A Look at the Six New Hourglass Femme Nude Lip Stylos and a Tip for a Heart-Stopping, Life-Changing Coral Lip Combo

Back in the Bay Area, and wearing a coral combo that will change yo’ life!

Guess who’s back in the Yay Areaaa!

Yup, when I got back from Hourglass Cosmetics headquarters in Venice Beach this afternoon, I arrived home to find a furrious feline employer demanding immediate lurvies.

Gimme Kisses, Woman
Gimme kisses, woman!

Tabs didn’t even ask how the trip went! — not even after a deep-tissue scruff massage and 10 minutes of rigorous chin and jaw scratching.

Rude.

OH, HAI!

If he’d asked, I would’ve told him all about the epic coral lip combo I discovered last night (more on this in a sec) while learning about the new Hourglass Femme Nude Lip Stylo line at the company’s offices.

Hourglass Femme Nude Lip Stylos
The six new Femme Nude Lip Stylos ($30 each)

The line of recently released full-coverage twist-up retractable lip pencils comes in six nude shades (a nude for every mood) for $30 each, available now on sephora.com and hourglass.com, and coming to Sephora and Barneys New York stores in mid-August.

In case you were wondering, yes, I think these would go quite well with smokey eyes and grocery shopping (Trader Joe’s, anyone?). 🙂

I’ll be putting ’em through their paces for a couple days before reporting back to you, but so far, so good (fingers crossed).

And then there’s that epic coral lip combo I mentioned.

Just thinking about it makes my heart flutter…

Here’s what happened: when I walked into the Hourglass offices last night, I was wearing Hourglass Opaque Rouge Lipstick in Muse, a bright reddish coral that by itself looks pretty darned striking, but while I was there, one of the Hourglass makeup artists touched up my makeup and showed me a couple of cool tricks.

She applied the peachy pink blush from the Illume Creme-to-Powder Duo ($40) on my cheeks before buffing lavender pink Mood Ambient Lighting Powder on top to give my skin a candlelit pink glow.

She also patted a bit of Illusion Tinted Moisturizer ($55; my shade’s Warm Beige) under my eyes and around my mouth to downplay my fine lines.

And it worked pretty well! I’ll definitely be adding this one to my repertoire for a while.

Carisa Janes and me!
Who’s that short gal next to Carisa Janes, CEO and Founder of Hourglass Cosmetics?

Oh, but the lips? She took ’em to new heights by adding a layer of Extreme Sheen High Shine Lipgloss in Nectar ($28), a bright creamy coral, on top of the Muse Opaque Rouge Lipstick ($28) I was already wearing.

All night long (or rather, until I conked out in my hotel room at 10:30), people kept stopping to ask me what I was wearing on my lips. If you like bright, shiny coral lips that last, you’ve gotta try the Muse/Nectar combo, ASAP!

In other news…I’m pooped. Even quick one-day trips are exhausting.

But I’ll be home all next week, and I’m looking forward to it. I can’t even begin to tell you how excited I am about that. 🙂

Have a good night, okay? See you very soon.

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

I love Hourglass, I wish I could afford more products from that brand! I got 2 of the beautiful ambient powders, they are amazing. I also need to test the veil primer, it sounds really great.

That lip combo is gorgeous, I can see why strangers asked you what was on your lips!!

Wow, I love that coral lip combo. It looks gorgeous on you! I’m so used to seeing matte or satin finish bright lips, and it’s so refreshing to see a glossy version.

Love the coral lippie!! It looks a lot like a combo I do. For a budget-friendly dupe…try Maybelline ColorSensational Vivids lip color in Shocking Coral with juuuuust a little Maybelline ColorSensational High Shine Gloss in Captivating coral layered over it. Love it!!

…the lip color pulls more pink while the gloss pulls orange. Hope this helps someone else in my situation…though I drool over it, Hourglass is a bit pricey for me. 🙂

Nude lips tend to look like hot death on me, but that coral combo is amazing! I love Hourglass more and more and I can’t wait to see what they come up with next. I do wish that they’d come out with more shadow duos, though!

You’re totally the Queen of Coral! I’m so glad you have another awesome way to wear it. 🙂 I really wanted to try one of their ambient powders but they were out of stock on the one I wanted (sephora.com) so I’ve been putting it off.

Can I suggest that your next corporate visit be to Algenist (Solazyme) since they’re right in your backyard? I’m on Day 2 of the challenge and I am really liking their Retinol Firming and Lifting Serum! Plus, it’s beauty *and* chemistry so I think you’d love it. 🙂

Okay, that convinces me to try Hourglass for the first time! I will check it out on my next visit to my brand spanking new Sephora (girl, you have GOT to get up here and check that place out! I think it’s bigger and better than the Novato one).
