9 Things: My Makeup Lust List

April 24th, 2008 by Karen 52 Comments

‘Twas a slooow day for me today, so during a break I did one of the things I do best: cruise for makeup online! Here’s my current makeup lust list!

Makeup Lust List

1. The entire MAC Neo Sci Fi collection ($14-21)!!!

2. The entire Nars summer collection! ($22-$32) – Hot, hot and hot! I’ll have to “adopt” the Unconditional Love Duo Cream Eyeshadow and Supervixen Lipgloss, ASAP.

3. Hanae Mori Butterfly Eau Fraiche Fragrance ($65) – I’m dying to try this out. Sephora.com says it’s a fruity floral with notes of grapefruit, strawberry, black currant and jasmine, and although I haven’t sniffed it yet, my fragrance ESP tells me (hopes) it smells divine.

4. Guerlain Meteorites Powder Pearls in Pink Fresh ($51) – Ooh! I wish I had jewelry with pearls as big as these powder pearls.

5. Fresh Island Reverie Face Palette ($55) – Now, this is the palette I’d want to bring with me on a worldwide surf vacation. It includes three eyeshadows — Tiare (a sheer champagne), Plumeria (a sheer shell-pink) and Rum (rich coffee) — a blush (Island Reverie, a coral shade) and a bronzer (called Treasure Cove).

6. Best of Becca Palette ($65) – Why do we always want what we can’t have? This palette must be the shizz because it’s always out of stock! In it Becca stuffed two eyeshadows (a golden bronze and a rich bronze shimmer), a cream blush called Turkish rose, a caramel lip/cheek cream and a peachy pearl lipgloss.

7. MAC PowerPoint Eye Pencil in Tealo and Forever Green ($13.50) – Wee! I love green eye pencils. I can’t get enough of green eye pencils, and I want to try these because they’re supposedly waterproof, too. I hope they’re nice and blendable like the Technakohls. Both of the greens that I want are out of stock on the MAC Web site (boo), but the Nordstrom site has ’em in stock (yay).

8. Yves Saint Laurent Pop Stick Blushes ($42) – Why do I imagine eating my makeup? Don’t the names of these three cream blushes sound delicious? — Vanilla/Chocolate, Strawberry/Raspberry and Peach/Blackcurrant.

9. Shiseido Sun Protection Compact Foundation SPF 34($32, $24.50 for refills) – Sunscreen, sunscreen, sunscreen! I love products with SPF and hope that one of these six powder foundation shades (apply dry or with a wet sponge) suits my skin tone.

Tell me, girlfriend, whatchu got for me? Let me know what’s on your makeup lust list in the comments.

Karen

I have the Hanae Mori perfume, and I absolutely love it! I would say that is smells a lot more like the vanilla and sandalwood notes most of the time than it does the more flowery soft tones. It’s very sexy and one I typically only use for dates since it’s such a rich smell. Let me know what you think though, I’m sure you’re going to love it too!

Those Yves Saint Laurent Pop Stick Blushes look delicious.
On my lust list: new mascara! I need a new mascara pronto but I’m undecided yet as to which one I’ll buy. And a bronzer to add a bit of glow.

Currently I have nothing on my lust list for makeup. I am in a makeup-overdose state lately, need to take a break from buying! I smelled Hanae Mori before and as Holley said, it is very sweet but the sweetness is nice, not too saccharine like other new fragrances, definitely a good daytime perfume. If you like it, you may also like Yves Rocher Voile D’Ambre. It’s a French company and you can order online. I ordered so many things from them that I reached saturation point about a year ago. It’s really really sad when you get to that state.

Oooh, I have the Fresh palette! I haven’t played with it yet (story of my life), but I love Fresh’s stuff in general. And I’m also looking forward to getting my hands on the NARS collection — Galapagos looks exactly like what I’ve been wanting lately! I’m not sure on the Neo Sci-Fi — I’m looking forward to Cool Heat.

I’m also looking forward to the new body bronzer collection that MAC’s releasing next week — today is the first day I’m wearing a skirt without tights this spring, and my legs are paaaaale!

oh Karen! I so didn’t need to see that fresh palette-its looks absolutely gorgeous! I wonder how it applies (I’ve only used fresh’s supernova mascara and some lipglosses, but they are great). and I’ve used “body” fresh stuff. and those YSL remind me of some old 80’s lip stuff I had…..drugstore brand, maybelline maybe? something “swirls”. ah good times.

    Ok, my wish list
    1. fresh sugar baby lipgloss
    2. shu lipstick-a peach one, I think 900
    3. shu metallic olive eyeshadow
    4. shu matte fig green eyeshadow
    5. korres mascara in blue-black
    6. becca tuberose lip and cheek cream
    7. becca daiquiri lip gloss
    8. bobbi brown cream eyeshadow in malted
    9. ummm-I guess bobbi brown cream eyeshadow in navajo or one of the new clnique long wear lipglosses. 🙂

    FUN!!!!

got too excited, hit submit too soon! LOL.

I love the looks of nars misbehave…I think “sheer red” is the new descritpion that calls out to me.

Sherwin is doing good-not entirely sure what happened, but he cut the fleshy part of his paw 2 weekends ago. Ouch! I’ve gone out and looked in the yard and can’t find anything sharp….so hopefully whatever did it on is gone. 🙁 He had to go to the vet emergency room and get stiches, but it hardly phased him. He’s very tough!

The Misbehavin gloss is awesome too…but I had to stay within budget. Thank god everything is going to be permanent!

I’m looking forward to seeing the Neo-SciFi collection, even though it’s overall waaaay to warm for this girl! I’m interested in the darkest of the eyeshadows, though, that dark brown could be a super liner/crease shade if the finish is right!

BTW, I just bought the Laura Mercier metallic creme eyeshadow in gold and it is gorgeous! It’s a kind of neutralized gold, a bit brown or bronzed or something that makes it very wearable for me, but gives a fantastic, subtle flash! It would look amazing on you too! 🙂

I also have the tealo and, although it migrates more than I was hoping the powerpoints would, it is the perfect teal liner shade and I love it!

I’ve just been so over-indulged for my birthday (many thanks to my fantastic friends and family!) that my wishlist is very small! I’m still after the Chanel lippie in Shanghai Red and the galaxy glossimers!

I am so trying hard to be good with the makeup because I really have to rectify the pants situation ASAP (or at the minimum, get a new belt, CRAP) but all the cream shadows have this siren call that I can’t deny!

Have you tried the Technakohl’s? Those are still my fave MAC liners and are right up there with Fluidline!

    My lust list consists of

    1. Clinique Long Last Glosswear SPF 15
(sounds like the perfect lip product for summer)

    2. Clinique Up-lighting Liquid Illuminator
(reminds me of Revlon’s dc’d skinlights that I sadly missed out on)

    3. Benefit 10
(who doesn’t want sculpted cheekbones? okay, I’m in for the cute box)

    4. Benefit Hoola
(bronzer, contour, and a cute box to boot)

    5. Benefit Her Glossiness
(that lychee scent is just pulling me in)

    6. Philosophy Breakfast in Bed
    (the scents are just divine!)

Okay, so the last one isn’t exactly makeup, but it’s sold at a makeup store, so that has to count for something, right?

Ooh Karen… you know I love your lists!

My lust list…and you know I’ve got one due to the self-imposed makeup lockdown!

1 – Estee Lauder Private Collection Tuberose Gardenia. When I first heard the name and saw it I expressed no interest because I thought…hmmm probably old lady (I know I know… I’m still getting over my estee lauder prejudices). Then I smelled it at bloomies…and I believe I may have fallen in love. I’ve visited once since. I would describe it at simply elegant. Very pretty. Very Ladies who lunch, but without the pretensiousness. Seriously though, the parfum is $300, and the eau de parfum is $120…although the EL website has a smaller bottle for $65…so I may have to bite the bullet soon.
2 – Bumble and Bumble Spray de mode – I’m almost out of hairspray and I want to give this one a try.
3 – Clinique lash power mascara…because I need to get vacation (Beach) ready makeup.
4 – Clinique quick eyes cream shadow – Sunlit Palm, Lucky Penny and Cocoa Shimmer are catching my eye.
5 – Clinique long last glosswear – Knockout nude and Bonfire are my top picks on this one.
6 – Not makeup, but beauty, I would like a no!no! because I hate shaving, even if I’m not uber-hairy…and any reduction would be apprectiated.
7 – Too faced shadow insurance
8 – The Chanel Lumière Naturelle palette
9 – Clarins Gelee Auto-Bronzante Express Self Tanning Instant Gel – Because I need to get rid of this pasty white girl look 🙂

How fun! I vaguely remember reading that Prince is going to be there! I am still kicking myself for not going the year Madonna performed.

For sweatproof, for sure bring some mascara. I am liking Shu Uemura Precise Volume waterproof. Dior concealer is fab too – I wear this when I to go dance class (where I sweat buckets) and I swear it doesn’t budge. I usually don’t like to wear foundation when I know I’m gonna be sweaty, but I’ve noticed Becca stick foundation has *amazing* staying power.

Hope this helps…lemme know if I can help with anything else! 🙂 Happy Friday!

    Hi Karen!

Yah, the LM in the little tube! Super-pretty!

I’m looking forward to Neo Sci-Fi, but Cool Heat is the collection I really want to see! I was over checking out the Dazzleglasses today (a little too sparkly, I’ll stick with my Chanel 😉 ) and was lucky enough to catch a glimpse of Naughty Nauticals! Not the most exciting collection IMO, but the Meet the Fleet shadow is gorgeous! I was initially disappointed because it’s a matte finish (my least favorite of all shadow finishes), but after seeing it I may cave anyway! It’s an inky indigo that would be the most amazing liner shade! Definitely worth checking out!

Technakohl is the next liner on my list to check out… if I can wean myself away from those Shu drawing pencils!

Forgive me if I chime in, but my two cents are that the Chanel mascara (as much as I love all things Chanel) isn’t worth the extra bucks. The exception is if you’re craving some of the more hard-to-find colors (Hello, Emeraude!), but for a plain ol’ black mascara there are a lot that I like better! My go-to is Max Factor’s Lash Perfection and for extra oomph I like Tarte’s Lights, Camera, Lashes! They do have the little mascara wands at the Chanel counter (at least at Nordstrom and Neiman Marcus they do), though, so if you can stand to go bare-lashed you can try it for yourself before you take the plunge! Good luck! 🙂

About Makeup and Beauty Blog

Welcome to Makeup and Beauty Blog
Hi there! I’m Karen, your friendly neighborhood beauty addict, and I’m a Bay Area girl who hoards brown eyeshadow and covets coral lipstick. Every morning, I wake up and say, “I’m going to do something other than a smoky eye today.” Then…I end up doing a smoky eye anyway (most days). When I’m not putting on makeup, taking pictures of makeup or writing about makeup, which I’ve been doing daily since 2007 (!), you’ll find me hanging out with my hubby (“El Hub”), my four-year-old daughter (Connor Claire) and my torbie girl cat (Pretty Girl Rosie, a.k.a. PGR).
