LORAC Box Office Hit Full Face Palette Swatches and Eating Cheetos from a Cup

November 8th, 2010 by Karen 47 Comments

lorac box office hit

How do you spell a scream, friends? Gaaaaah! perhaps? I had one of those days… I started with grand plans and great expectations to write about, among other things, the beauty gods’ gift to big hair and the new smokey Urban Decay Black Palette, but I hit The Great Wall.

No, not the one in China.

Writer’s block, which you might think I wouldn’t get anymore after four years and 4,000 posts, but I do.

You might have writer’s block if you’re swigging Cheetos from a cup.

I’d hoped for witty prose, but all that came out of my fingertips today was gooey green baby poo. At one point I just gave up on the whole sentence thing and decided to take a ton of pictures of the LORAC Box Office Hit Full Face Palette ($35) instead.

And if you’re thinking, “what a croc,” you’d be right. The limited edition holiday cutie for eyes, lips and cheeks is dressed like a croc, a reddish one, in faux patent croc. It’s available now at Ulta stores and also online.

I may attempt a tutorial, now that I’ve stopped crying, once I get the swelling to go down around my eyes…

((hugs)) 🙁 Surprisingly, I managed to have a pretty good day (despite it being a Monday.) I guess I’m just happily holding onto the last shreds of fall, before the predicted snowfall later this week!

Hope your Tuesday is better, Karen <3

Hi, Rae. I accept your hugs and return them in the spirit in which they were given. Ha! That’s something El Hub and I say all the time. We’re dorks.

So what do people say in the face of pending snowfall to cheer their friends up? Something like, “I hope if it does snow that it’s light and powdery”?

Usually they’d probably say “I hope it snows heavy enough to cancel school/work!”

Sorry you had a bad day, Karen. Sending many hugs your way! I hope today is better. Thanks for sharing pics of the face palette. Love the packaging, but I think some of the colors are a little too warm for me. Plus, I have an aversion to palettes for some reason! I just prefer single shadows. Yes, I’m weird!

Okay, so I totally get why you’re into singles. You can mix/match, you don’t have to worry about eyeshadow cross pollination… Palettes are so handy for travel, though!

Anyway, you have a great Tuesday.

Oh, Karen, don’t be too hard on yourself. Writing is a huge part of my job and, some days, it just doesn’t flow. I’ve had plenty of times when I’ve looked at some copy I’ve written (a day or two later) and thought “Holy cow! That’s just God-awful; I’m glad it hasn’t gone to print yet!”. You put out a ton of great content and are bound to have some off days. 🙂

On another bright note, at least you’re eating Cheetos from a cup. I generally pound them straight from the family sized bag!!

And about the actual make-up, I’d love to see your tutorial. I haven’t had a chance to play around with my smokey eye before bed this week. Maybe that should be on my weekly goal list? 🙂

That’s a deal! We could virtually run on the treadmill too! 🙂 I have to admit that 6.3 mph for 5 miles is my max, though. So, it’ll be more like a virtual jog. At least we’d be rocking to the same 80s music! 🙂

On a side note, I played hockey on Sat night for the first time this year and, oh, my hip flexors were sore. I really should be adding some sprints to my runs (but I’m too lazy)!

Writer’s block stinks. My best tip? Get away from the computer! Take a shower, go for a walk, take a nap. Just give your brain time to regroup, it’ll come!

Must have been something in the air yesterday! I was so cranky…. it started when I needed to take my mother over to Trader Joe’s and found NO parking…. seriously, people? On a Monday morning? So, that set the mood for the day. Then I came home to do an online search to look for jobs I might want to apply for, and nothing came up as something I can imagine being able to stand doing 40 hrs per week, so I started melting down about that…

I say we blame the time change! It always makes me extra sensitive, no matter which way the clock turns!

Just remember Karen, you have an amazing gift, and to expect it to always be flowing is probably not the most realistic expectation…. but you’ve definitely got it, girl!

Re: Trader Joe’s — I recently picked up their Butternut Squash raviolis and they are SO GOOD. Dunno if you’re into pasta, but if you are they are delicious.

The Dark Chocolate Star cookies are also back in season too, yea!

The ravs sound yummy! I never met a pasta I didn’t love. And I did notice that they’ve got all their holiday goodies in stock now and I consumed an embarrassing amount of those chocolate stars last year! I’m sure I won’t be able to resist again!

I was having a totally crappy day — had 2 nails in my tire and getting it replaced took up most of my free afternoon. BUT then I got a message from my friendly Nordstrom Chanel lady saying they had the Soho collection now and she had set aside a Stunt for me! I have bought only 1 thing from her but told her how bummed I was to miss out on this lovely lippie and she made a note of it. Love that service.
