Even Unwrapped, the Bare Escentuals bareMinerals Oh La Luxe Kit Looks Like a Present

October 8th, 2011 by Karen 31 Comments

bare escentuals bareminerals oh la luxe

This luxe lovely is already dressed for the holidays. 🙂 Bare Escentuals bareMinerals loose shadow fans, the new limited edition Oh La Luxe holiday kit, available now at Sephora stores and also online ($79), wouldn’t even need wrapping paper to look good under the tree.

The kit comes with…

  • 9 loose Eyecolors
  • 1 loose Liner Shadow
  • 3 loose Blushes
  • 2 All Over Face Colors
  • The snazzy two-tiered zippered makeup bag (CUTE!)

I’ll post swatches of these soon, but let me know what you think. The price ($79) works out to about $5 per piece, including the carrying case. Doesn’t seem bad.

And how do you feel about bareMinerals’ loose powders? I like many of their colors and how much pigment they have, but whenever I use them I always make a mess (which may say more about me than the powders).

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

I absolutely love BE eye and cheek products, so I’m really looking forward to your reivew. I find that case so useful, especially as a makeup case for a weekend getaway or something! I’m hoping to eventually review this set as well!

I don’t like loose shadows in general because of the fallouts. You can foil them by applying them wet or with a mixing medium or even Mac fix+ to control the fallouts, but I don’t like working “extra” to make a product work because I’m lazy, but I will still wait for your swatch post because I love seeing eyeshadow swatches. =)

I have a bag exactly like that by Sonia Kashuk and the layers are awesome! The top section has a plasticy type thing covering the brushes though. It’s not this same print but it’s this bag http://soniakashuk.com/sk-MTA_prod.php?sk=318. Super awesome for travel.

I have never used BE but am considering this might be a nice kit to try out their line. Looking foward to your review! Plus Sephora usually puts them on sale after the holidays!

I gave up on loose powders ages ago (too messy), but one of the shadows I’ve held onto and still use is Celestine. It is SUCH a gorgeous shade. Lights up the whole eye area. And, that bag looks pretty great, too.

I have some BE eyeshadows. The more neutral and subtle colors lasting power is good but the brighter colors like Azure when freshly applied looked beautiful but the color tended to fade on me in less than an hour! And that’s even with a primer (Two Face Shadow Insurance)!!

I’ve never tried anything from this brand, but I’ve heard a lot of great things about their products. Really curious to see your swatches of these, Karen. Looks like there are a lot of easy-to-wear shades.

Loose color always looks so luxurious to me. There’s something mystical about it that puts the fun back in makeup. 🙂 I don’t mind making a mess with loose shadows or pigments because the result is usually gorgeous. And cleanup isn’t too bad. But I’ll be the first to admit it is easier to work with loose blushes than loose eye shadows. I always use a base with the shadows, which helps so much. I can’t wait to read your review!

They are pretty and seem like a good value. However, I am not a fan of loose eye shadows. Too messy and end up not being so great a value because the amount of product you lose!
