Estée Lauder Double Wear Light ($42) is legit, and I know this because of my hot lunch date today with Connor and El Hub (Tabs would have come, too, but he was booked… BOO!).
It was chilly here today, so we got ramen…
Anywho… I didn’t wear a lot of makeup last weekend, and I was in the mood for a little something-something today, so while I was looking around for inspiration this morning, I found this easy bronze eyeshadow look from a MAC artist I just found on Instagram.
She’s so cute! Her name is Pelin Tutgun, and she’s from Turkey. She posted a video using one of my favorite MAC eyeshadows ever, Bronze (if you don’t have it yet, it’s amazing), a black liner and mascara.
And that’s it!
I love the end result and plan to do this look again soon. It’s kinda glam, but not overly glam, and best of all, it’s simple.
Makeup doesn’t have to be complicated all the time, ya know? I mean, it’s fun to get up in there with everything and the kitchen sink every once in a while, but I there’s something to be said for easy-peasy.
What I really wanna talk about now is the base I’m wearing! It’s a new one… Well, new to me. It’s part of the permanent line from Estée Lauder called Double Wear Light, and it’s SO FREAKIN’ GOOD.
I’m not sure exactly how to classify it… It’s kinda runny, so it feels comfy and light like a tinted moisturizer or BB/CC cream, but it’s highly pigmented and has a very polished soft matte finish.
On the Estée Lauder website, they describe it as a foundation for sheer-to-medium coverage, but I’d characterize it as straight-up medium right out of the gate. I only need to use a little for enough coverage to even out my skin tone but keep it looking natural.
I barely had to use any today — just a few drops on either side on my face — to hide the red areas on my cheeks and to partially disguise my freckles.
I can still see some of them…so this isn’t full coverage, but I think if I wanted to go that far, this could totally get me there.
Best part is how light it feels — like I’m not wearing any base makeup at all. And it’s very easy to use. Just blend with fingers. It also comes in a mess of shades, and it’s in the permanent line, so it isn’t going anywhere.
Seriously, so legit! Do yourself a favor and try it if you haven’t already.
Oh, yeah, another thing — if you’re wondering about the lip, I can’t officially talk about it yet…but it’s coming out next month. More deets soon! 🙂

Is it true Double Wear Light is being discontinued?

I chatted with a Estee Rep from their website yesterday and she said it’s not on the discontinued list.
I like this foundation a lot. I have a lot of different ones but when I can’t decide which one to use and I want to look nice the entire day, I like Double Wear Light. It doesn’t get patchy even after hours and hours. Glad to note that I’m not the only one who likes it ? It looks great on you!

Yes! And it’s one I can apply with fingers like a tinted moisturizer. That texture! Reminds me to wear it today 🙂 nice to have confirmation that it isn’t being discontinued. I had been worried about that myself because it’s on my Sephora loves list and I’ve noted that they haven’t had it in stock for a long time. I think they no longer carry it. Bloomingdales has been out of my shade (2.0) so I thought I should order a backup elsewhere. But I guess I’ll wait ☺️
Yeah, I was worried about it, too, which is why I asked the representative on the esteelauder.com site. If she said yes I would’ve bought a couple backups. 🙂

Another great look on you! I’ll have to try that eyeshadow again, I got it a year ago and didn’t exactly love it on myself. Maybe because I packed it on the lid and then had a mess of crease colors? I’m so envious of her liner skills. First of all I can’t even use a pencil on my upper lash line, it’s got to be a brush, and second, it takes me forever and I practically have to be kissing the mirror to get it on at all…

I’m so, so glad you tried out this foundation! It’s one of my absolute favorites ever, it’s like if I designed a foundation myself it’d be just like that. It’s perfect for when I want to look a little more polished but can’t stand the idea of feeling foundation on my face. And the finish! So flattering and sophisticated. I have no idea why it’s not talked about more than it is (i.e., I never see anyone talking about it), especially with how popular the regular DW is. I just wish the shade range was better!

Hey Karen – It’s so great to see you and some of your subscribers also liking Estee Lauder Double Wear Light! It’s been my go to for flawless, extended wear foundation for years. It’s travel friendly and handles any climate. A hint an Estee rep told me, if you are feeling a little dry (esp in winter) put a drop of their Advanced Night Repair (yes another Estee Lauder product, but I’ve also used it with other face oils as well) and it makes the foundation a little creamier to apply and is more hydrating. It also gives it a more satin like finish. I travel with a little bottle of ANR ($16 at Ulta) and use it if needed after flying. Also another HUGE win for me is it never settles into my lines. In fact this is the only foundation to actually make them look less pronounced which this almost 46 year old appreciates!
This is the best foundation EVER! It’s all that works for me.. and now I can’t find it! It slowly got discontinued from South Africa as my mom can no longer get it, and now in Ireland I can’t find it either.. it’s still on the UK Estee website but with limited colors.. so I think they are phasing it out. Saddest day ever!
They are reformulating it and it should hit the stores any day now. The reformulated version is called “Double Wear Light Hydra Matte” and it is basically the same formula but now comes in shades similar to Estee Lauder Double Wear (fresco, desert beige, Rattan, Tawny, etc.) instead of only intensity level. I tried a sample and love it!
What a relief! I went into panic mode this morning trying to find this foundation because my supply is running low! I hope the reformulated version is just as good.
