Chanel Les Tentations de Chanel: A Friday Face of the Day

October 8th, 2010 by Karen 39 Comments

What’s up, ladies? It’s Friday, WOOT WOOT!

Okay…that little outburst actually spent the last of my energy. Now I’m plum tuckered out because, like a doofus, I stayed up too late last night watching the Jersey Shore. Lame, I know, but I just couldn’t pull myself away. Needless to say, coffee and I have been BFFs today (err, coffee and makeup).

Before I crashed and burned this afternoon, I tried the new Chanel Le Tentations de Chanel Holiday 2010 Collection on for size, and ooh, baby! — I’m lovin’ these chocolate browns and playful pinks.

Sure, the collection doesn’t exactly fit your standard holiday fare, but who cares? If you like it, you like it. And besides, it’s not like early October is the dead of winter, right?

In these shots here, that’s the Tentation Cuivrée quad atop the Fluid Iridescent Eyeshadow in Splash on my eyes, Tweed Fuchsia blush on my cheeks and Magnolia lipstick topped with Pink Pulsion Glossimer on my lips.

Even in my semi-conscious haze (NOTE TO SELF: Stop watching bad reality TV after midnight!), this wasn’t a difficult look to do because of how well the colors in the quad work together.

Oh, and I didn’t really appreciate this until I had it on my skin, but the light pink shade has the cutest little bits of glitter; I’m looking forward to wearing it as a single wash of color over the entire eye.

The dark brown shadow’s also full of surprises. It has this subtle duochrome quality to it where it appears to flash from dark brown to plum to bronze, depending on the light. SO HAWT!

Now wouldn’t you know it? Here I am all decked out but too tired to party.

Wait — did I just say party? LOL!

I don’t know… Maybe I’ll just hit the Whole Foods salad bar, you know, ’cause that’s how I roll. 🙂

Let me know what you’ve been up to today. Do you have any plans this weekend? I’ve got a personal project — to build the perfect (or at least good) ’90s hip-hop/RNB playlist, so shoot me your suggestions in the comments.

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

P.S. Speaking of ’90s RNB, remember Mint Condition’s Pretty Brown Eyes? ‘Twas my jam back in the day.

    Hi Karen!

I’ve never used the Fluid Iridescent Eyeshadow before. Does it last well on extremely oily eyelids?? I love Chanel. I have tons of their polish and eye quads!

      Hi Tzu,

I think so. I usually wear it on top of a base (I’m wearing Urban Decay Eden in these pics) and set it with a powder shadow so it stays on all day long without creasing. They also stay on fairly well all by their lonesome too!

So pretty! I might have to break down and get this quad! So many shades of brown oxidize on my eyes though, so I have to be careful when buying brown shadows. I haven’t tried the Chanel Fluid Iridescent eye shadow before – do they last for a while and do they crease at all? Love the whole look on you! Very pretty! Have fun making your playlist!

      Hi Toni,

On my semi-oily lids they’re great. For some reason the liquid formula really sticks to my skin! I’ve had it on all day w/Urban Decay Eden primer underneath and the shadows from the quad on top and haven’t had any creasing at all.

    Hey Karen,
That is one beautiful eye look!! I’m not familiar w/ the Chanel makeup line, so I’m a bit confused here…
Is the eyeshadow a mix of all the quad colors or just one? Also, do you think that duochrome quality comes from layering it w/ the creme or could I get that look just w/ the shadow?

You may be tired Karen, but you are still lookin’ hot! Funny how Chanel and Dolce Gabbana have gone down the non plummy winter route – had you had a look at DG’s new collection? Scarlett looks like she’d been bathed in Dom Perignon!

Karen, those colors are perfect on you! You look absolutely radiant. I know it’s only early October, but I find myself reaching for this collection again and again. It’s all on the sparkly side–I guess that’s the holiday aspect–but even a woman of my age (62) can do beautiful things with that quad and blush so long as we’re mindful of how much and where we’re placing the fairy dust 🙂

And Magnolia–so versatile! I like it with Rose Dilemma or Charming, but gave Pink Pulsion a miss when I was at the counter because I thought it might be a bit garish on me. After seeing it on your lips, though, I can really appreciate how well thought out this Chanel lip collection is. Charming over Magnolia gives my lips a crystal like finish with tiny sparkles that catch and reflect the light. Pink Pulsion over Magnolia makes your lips look so lush and there’s a depth to the shine that I’d liken to a candy apple finish. You’ve inspired me! I’ll definitely need to go back for Pink Pulsion.

I just recently got this quad and I’ve noticed I’ve been having some difficulty with the application, ie: getting to colors to show up and blending. Do you use a wet brush? Any tips?
