Some mornings are for blending six shadows on your lids, and other mornings are not.
Those are the mornings made for large quantities of coffee…and for cuddles…and for easy makeup.
Initially, when I set out to do this post, I planned to wear smokey, olive eye makeup on my lids to go with the bright fuchsia matte lipstick (All Fired Up — a MAC *must*), but Connor needed extra baby love in the morning, so that plan went out the window. *Poof!*
She’s just shy of four, and some days she’s big enough to handle ALL HER BUSINESS AND THEN SOME (“I’m a big girl, mama, and I can do it myself!”), but other days, like this one, she needs some extra hugs and songs, and I’m happy to oblige her. So, no blending of six shadows on this day for this mama, LOL!
Instead, I went with a hazy olive eyeliner (gotta love how forgiving blurred edges are), a wash o’ warm brown eyeshadow, and a matte fuchsia lipstick.
Yeah, it’s streamlined and totally unfussy, but I still like it a lot. The bold lip and the flash of shimmer in the liner give it some interesting elements.

I went all in with the lipstick and did a single opaque layer, which I applied directly from the tube, but if this much bright fuchsia is too intense for your style at the moment (I totally get it), you can always dab the lipstick bullet lightly on your lips for a sheer layer. Then, gently tap a fingertip on top of the lipstick to help it settle in and erase any hard edges.
After that, if it’s still too bright, mellow it out even more with a thin layer of pink or nude lipgloss.
Finally, blow yourself a kiss in the mirror because, believe it or not, you’re done! And you’re doing great! 🙂
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen
I’m sorry to be the one to tell you this but no one is looking at your makeup with that adorable bundle of joy in the pictures. HAHA! How can she be turning 4? It’s like we’re in a time-speeding machine! I’m glad you chose cuddles and songs – you’ll never regret that decision. <3
I know! How did four years go by?
Sweet! I love this easy does it with a dash of glamour look. and that baby girl is a lucky one that her mom is adjusting her get ready time with kid needs of the day. I hope she will one day mimic your flexibility, time management, can-do attitude and masterful eyeliner skills!
Aww, Lorraine! Thank you. 🙂
Happy, happy FRIDAY!
Great color combination idea! I’m going to try this on Saturday. Have a great weekend. Also, Conner is adorable.
You have a great weekend too, Maxine! Will you be watching the Superbowl?
These are some of my favorite photos of you too EVER! I feel like I say that at least once a month. But these are so great!
Enjoy these extra baby love mornings! I miss them so, especially now that I have a snarling teenage boy.

Aww, Jennifer! I will. *hugs*
I always enjoyed the days with extra cuddles. I used to sing to Dear Daughter every night before she went to sleep. It broke my heart when she said she was old enough and didn’t need it anymore. Sigh.
Love the unicorn top Connor Claire is wearing!
I think about that all the time, Tatiana. I sing Connor Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star and the Barney theme song every night, and I know that there will be a time when she will no longer want to hear her “N-night songs” from mama. I cherish this time! I know it won’t last forever.
To be honest, DD just started junior high when she asked me to stop. It lasted a lot longer than I expected. The singing stopped, but the kisses and cuddles did not. She still cuddles when she comes to the house to visit.
OMG! Karen, that last pic of you and Connor Claire is so gorgeous. I can see the joy and love you have for each other in your smiles. (Or is it the joy of unicorns?)
It might be the joy of unicorns! They’re popular around our corner of the world right now. 🙂 Doesn’t it make you happy that little girls are just as obsessed with unicorns now as they were when we were kids?!
I love the pops of color you’re sporting lately. Now I want: 1) That eyeliner, and 2) An outfit like Connor’s. I’d wear it, too. (I have a pink unicorn dress.)
LOL! All of her friends in preschool have the cutest unicorn-related clothes. I walk in there all the time thinking, “I wish that was available in an adult size.”
If only! I want unicorns, mermaids, sparkles, and holographic stuff. *sniffle*
I did get a great sweatshirt from Hot Topic (I know, I know). It’s black with a pink and purple unicorn head and it says “I feel magical…& Stabby.” It was too perfect!
I love olive eyeliner! I’ll always miss Chanel Khaki Précieux.
I remember that one and especially remember LOVING it. Le sigh! Chanel does the best khakis!
Did this warm my heart today! I’m always excited to see what looks you come up with. This one with Olive eyeliner I clicked so fast as I love these tones. But the photos of you and your girl just made my day. Heartwarming the bond you have. Singing songs and cuddles, so sweet you are together… you can see the joy 😊
It *is* super fast Diana! Thank goodness for quick, easy looks. There was a time when I started to feel like makeup needed take so long to do (like 30 minutes at the minimum every time), but now I’m happy to embrace looks like this one.
I hope you’re having a wonderful Friday so far. TGIF!
Connor is so photogenic!! What a cutie!!
Aww, thank you, Sherry!
She will grow fast!… enjoy cuddles while you can! Your eyes sparkle in this photo, when you look at her, who needs complicated eye makeup?
You look perfect, seeing you in that picture with your daughters it reminds me how big my son would have been ,
