since the rest of the look is so minimal, I think you made the right call by going with sheer red Prepare for Pleasure Cremesheen Glass.

I think the look needed some brightening up, and sheer, bright glosses like this one are good for that. Oh, and because it’s not too potently pigmented, you were able to skip lip liner.

Score. 🙂

MAC Divine Night
Out the door in 15!

The MAC Divine Night holiday collection is available now at MAC counters and also online.

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

The eyeshadows are adorable! I love the untraditional appearance in the pan. And it’s totally not weird that they make me think of little alien babies…. Ahem….. Your look has me ready for holiday parties. Like now. (Come on, December!)
