Clinique Black Tie Violets Collection: Swatch Me, I’m Falling!

‘Twas the night before Saturday, when all through the house
Not a beauty addict was stirring, not even a mouse.

Makeup brushes were hung by the chimney with care,
In hopes that St Violet soon would be there.

Behold the real fruits of my Friday night labor! I went all swatch crazy with Clinique’s new Black Tie Violets collection, whee!

Here’s a quick look at seven of the 11 pieces from the collection (a limited edition holiday release).

Let me know if anything pops out at ya. 🙂

Seriously, I must have walked through a temporal rift today. Time buzzed by in the morning but slowed way down tonight.

I have tons of energy right now, too. It’s weird. It doesn’t feel late at all. I’m thinking about renting a movie on iTunes and watching it on my computer in the dark.

Did you do anything fun and actually out of the house tonight, LOL? Can I live vicariously through you?

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

P.S. Tabs got a clean bill of health today when the vet called with his blood test results, but the doctor did say he wanted Tabs not to party so hard. Tabs just rolled his eyes and went back to texting on his iPhone… Rotten cat. 🙂

So much is calling me from this collection!

    1. The BLUSH–looks amazing!!!
    2. The Cream Liner–purple! I don’t have a purple cream liner yet, it looks great. Wonder how the staying power is like?
    3. Both of the lipsticks–they look really good on you!
    4. The lipgloss/plumper–it looks really good in the tube. Fingers crossed it’s pigmented enough for my lips! (Though it looks quite sheer on yours.)

The eyeshadow palette looks a little blah, the colors look the same as a previous palette I’ve seen from them. (I think)

      Hi Maggie,

The staying power is good. It’s comparable to a Bobbi or MAC gel liner. 🙂

I believe this is the first collection I’ve seen in a while where I absolutely love everything! Especially the cream liner – I’ve been looking for one like it for a long time. The quad looks gorgeous too, although that might be because I’m in love with all things purple 😛
I work every Friday, boo! But I saw the movie 2012 at midnight last night, and despite the fact that it was terrible I still had a lot of fun roaming the streets of Boston with my friends at 3 in the morning 😀

That is… purpletastic! I think it’s a cool collection but I could not imagine wearing all of it together. Maybe it’s just my love of nudes talking.

I had a big beauty day. Sephora, MAC and Lancome counters at Macy’s, and sephora.com (ever notice when you go to Sephora looking for a couple particular things you always forget one?) The MUA at MAC wiped my tentative neutral eye (Femme Fi + Warming Trend + a teeny bit of Espresso) right off and had me rocking Mythology and Sketch eyeshadows… and now I’m seriously doubting my ability to recreate the look. I plan to give it a shot tomorrow!

Yay for a clean bill of health for Tabs!

So is “swatch me I’m falling” a play on words on an obscure freestyle song from the 80s by a little known recording artist named Connie? I’m thinking that it may be. Sometimes I wonder if the rest of the world even knew about freestyle or did that entire genre exist solely for the listening pleasure of Northern Cali?

Karen, you’re right it was Pretty Poison. Wow. What a blast from the past! I had no idea that song was on a movie soundtrack. Do you remember what movie that was? It didn’t look familiar to me. Also, I agree about the New Jersey thing. I think that’s where most of the freestyle recording artists were based. I just meant that when I was growing up I had friends and family in other parts of Cali or other states and none of them were even aware of freestyle music. Of course I didn’t know anyone in New Jersey. Heh. 🙂

      Hi Sole,

I *still* love that song; it’s on my iPod on my workout music list. The movie soundtrack thing is news to me… perhaps somebody in New Jersey knows the answer to this trivia question?!?

BTW, Stevie B. came up here to Northern Cal earlier this year for this concert called Freestyle Explosion. Yeah, I’m kicking myself for not going.

Karen, they have freestyle concerts like twice a year in Salinas (where I grew up) and they pack the place every time. I think Stevie B. gets out there quite often. But Salinas is like in a time warp so it makes sense. I think they still have freestyle shows in San Jose too, which is closer to you.

I assumed it was from a movie since the video seems like it’s cutting to scenes from a movie. And Jon Cryer was in it. Hold on, let me Google it…okay the movie was called Hiding Out. Never heard of it.
