Perfection! I wore fake lashes for my costume too (I was a deer, my boyfriend was a hunter) and the started falling off by the end of the night! Happy Halloween!
I did! I found a step by step tutorial online, but basically it consisted of lots of bronzer, white eyeliner for little spots on my face, and a black eyeliner nose. I’ll have to keep that in mind about Urban Decay! I usually just buy whatever lashes at Target that come with a little tube of glue.
I buy UD lashes for the sole purpose of getting a tube of glue, LOL! I’ve used Duo in the past but I can’t stand it. Super stinky and it feels heavy on my lids. Hope you took lots of cute pics of your look!
I love your costume and your makeup looks fabulous! Is Connor going trick or treating? I have ten bags of candy read to hand out, but it’s raining here. I’m hoping we still get some kids. I can’t eat it all on my own. 🙂 Happy Halloween!
I’ll take the Twix, please. I tried Kit Kat for the first time in years a while back and it tasted different than I remember it. I think they changed the recipe? I don’t like it as much as I used to.
Thanks, Christine! I did a little more than usual, thank you for noticing. Here’s the breakdown:
Urban Decay Complexion Primer (cheeks and forehead) to prime, Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Play Makeup in Honey Bronze applied in thin layers, each layer buffed out with a Real Techniques Buffing Brush spritzed with MAC Fix+. MAC Studio Fix 24-Hour Concealer in NC43 for spot concealing on cheeks, buffed out with same brush. MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in Golden Tan to set. Under eye concealer is just two dots under each eye (I know, so specific) of MAC Studio Fix 24-Hour in NW32 buffed out with 217.
You’re welcome, Christine. Those thin layers = magic. Have you tried Double Wear before? It’s SO good. You can build it up or sheer it out, and it retains the texture of real skin. With the new MAC 24-HR concealer it’s easy to the look of even coverage that looks natural!
Thanks, lady! Will you be dressing up tonight? I still have the same get-up on… TBH I can’t wait to take my hair down, all the bobby pins are giving me a headache, LOL!
Nope! I’m sitting on the couch in my leggings watching British Baking Show with Hettie! Too many Bobby pins really can give a headache! My Medusa hairdo definitely felt good to take down.
Yes! I recognize the woman from old episodes of the British version of Whose Line Is It Anyway.

Oh, my goodness! Victory rolls! I remember my mother wearing her hair like that. You look adorable and that’s not a word I use very often. Great Halloween costume.
Funny, the rolls ended up being easier than I thought they’d be. The style has much in common with how I used to wear my high bangs back in the ’80s, LOL! I think I’ll wear them again just for fun. 🙂 Thank you for sharing that memory of your mom, love it!
You look FANTASTIC! I used makeup for my costume too. I’m Minnie Mouse with eyeliner for my nose and red lipstick with mouse ears. I contemplated false lashes but drew on fake lashes at the corner of my eyes instead. Can never get the hang of fake lashes.
Thanks, Kate! Your costume sounds cute and easy to do. So I struggled for a long time with false lashes, and the trick for me is to look down into a mirror to apply them. That, and using the tiniest amount of glue, and setting the falsies directly on top of the lashes (rather than on the skin). If I can do it, you totally can, too!
Thanks for the tips! I might try it next time I have a fancy party. (Which is hardly ever these days. And on the nights I stay out late, I think about how long it’ll take me to wash everything off, so the odds are always against false lashes these days!)
srsly! You rock the Pink Lady look!! pls pls pls favor us with some retro inspired makeup posts. The ladies of yesteryears really did so much with the limited products they had back then. I am so into the vintage looks, and every time I watch classic film, I fall in love with them all over again! my latest obsession is the lipstick and lashes worn by Anne Bancroft and Katharine Ross in The Graduate. Tangee lips never looked so fine.
PS thanks for the UD glue tip, I will have to pass it on to my teenager!
I love it!!!! And you tried the false lashes again. I hope it was a huge success. You look amazing! 🙂 I dressed as someone with horrible taste in hockey teams. We were at a friend’s house and I had to borrow a sweatshirt – she gave me her husband’s Bruins one and we all groaned… but it was cold with all the trick or treaters in and out. HAHA!

So, I guess the hunter was the winner and took the trophy/deer… LOL Happy Halloween, Big Hugs from Greece!

Yes! I will have to tell my boyfriend that one! Hugs from North Dakota in the US!

Hi Rachel,
Lashes falling off… Welcome to my world, LOL! 🙂 Random but Urban Decay makes the best lash glue!
Did you do deer-themed makeup, too?

Hi Ruchita,
Ahh, if I was your neighbor I’d be happy to help out! Please tell me you have mini Snickers in there!
Ruchita says
No Snickers this year. Kit Kat and Twix. They were buy one get one free at the store. 🙂 Buying all that candy can get expensive!

Karen, thank you for the in-depth breakdown. Your layerings & techniques are spot on (or I should say spot OFF).
