3 Red Hot Summertime Lips from Urban Decay, Lancome and Illamasqua

Sup, ladies? How was your Wednesday? Mine went well until a killer migraine struck me down. The ones I get are tied to sound, and loud noises make my head throb like a disco. Thankfully, it’s just been me and Tabs all afternoon, and apart from his occasional meows to go outside, it’s been quiet here at Casa de MBB.

Loud noises hurt, but makeup doesn’t, so I tried to relax with a few of the red hot lip colors I’ve had crushes on as of late…

  • Urban Decay Pocket Rocket Lipgloss in Colin ($19): a creamy orangy red
  • Lancome L’Absolu Creme de Brilliance in Rose Mythique ($29): a shimmery rose red
  • Illamasqua Intense Lipgloss in Temper ($19): a creamy, bright reddish orange

Red often gets pigeonholed as a holiday color, but it can look great any time of year. In summer, I like reds with orange, coral or rose tones and a shiny, high-gloss finish.

Bright lips can be tricky, but they’re well worth the work (try some of these tips). Pair that pucker with a neutral eyeshadow (here I’m wearing colors from the Clarins Instant Sun Light Palette), and you’re good to go!

So what did you end up doing tonight? I just chilled on the couch with the telly on very low volume. 🙂

I watched the latest Glee on Hulu and didn’t hate it. Now I’m watching an episode of Drop Dead Diva, one of my new favorite shows.

Almost time for bed…

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

Aww, I LOVE Drop Dead Diva! I missed most of it the first time around and am now catching up on Hulu. I’m only halfway through the episode where the Judge sues the matchmaking company. I love the guy thats flirting with Jane though – I love seeing his reactions in the background while she just does her normal thing! And he’s super cute…

(I have yet to watch Glee – I’m getting a bit frustrated with it, and have been relatively busy!)

I just started watching Drop Dead Diva until recently (on hulu!) and was pleasantly surprised. It’s a fun show, and I think the characters are great!

As for Glee, I know what you mean. I’ve been not loving this new season, but this week’s ep captures a little bit of the edge that the show used to have. Watch it!

Those look great on you. I actually look like the Joker when I try red lips but the Rose Mythique looks like a maybe! I had a really funny make-up dream last night and woke up thinking that maybe I’m spending too much time on MBB. But then I realized that wasn’t really possible. 🙂

Oh, you could totally pull off red lips!! Have you tried using a light stain? Maybe that would help make it seem less dramatic, but still give you a touch o’ red.

I totally have makeup dreams too, btw. I had a MAC one a last week!

Key Karen! My week is ok – just the usual. How about you? Ready for Friday tomorrow?!

Nope – instead I am still adding and removing things! LOL, mostly adding. Have you seen/tried the new NARS multiple tints? I am drooling over them…

Yes, thank goodness the weekend is a hop, skip and a jump away. I love these short weeks.

As for the haul, I’m still shuffling, too. The only thing that seems to stay in there is that new concealer from The Balm, LOL!

As for the NARS Multiple Tints, I’ve seen pics but haven’t had the chance to play with them in person. For some reason they remind me of the tarte cheek stains…

They are all lovely but Temper is calling my name. 🙂 I feel the need for some retail therapy this week – im at a low ebb for some reason. 🙂

Last night I watched Top Chef Masters (not as dramatic as regular Top Chef but its awesome to watch these five star chefs slug it out) … while waiting for that show to start, I was channel surfing and came across a show called Toddlers & Tiaras about the kiddie pageant scene. I was disturbed by that show, to say the least. Kids who look like bombshells and act like bombshells scare me.

My BFF loooves Top Chef. She’s taking me to a restaurant for my BDAY on Saturday in Napa that’s run by one of the Top Chef contestants (or winners? I’m not sure). Anyway, here it is:

I’ve heard of that show and have been purposefully trying to avoid it. Chances are if I watched it I’d get totally agro…

I checked that restaurant’s website out and it looks interesting! 🙂

Ive been hooked on TC since season1 🙂

That show kinda made me mad too … these babies seem to be living out their mom’s fantasies of being beauty queens. Grr. Apparently theres an even worse show called Little Miss Perfect. What is the world coming to!!!

    Hey!!!
You do look good with vivid lip colors. I own Mr. Colin myself. But one thing that I just have to say about those pockets rocket-I get the feeling that those men on the caps aren’t posing for me but for other men. Especially the one on Colin. Am I seeing things right? Is he pulling his shorts off or what exactly is he doing back there on the cap of the lip gloss. One day I’ll illegally be applying my lip gloss while I am driving my car and i’ll look at the cap and realize what’s going on down there and crash my car. That Urban Decay better be careful. hahahah

God, I love the Illamasqua one. I’m just not sure if me and my pale complexion can pull it off, but it looks great on you! But all the three colours scream summer, so who know, I just might be tempted to get one even with my ‘concerns’.

Hi there! I’m Karen, your friendly neighborhood beauty addict, and I’m a Bay Area girl who hoards brown eyeshadow and covets coral lipstick. Every morning, I wake up and say, “I’m going to do something other than a smoky eye today.” Then…I end up doing a smoky eye anyway (most days). When I’m not putting on makeup, taking pictures of makeup or writing about makeup, which I’ve been doing daily since 2007 (!), you’ll find me hanging out with my hubby (“El Hub”), my four-year-old daughter (Connor Claire) and my torbie girl cat (Pretty Girl Rosie, a.k.a.
