An Estée Lauder Bronze Goddess Has Been Spotted in Capri: The New Bronze Goddess Capri Collection, Coming in March

February 28th, 2012 by Karen 31 Comments

It’s never good when you get a text from your boss that starts with the words, “Uh, oh.”

There I was, sitting at my desk, minding my own business and surfing the Lonely Planet website on my break for summertime surf destinations, when I hear the familiar sound of my iPhone signaling a new text message. I look down at the screen and see the words, “Uh, oh.”

Long story short, because Tabs booked back-to-back kitty modeling jobs for every week this summer, I don’t get to take any vacation time through September.

Not one day.

“Uh, oh,” he says. “All booked up for summer. No vacations for either of us.”

Either of us, he says. As if! He’s not the one stuck in Novato. He gets to see the world, stay at four-star hotels, eat at the best restaurants, and never has to pay a thing, while I’m eating grilled-cheese sandwiches at home and having Mango Bars for dessert.

Sometimes, it’s just not fair…

Seriously, his idea of slumming it is having to stay at the Four Seasons on The Big Island, instead of Maui.

I know, I know — Tabs is the talent; I’m just the assistant. But that doesn’t mean I don’t have a right to get angry.

Oh, well… Hopefully these new pieces from the limited edition Estée Lauder Bronze Goddess Capri Collection can cheer me up.

The summer 2012 release coasts on to counters stores next month (it’s currently available now online) and comes with two summery fragrances and 13 bronzed bits, some new and some re-promoted, in sun-kissed shades of gold, brown, turquoise and white.

Reviews coming just as soon as I finish transcribing Tabs’ manuscript.

Oh, yeah — didn’t I mention? He’s writing his autobiography right now. It begins, “Meow, mrow, meow-meow.”

What a diva, right? Cat’s got some nerve… 🙂

Here’s a quick look at seven pieces from the release. Have a look, and let me know what you think.

I can’t wait to put it on toes. It should look really pretty with a pair of neutral wedges, yes?

Me too! I would love that right now: a hammock, a cold iced tea (extra sweet and with mint!) and the sound of the waves… ahhh!

So, the Powder Gelee. It’s really cool. Super pigmented, soft and almost creamy!

Wow, the palette looks so beautiful!!! But I was slightly disappointed by the color swatch, they’re not very special. I love the shimmering powder (even though I don’t know how to use shimmering powder… or highlight powder… my face is just weird…).

      Hi Jennifer,

The colors might be a little basic, but I think that can be a good thing! At least you’ll be able in incorporate the neutrals into a lot of different looks.

You are totally right! I can’t wait to see the look you’re going to create with this palette. You always make the nicest makeup looks that are so natural, but yet original and sometimes with a little oomph! I am waiting with impatience! 😉

Hoping to do something either today or tomorrow! I am chomping at the bit to get to that blue in the center. 🙂 It’s overcast here today and I think I need a little color.

How’s the weather out your way?

Ooh, now that is one *seriously* cute warm-weather collection. I love how well-coordinated everything is – and those shades!

I can’t wait to see what kind of look you do with the palette, Karen 🙂 The colours all look amazing swatched on your skintone!

      Hi Kiwidragon,

Yeah, the Bronze Goddess collections always get me, too.

Regarding your question, the liquid bronzer has a very faint floral scent. The Bronze Goddess fragrance is a repromote; here’s a review I did on the Body Oil Spray from a few years back:

      https://www.makeupandbeautyblog.com/product-reviews/estee-lauder-has-a-lil-something-for-bronze-and-not-so-bronze-goddesses/

I love the scent and wear it throughout the summer. It’s just so beachy!

The new Bronze Goddess Capri has similar notes, but it’s a little more musky and richer.

I ordered this and am still waiting on it. Thank you for the swatches. I wonder if the colors of the palette would be intensified by being wet? The other cyber colors I have are—beautiful palette!

      Hi Katherine,

Yes, you can make the shades look more metallic by wetting your brush first. I usually use MAC Fix+.

Aren’t the Cybers super cool? Estee Lauder’s gotten really hip in the last few years.

Ooh, I like the polish color. On a funny note, I thought the starfish in your eyeshadow pic was your left hand making an “L” and I was like “hmmm, I wonder why Karen is wearing white gloves…”. HAHA!

Oh, hey, guess what? I finally picked up a Sonia Kashuk bent eyeliner brush after the dentist yesterday. I used it this AM and really liked it. I have to confess that my pencil liner and the other 2 powders I applied with the brush are all shades of brown, but at least I have a new tool. 🙂
