Dolce & Gabbana Ethereal Collection Lipsticks and Lipgloss: Swatches and a Bad Pun

October 2nd, 2010 by Karen 44 Comments

dolce gabbana ethereal collection lip swatches

When you look in the mirror, what are your lips saying to you?

Do they offer words of encouragement? Do they build you up or tear you down?

Do they tell you you’re beautiful and say, “you’re making a difference in the world”? Do they say you’re important, unique, special, and tell you that you’re loved?

I hope so.

Today my lips are whispering the quiet, hushed tones of Dolce & Gabbana’s upcoming holiday collection and saying, “hurry up and take these pictures, Karen, and let’s go to the movies, ha!” 🙂

Collection Details

The 15-piece Dolce & Gabbana Ethereal Collection arrives at Saks Fifth Avenue stores (and online at saks.com) a little later this month. There are eight lip items in different nude, bronze, brown, pink and beige shades; four shimmery lipsticks; two shimmery lip glosses; and two matte lip liners. All of the lipsticks and glosses have a light rose scent and flavor, but the lip liners don’t. The lipsticks are priced at $30, lipgloss at $29 and the lipliner at $30, and all of the colors are new to the line.

Okay, now, I’ve been trying to come up with some kind of amusing pun having to do with nakedness to end this post. How about, “Would you go skinny dipping with these nude shades?”

Yeah, I know. Sometimes it doesn’t work. 🙂

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Breast Cancer Awareness MonthP.S. I warned you that I would keep cajoling you to participate in the Breast Cancer Awareness Month “Show Your Sign” project, so that’s what I’m doing right now… Hey, you, lady at the computer, I know you have a blank piece of paper and a camera phone in the house. That’s all it takes to enter, hint hint.

I’ve been trying a exfoliating product from Trish McEvoy — the Beta Hydroxy Pads:

I bought ’em on a whim last month at Nordstrom! They cost and arm and a leg but I think they’re starting to help with the skin texture, especially!

      Hi Debbie,

That’s my fave foundation/powder combo for pics working its magic: Laura Mercier Oil-Free Foundation topped with a 50/50 mix of MAC Prep+Prime Powder and MAC Blot.

On my cheeks I’m wearing stuff from Dolce & Gabbana Holiday — Luminous Cheek Colour in Rosebud on the apples and Bronzer in Cashmere just below the apples to add some contour.

I’m new to MAC makeup so reading this is great.
The prime powder is one product and MAC blot is another? How do you mix them? I’ve only ever used Bare Escentuals powdered foundation so I’m not too familiar with other options. I’ve always wanted to try something new but am afraid with my oily skin (dry in the AM oily by the PM).
        Thank you again!

Karen these all look amazing on you. Thanks for the preview. I’m going to need 1 of everything from the collection. I wonder how Honey compares to Glossy. Guess I’ll just have to wait and see.

      Hi Sabrina,

I don’t have Glossy, but Honey’s a very warm, sheer peach with subtle gold shimmer, if that helps. I noticed that If I pile too much on it starts looking a little porn star!

glossy is more beige and has no noticable shimmer. Its a great nude for people who dont want anything peachy .

They all look so pretty! When I look in the mirror, my lips are saying “Exfoliate me! Give me some lip balm! I’m thirsty!” (I had a cold this week, and my lips got soooo dried out!)

Well, you know I like the Shimmer lipgloss (of course!), but that Desert lipstick looks great on you. I’m just seeing your sign contest this AM, so I’ll have to read up and see if I can get creative. I did an awesome luminary bag for the Relay for Life this year but unfortch it wasn’t breast cancer themed. I know, my laziness knows no bounds. 🙂
