Wield a Blending Brush Like a Wizard Wields a Wand With the $40 BECCA Ombre Nudes Eye Palette

BECCA Ombre Nudes Eye Palette

“Is that the girl Kiera Knightly calls to get her beat face?”

With BECCA’s Ombre Nudes Eye Palette ($40) in your makeup bag, peeps will wonder if you’re a celeb makeup artist. The palette makes it a whole lot easier to create professional-caliber, super-blended eye looks, even if you’re totally new to makeup.

Seriously. If I gave a four-year-old hopped up on Oreos and Cherry Coke a couple blending brushes, this palette, a blindfold and my face, that kid would create hella tight makeup looks at least some of the time. 🙂 It’s that good.

BECCA Ombre Nudes Eye Palette

The palette houses five matte brown neutral eyeshadows, some of which only vary slightly, and they all have subtle gray undertones. Some of the shades are so closely related that they wouldn’t even be allowed to marry in some states. 🙂

Because the shades are so similar, they’re very easy to transition into each other, making them absolutely fabulous for hazy, blown-out eyes with subtle gradients.

And the velvety formula helps. The shadows glide and slide like Tom Cruise in Risky Business. They’re easy to coax with my blending brush, and no problems with fallout.

That said, I’d still be careful with that 224 because things can turn muddy very quickly.

BECCA Ombre Nudes Swatches

BECCA Ombre Nudes Eye Palette
I’m wearing Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush in Luminous Flush and Incandescent Electra on my cheeks and Tom Ford Lip Color Matte in Plum Lush on my lips.

This blended matte brown eye look I’m wearing is one of my all-time favorites. It ain’t flashy, but I don’t think it ever goes out of style. Sometimes I use it as sort of a blank canvas to showcase something else, like a bright lip or glittery liner, and I think it’s equally at home at parties or dressed down for work.

P.S. Kiera? I know you’ve got Lisa Eldridge on speed dial (OMG, LOVE HER!), but if you’re ever near Novato, guuuurl, you know where to find me and my palette of BECCA Ombre Nudes. We got ‘chu. 🙂

PRICE: $40
AVAILABILITY: Available now at BECCA counters, Sephora stores and sephora.com
MAKEUP AND BEAUTY BLOG RATING: A- (The shadows can get a little muddy if you over-blend them.)

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

This palette is so easy. Like taking candy. from a babyyy… One stop shop for smoky eyes when there is no time for all that tiny-circles-with-a-brush jazz.

Haha! I love how you can literally just throw these colors on and then do a half-@ss job blending and it STILL looks good! It’s so easy. 🙂

Happy (almost) Friday to ya. Got any plans yet for the weekend?

I love shadows that blend easily! I have 2 1/2 more hours of work to do then I’m off to my kickboxing class. How’s Tabs doing?

Ooh, fun! Enjoy getting your sweat on. Roundhouse kick! BAM!

Tabs is still very crabby today. Maybe it’s the weather? He hates the rain. Sometimes I think he blames me for it. LOL

I eyed this palette for soooo long. Unfortunately, I was unimpressed with it in person. I think the grey undertones won’t complement my brown skin. Still think it’s a great value & a wonderful palette for those who can pull it off. Your writing style is so, so wonderful! Always makes reading your blog my favorite!

I remember you mentioning that you were lemming it. Bummer that it didn’t work out for you, but that just means there’s more space in your makeup bag for something fabulous, right? 🙂 How do you like your matte brown eyeshadows? With orange undertones?

Hi Karen! Thank you for responding. I’d love to find a brown with yellow undertones. But, alas, I’m not sure that exists. Though I swatched a brown eyeshadow from Makeup Forever & it seemed like it’d be a great fit.

I didn’t get the name (was running through Sephora just to have a look-see) but I’d be able to locate it at the store. I bought one of Tarte’s LE Amazonian Clay palettes. I like it ok and I enjoy having it in my stash.

I’m thinking I’ll look into Makeup Geek to see what she has. Her eyeshadows get great reviews!

Hmmm, I trying to think of a golden brown and what comes to mind is MAC Soba. It might too light for you though.

Do you have MAC Interrupted? It’s a Pro Longwear Eyeshadow. That might work for you too!

      Hi Rocior,

Thank you! 🙂 I’ve been pretty much using the same foundation combo over the last couple of months — Laura Mercier Flawless Fluide on top of MAC Prep + Prime Natural Radiance and Smashbox Pore Minimizing Primer. I will try to remember to add the foundation info too, though!

I love these colors! simple but so pretty. You’re killing me with these Tom Ford lipsticks though. Each of them is so pretty. Maybe I deserve one as a 30th birthday gift from myself?

Inner dialogue: Her lips look amazing. I must have that lipstick. I hope it’s not the unaffordable Tom Ford matte. *scrolls down* Dammit…

Maybe Santa will bring me a few!

Just checked out Uninterrupted (that’s the shade I found online when I searched for Interrupted by MAC?). I must say, it looks like THE perfect brown-shade I’ve been looking for all of my makeup lovin’ life.

I was about to lose hope. Thanks for the rec. It has now been added to my wish list. It also got rave reviews for how beautiful it is for blending out colors. Pretty sure it’ll be a workhorse for me ☺️

I have been eyeing those shadows for a bit. Maybe I should buy them before I go on my one year no buy ban. UGhh decisions. Would you but these shadows or the Simpson palette in trillion dollar look?

I’m really curious to see how the Laura Mercier smoky suedes looks compared to this! I love matte eyeshadows but there are usually so few in a palette that I’ve stocked my own personal matte palette so now I tend to go for shimmery shades that I can use along with that!

Wow, a whole palette with only nude mattes?! WHERE CAN I BUY THIS CUTIE?! The colors look so good and “simple” on you, I love me some good matte shadows and these over here look fantastic!
    Love, Stefi

The moment i set my eyes on this palette at Sephora I fell in love but because it’s not Limited Edition I decided to wait and get the tarte bon voyage set instead because I can pick this one up at a later date; now I’m not sure if I should get this one or the tarte spring 2015 palette (which I have also seen and although it is lovely I feel it is very similar to the bon voyage set). Oh well, I will have to make up my mind soon or maybe i will be able to get both if none of the collections coming out from other companies appeals to me.
