Benefit Benetint Lip Balm SPF 15 and a Quick Holla at My Girls

September 1st, 2009 by Karen 34 Comments

benetint lip balm review 1

Hi gals,

Hello and good morning — oops, more like good afternoon. I’ve been MIA because I spent the morning plastered to the couch watching The Family Stone with Tabs, my favorite blanket and a box of Kleenex.

Last night I got nada for sleep, and this morning I woke up with a migraine and an overwhelming feeling of weepy, PMS-y yuckiness. You ever have one of those days? Ugh.

I’m sure it’ll pass quickly, but for now I think I need to let it work through my system. I swear tears sometimes feel like fibrous roughage for the soul.

Of course, I couldn’t leave you hanging without a beauty fix, which is why I wanted to quickly share my new favorite lip product, Benefit Benetint Lip Balm SPF 15 ($20).

It tints lips with a hint of shiny red color, creating an effortless, easy look in seconds — perfect for minimal makeup days when you’re running errands, or when you need a mental health day involving the couch, the remote and your trusty cat/dog/iguana/etc.

Even with jacked-up hair, hella sketchy breath and ratty jammies (which, coincidentally, are covered in crumbs and Nutella), I feel a little better with this lightly tinted, non-sticky, ultra-moisturizing balm on my pucker.

I hope your Tuesday is treating you well. BRB in a few …

      Hi Michelle,

Oh, I would love that too. Can you imagine it in a hot pink?

I am feeling much better, thanks to a bath and some Haagen Daz. 🙂 How has your day been?

      Hi Katherine,

I hope you give it a go! It’s a very nice lip balm — plus, the SPF is always a nice touch.

Thanks for the well wishes. I’m feeling better now. 🙂

And I too hope you feel better. Maybe if you curl up with Tabs for a cat nap you’ll perk up 🙂

      Hi Caitlin,

There’s nothing like a cat nap with a kitty to soothe the soul. Now Tabs is refusing to leave my bed. I think he believes it belongs to him now.

How are you doing? Have you started school?

I love lip balms and this color is so sweet. As you said Karen I think will be perfect for a natural makeup and good to wear in one of these days when you don’t feel into makeup:)

It looks pretty but do I really need a new one.

I just got the yes to carrots lip tint at Target this weekend. I also don’t prefer the packaging of lip balms in the jar/pot where I have to use my fingers to apply them- I’d rather it was in the stick tube where I can directly apply it to my lips-

Aww…Feel better soon! I love lip balm with such a bold color, although I wish that Benetint Lip Balm had a little more color to it once it’s applied.

As for the lip balm, I’ve noticed that if you lay it on thick with a lip brush the color pops a little more.

OMG Family Stone! My blood pressure is ratcheting up a notch. A few years ago when it came out, I was going through a difficult time, as my dad was being treated for a brain tumor. My friends were all, “let’s go see Family Stone! It looks like a funny romantic comedy!”

Yeah, except for the part where it was a total bait and switch, and it was the most freaking depressing movie ever. And can I say (sort of spoiler alert!) that when you are looking to be distracted from your parent having cancer, this is THE.WORST.MOVIE.EVER to see? Sorry for the yelling but seriously, I felt like asking for my money back. You need some Bridget Jones to cheer you up, Karen.

And the Benefit lip balm looks nice . . .but was I the only only who saw it and thought “ooh, Benefit baby food!”?

      Hi Faye,

Yeah, I wept through most of it. Probably not the brightest idea to watch that particular movie… I ended up throwing in Under the Tuscan Sun and a few eps of SATC afterward. 🙂

Oh, ew, I hate PMS. Thankfully, mine are a little better thanks to some medicine. Those days I just lie in bed with an ice pack on my head, my migraine meds within arm’s reach, water and Zena as a companion. Zena schmoozes up to anyone who’s feeling icky (usually my mom or me) and keeps us company USUALLY. Sometimes, she doesn’t want to grace the infirmed with her presence. She can be a priss at times.

I hope your feeling better and Tabs is being affectionate toward his human.

      Hi Kate & Zena,

I gotta say that your pup has a lot of personality. I love that in a dog — the boring ones, while often sweet, can be a chore.

Tabs has been a very good kitteh today. He spent most of the day by my side.

Ha ha, she is never, ever dull. She may be 5 and a half but that dog has the personality of a puppy. A fickle, charming, prissy, moody, suck-up puppy dog.

Oh, I think the fact she has personality makes her even more of a chore. She absolutely resists being trained unless there’s high value food (Grilled Cheese Crust, Carry Out Dog Treats in Beef, Cheese, Meat, etc). Even when it’s around she totally doesn’t do the trick and instead does ANOTHER trick and I smack my head in frustration as I told her, “Roll,” (i.e. rolling on her back with her paws up all cute-like. It’s a work in process) not, “Stand.” I must tell her ‘sit’ four times before Her Holiness will sit her Holy Rear on the sidewalk on walks (it’s better now but still aggravating). She butts into your room whilst your changing if you don’t close your door all the way. If her food doesn’t have a teensy sprinkling of “pixie dust” (aka water) she will not eat it until she absolutely MUST. I wonder how I put up with her sometimes. And then, she side crawls like a lizard across the living room carpet and I know why. She pays you back in giggles and love.

Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww, look at Tabs being a gentleman. That sounds so cute.
