Lip Look: Nude Lips with Urban Decay and Cargo

April 24th, 2009 by Karen 22 Comments

It’s my firm belief that a girl can never have too many 1) pairs of cute underwear, 2) shoes or 3) nude lip combinations.

My new favorite nude lip combo is Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Lip Pencil in Naked ($16) layered on top of Cargo Blue Ray High Definition Lip Gloss in Belize ($24). I’ve been wearing it all week long. 🙂

Naked’s a creamy neutral pink pencil that glides on smoothly and moisturizes well, while Belize — a thin, non-stick shimmery warm pink gloss — plumps and ramps up the shine.

Layered together, the two create a shimmery, warm pink nude lip that looks great with casual day looks or smoldering smokey eyes.

This is the combo I’m planning to wear with some brown smokey eyes to dinner in S.F. tonight…

Speaking of dinner, do you have plans yet for the evening? Weekend, here we come!

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

I really like that look. Would you believe I don’t have any nude lip looks? I know. Crazy. (Unless clear lipgloss counts?) Better make that my first workout prize.

      Hi TaLaisa,

I think that would be a fabulous prize. If ya like your clear lipgloss you can always add a lil’ tint to them by layering lip liners beneath. Urban Decay Naked is good. So are MAC’s Cremestick liners. I like Pink Treat, Honey B and Sublime.

Anyway, I hope you are having a great weekend so far!

      Hi Maggie,

This one is really nice. It doesn’t dry out my lips and feels light (not sticky or heavy).

      How’s your weekend going?

So pretty! I’m with you. I’m on the eternal quest for the PERFECT nude lip. Even though I have plenty that are really good already. That Belize is really speaking to me…

Did you get Marquise’D from Blonde, Brunette, Redhead? That nude lipstick is really working for me lately. It may actually be my perfect nude. A tiny bit of gold shimmer, not too light so you look dead. Really nice. And I like Boy Bait Cremesheen glass on top.

I wish I had some hot plans so I could wear it tonight!

      Hi Stef,

I didn’t get that one! I kinda wish I did (story of my life).

Girl, you never know… hot plans may just miraculously pop up. All of those nude lipsticks/glosses/lip liners will come in uber handy (as will your lil’ black dress).

      Hi Noi,

Funny, I’ve been getting lots of letters from readers about ELF. I’ll have to give it a go one of these days.

Hi Karen! I’m pretty new to your blog BUT I have been reading every single day (because you actually DO update daily) and I’ve also been catching up on some past posts.

I have to say…I LOVE your blog! LOVE it!

I think this whole lip pencil+lipgloss combination is very winsome!

    I have a few questions:

Do you think the laura mercier tinted moisturiser is the best moisturiser (i.e. pretty decent coverage. almost like a sheer foundation?)

Is it advisable to layer on a mineral foundation on top of the tinted moisturiser?

    🙂

      Hi Emily,

It’s great to meet you! 🙂 Glad you are enjoying the site.

Regarding your questions, Laura’s is the best. Seriously. I wish the shade selection was a bit more extensive, but what are ya gonna do. Her Tinted Moisturizer has light coverage that you can build up on the days when you need a little bit more. I can’t live without it.

I would probably skip the mineral foundation on top because it might look too heavy. Try a loose powder in your skin tone or a sheer translucent powder. I like MAC Blot. 🙂

Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions.

Look great, but I do think it would be too pink for me.

      Hi Sexy Sadie,

You can always try more of a brownish lip liner beneath or perhaps one that’s more peachy? MAC Cork and Spice are good ones.

My favourite nude lip look is Mac’s Viva Glam II lippy. That will be buried with me LOL I like the look of that pencil a lot though… may have to snatch that one up tomorrow at the motherland (Sephora).

No plans tonight – I had a girl’s night card / game last night which was very fun, and I promised myself to get some stuff done today. So far, some things accomplished, but here I am checking blogs instead of errands LOL

    Have fun in S.F.!

    Ana.

Hi there! I’m Karen, your friendly neighborhood beauty addict, and I’m a Bay Area girl who hoards brown eyeshadow and covets coral lipstick. Every morning, I wake up and say, “I’m going to do something other than a smoky eye today.” Then…I end up doing a smoky eye anyway (most days). When I’m not putting on makeup, taking pictures of makeup or writing about makeup, which I’ve been doing daily since 2007 (!), you’ll find me hanging out with my hubby (“El Hub”), my four-year-old daughter (Connor Claire) and my torbie girl cat (Pretty Girl Rosie, a.k.a.
