Chanel Holiday 2009: The Aqualumiere Glosses Head to the Tropics

October 7th, 2009 by Karen 17 Comments

One chilly afternoon, three BFFs came up with a plan to survive the cloudy skies and biting cold of winter.

The three of them — Jacquelyn (pronounced Zhack-LEEN), Celeste and Lana — had known each other for years, having met at a crowded Chanel Master Class in the city.

The classes soon became a yearly ritual. This year, they went hoping to play with the lovely Aqualumiere Glosses.

Surrounded by Chanel, their minds wandered to warmer weather…

“I know!” said Lana, a pile of Glossimers on the desk beside her, “Let’s go to Kauai!” 🙂

So, the three friends booked a week-long tropical getaway together, pledging to leave their cares (and the cold) behind.

They left right away, boarding a plane dressed for success — strappy sandals, bikinis, bright sundresses and, tucked away inside their luggage, the latest Aqualumiere Glosses from Chanel (Holiday 2009, $27 each).

All three shiny and sheer, non-sticky glosses are just the things for a tropical getaway.

Jacquelyn, the outgoing flirt, loved shimmery coral Canari. With it on, she knew no man could resist her charms (or her Brazilian-cut bikini).

Celeste, the shy bookworm with a wild streak, fell for shimmery pink Hirondelle.

Quick-witted Lana’s penchant for sarcasm often landed her in trouble at bars and baseball games — the only two places she loved more than Disneyland. A fanatic for smokey eyes and nude lips, she opted for sheer beige Colibri.

As the plane climbed above the gray, damp city below, the friends felt their cares float away…

Raising three champagne-filled plastic cups, they made a toast:

“To the girls who always have my back,” said Celeste.

“To another exciting adventure,” said Jacquelyn.

“And to our three super hot new Aqualumieres!” said Lana. 🙂

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

P.S. Chanel just posted a video online of yesterday’s Spring/Summer 2010 Ready-to-Wear Fashion Show in Paris. I’m loving the shoes, the pinkish beige lips on the models and the big ol’ bale of haaaay in the middle of the floor.

These look a bit sheer and the colours look very similar on the lips. How are the pigmentation for these and are they easily buildable? They look lovely in the tube though. I like Canari.

      Hi Caitlin,

Wasn’t that show cool? I wish I could’ve been there in person to see it! I also kinda wish there were some barnyard animals up in the mix, ha ha ha.

    Hi bianca,

It’s huge news among bloggers, but I don’t think it’s a bad thing. The idea is to protect readers from scammers who are really just writing paid posts for companies. It sounds like a good idea to me.

I think that the blush used on the models in the SS10 show looks fantastic. It’s in the new spring collection, can’t wait!

      Hi Astrid,

The makeup and styling was fantastic. I wish I could afford to rock Chanel ready-to-wear from head to toe! Le sigh…

Y’know, it occurs to me that you could probably skip freelancing and make a perfectly decent living writing sassy romance novels… if you were so inclined! 😉

      Hi Glosslizard,

It’s been a minute since I’ve read a heaving bosom novel, LOL! I did enjoy them back in the day…

Right now I’m slowly plowing my way through another Sookie Stackhouse book. It’s taking FOREVER. I’m starting to lose my momentum.

I’m loving all of these, and the lippies you posted the other day. I already have an aqualumiere obsession and wear the lippie in waikiki most days topped with the gloss in diamond rose. I just think the formula of these glosses is the best i’ve ever tried, non sticky and moisurising too! I think I will get Colibri, will I be able to resist the other 2?

Welcome to Makeup and Beauty Blog
Hi there! I’m Karen, your friendly neighborhood beauty addict, and I’m a Bay Area girl who hoards brown eyeshadow and covets coral lipstick. Every morning, I wake up and say, “I’m going to do something other than a smoky eye today.” Then…I end up doing a smoky eye anyway (most days). When I’m not putting on makeup, taking pictures of makeup or writing about makeup, which I’ve been doing daily since 2007 (!), you’ll find me hanging out with my hubby (“El Hub”), my four-year-old daughter (Connor Claire) and my torbie girl cat (Pretty Girl Rosie, a.k.a. PGR).
