4 Ways to Wear the Lancome Pink Irreverence Spring 2009 Collection

January 27th, 2009 by Karen 29 Comments

All it takes to change your look is a swipe of lipstick or gloss.

– Ancient makeup proverb

Lancome’s Pink Irreverence Spring 2009 Collection has a lot to offer.

I took some products from the collection and mixed ‘n matched the lip colors like witch’s brew. The cheeks and eyes don’t change in these four looks, but the lip products made it easy to change each look in a snap.

The products…

  • Color Pro Design Cooling Gel Illuminator for Eyes and Face in High Expectations ($20)
  • Le Crayon Khol Waterproof in Confidence Noir ($23.50)
  • Blush Subtil in High Maintenance ($29.50)
  • Color Design Lipstick in Forget Me Not ($25)
  • La Laque Fever Lipshine in Optical Rose ($26)
  • Color Fever Lipgloss in Piha Black ($25)

Look One: Creamy pink lips

  1. Color Design Lipstick in Forget Me Not all over the lips

Look Two: Shimmery pink lips

  1. Color Design Lipstick all over the lips
  2. La Laque Fever Lipshine in Optical Rose all over the lips

Look Three: A shimmery pink with touches of black

  1. Color Design Lipstick all over the lips
  2. Forget Me Not La Laque Fever Lipshine in Optical Rose all over the lips
  3. Color Fever Lipgloss in Piha Black in the outer corners of the lips

Look Four: Deep, shimmery pink lips

  1. Color Design Lipstick all over the lips
  2. Forget Me Not La Laque Fever Lipshine in Optical Rose all over the lips
  3. Color Fever Lipgloss in Piha Black all over the lips

Swatches from left to right: Confidence Noir eyeliner, High Maintenance blush, Forget Me Not lipstick, Optical Rose lipcolor, Piha Black gloss

Karen

I am really surprised at how wearable the black gloss is!!! It looks nothing like I expected, especially when you layer it over a great pink. Wow!!

Hmmm…while the black gloss is way more wearable than I thought it would be, I just can’t get into it.

    Hi Kelley,

Me too! When I first opened the tube I tried it on my bare lips… I looked scary! 🙂 But when mixed with other colors it’s pretty darn wearable.

I dunno if you’re into the ultra-vampy look, but this gloss would add lots of depth to red and magenta lip colors, too. 🙂

Wow. It’s so interesting to see how the lip gloss actually works. It really isnt as scary as I thought it would be, just brings a burgundy glossiness to the lips. Very cool. I may have to buy this just to freak out my friends when I redo my lips in the bathroom haha.

I’m not gonna lie: the idea of Piha Black gloss kind of scares me.

But then you go and make it look good!

My secret little inner-goth compels me to buy this dark beauty.

I love look three–the lips really pop and look great on your complexion. Now I’m definitely going to have to try out the Piha black lip gloss–thanks for the looks 🙂

My weekend was great! The hubby and I went to Boston which we love–lots of drinks, lots of food and lots of shopping (no tax)!!!! Hope yours went well!

I can’t decide whether I like #2 or #3 the best. I think #2 for work and #3 for evening, maybe. Very pretty!

    Hey Karen!

I tried Piha this weekend at my local Nordstrom counter. I didn’t like it as much as I thought I would. That turned out to be a good thing, because, check this – they only got 3 tubes of it. That’s it. Apparently not alot of these were made since they are LE.

I tried Piha over a neutral taupe-ish color and it actually looked great. It transferred me from a neutral daytime lip to a total nighttime lip for smoky eyes. But, it didn’t convince me enough to find it somewhere else and purchase it.

    Hi P. Potter,

Listen to her, for your inner goth would never lead you the wrong way (right?). 😉

I was goth for like 2 seconds in 1994. It mainly involved me wearing black eye liner on my lips beneath a dark red matte lipstick. Ahhh, good times.

    Hi Tanya,

Sounds like you guys had fun. I’ve never been to Boston but would love to go some day!

And the fact that there’s no tax makes it that much more appealing.

    Hi Michelle,

You’re very welcome! Another thing you could do is take the tip of the lip gloss applicator and trace the black along the lip line… it’s kind of a 90s look but it’s fun.

    Hi Shefali,

WOW! I am surprised that the counter only got three tubes.

The taupe sounds like it would be very pretty… I will try that next.

Hi there! I’m Karen, your friendly neighborhood beauty addict, and I’m a Bay Area girl who hoards brown eyeshadow and covets coral lipstick. Every morning, I wake up and say, “I’m going to do something other than a smoky eye today.” Then…I end up doing a smoky eye anyway (most days). When I’m not putting on makeup, taking pictures of makeup or writing about makeup, which I’ve been doing daily since 2007 (!), you’ll find me hanging out with my hubby (“El Hub”), my four-year-old daughter (Connor Claire) and my torbie girl cat (Pretty Girl Rosie, a.k.a.
