Dance Break! And Bobbi Brown Holiday 2011 Pics and Swatches

October 5th, 2011 by Karen 50 Comments

bobbi brown holiday 2011

I hate that it’s socially unacceptable for adults in polite company to spontaneously sing and dance. I mean, it was acceptable in high school, right? — when we’d all go buck wild at the drive-thru to Madonna’s Holiday in Jen’s old Datsun (WHITE LIGHTNIN’ FOR EVA!!) — so why can’t people who are old enough to vote also sing their favorite Top 40 hits in line at the DMV? 🙂

I miss being able to get away with things like that (not that one exactly, though). At some point on the road from adolescence to adulthood, spontaneous singing and dancing goes from being an acceptable way to blow off steam, to being something only tolerated from adults who are inebriated, filming a video, or busting moves in a flash mob at the mall.

Well ptooey! on that. We can dance if we want to (we can leave our cares behind), and what better time to dance than while looking at pics and swatches of the new Bobbi Brown Holiday Collection, available now at BB counters and also online.

I can still do the choreo to this dance; my 8-year-old self would be proud

Can you spare a few minutes to add a little sparkle to your eyes and cheeks?

Even if you aren’t obsessed with makeup, I think you might really like this launch (it’s mostly eye palettes, with a lip gloss trio thrown in for variety) because the colors aren’t scary. The neutrals, plums and single blip of blue lend a polished look to professionals who aren’t interested in overly bright, blingy holiday looks.

Take a peek at four of the seven pieces here, and let me know if you see anything you like.

Today’s been flying by, hasn’t it? I feel like I just rolled out of bed, but it’s already the afternoon!

How are tricks in your neck of the wood? Anything new to report? 🙂

What is it that you’re not liking? Are the colors not bright enough?

The colors are pretty, but the collection doesn’t really seem all that special. I think I have most of these shades in my collections already. No real need for any of these palettes, but I still enjoyed seeing the pictures! Thank you!

I don’t know why, but I just don’t care for Bobbi Brown makeup that much. I like neutrals, but I’ve never really been impressed with her products. Maybe I haven’t tried the right things yet! The Black Ruby Sparkle palette DOES look pretty, though.

Ohhh I’ve been wanting to try out Bobbi Brown makeup but it wasn’t available where I live but now that there’s a store that sells it, I’m pretty excited to try some products out! 🙂

The one I’m eyeing for now is Black Ruby Sparkle Eye Palette, looks gorgeous especially the taupe color! I’ve been obsessed with anything to do with taupe! Haha

Well, I have large eyes that protrude out, so sometimes bright colors look too…crazy. Like I just busted out of an asylum. LOL.

I love bright colors, but I use them at photo shoots. Whenever possible. 😀

It’s love at first sight with me and the Neutral Party Palette! I’ve never loved a set of neutrals so much! <– I haven't even tried them yet, but I already love Bobbi Brown's shadows. I can't wait to pick this one up! I wish they had the Party To Go in a more neutral option. Don't get me wrong, I love the colors, but Deep Red Lips + Dark Shadow + 8th Grade = Ehhh..

Try the Classic to Go Palette — it’s the more neutral version of Party to Go.

Ahh, eighth grade. I remember it like it was yesterday…

OMG I Freaking LOVE that song!!! I’ve been blasting it the last week, reminds me of early summer when it’s not too hot outside and things are really blossoming. I just love that dance, I wish I could do it! Maybe one day I’ll break it down into little pieces so this body can get a hold of it 🙂 Thanks for posting such an awesome vid. My favorite piece from this collection is the Party On The Go. I think it’s the most fun.

I remember it taking forever to learn that dance! I taped the video off of MTV and hit play/rewind so much that I nearly wore it out. 🙂 Are you a Madge fan, too?

And yes, Party On the Go is a lot of fun. I wore it around the house today… loved it! The purple is awesome.

Oh, Black Ruby, of course! But I will resist. Droopy eyelid. Droopy eyelid. 🙂

Yeah, um, I still rock out in the car. And sometimes sing (badly) in stores and such. I usually have the kids for cover, though. Then it just looks like “hey, that’s sweet. That mom is singing/dancing with her kids”. Hopefully. HAHA! Lately, one of them has been obsessed with Adele’s Someone Like You and will belt it out, whenever. I know we’re in trouble when he says “Mommy, this time I’m going to sing it with FEELING”. 🙂

I loved the palettes and Bobbi Brown is a brand that can really put on glam quotient to the neutrals. I just felt that the plummy lipgloss looked a bit out of place otherwise the collection is fabulous.

I believe holidays are about sparkles and fun and not necessarily bold colors and dramatic makeup. Its fun to have bold colors in our stash but those are the colors that can be easily forgotten.
