10-Minute Makeup Must-Haves: Clinique Chubby Stick in Amp’d Up Apple

March 21st, 2019 by Karen 17 Comments

TBH, this was more like 5-minute makeup! Concealer on cheeks and under the eyes: Maybelline Instant Age Rewind in Golden; eyeshadow: Clinique Chubby Stick Shadow Tint in Ample Amber; mascara: MAC Extended Play Perm Me Up Lash; liner: MAC Coffee Eye Pencil; lipgloss: NARS No Regrets; AND BARE BROWS, AHHH!

The 10-Minute Makeup Must-Haves series shows off some of *the best* makeup for speedy (but sensational!) skin, eyes, cheeks and lips.

This is gonna sound so cheesy, but this is my feel-good blush. 😊 I just feel really good when I wear it. It’s Clinique Chubby Stick Cheek Colour Balm in Amp’d Up Apple, and it’s $24. When I put a bit of this beautiful matte pinkish brown on my cheeks, I look like I just finished a round of crossover jumping jacks (which are surprisingly difficult)!

Wearing this blush is like working out…without having to actually work out. Cheeks look lovely and healthy with Amp’d Up Apple’s wash of pink color, so you look like you *did* show up, and you’re ready to bring it. When you want a little more than basic contrast, it’s a great way to go. Methinks there’s something very chic French girl about it.

I’m an NC42, but Amp’d Up Apple should work well on most skin tones.

I just feel beautiful in this blush, which is always a nice plus. 😊

The Chubby Stick Cheek Balms feel slightly wet, so they don’t fight you when you’re trying to blend them on your cheeks. Because they’re slick, these stick blushes skim across bare cheeks, atop foundation, or even concealer (like in the top pic), where I’m also wearing concealer on my cheeks and under my eyes (the Maybelline one, which I’m still desperately in love with), but without any powder. All you gotta do is feather the edges with a finger, and man, that’s it. There is absolutely nothing difficult about using Amp’d Up Apple.

I’ve been falling harder for easy makeup every day, and this is one of the most beautiful easy products around.

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

I don’t know why, but it reminds me of candies 🤣 maybe it’s the colour or it’s because I started a weight loss diet on Monday, so anything reminds me of food hahaha!

By the way, I like its shade, it’s so lovely! I usually use powder blush, I’ve never preferred those in cream, but I’d like to try it because from your words it seems easy to blend!

I have that one, but while I love the color, it disappears so quickly on me. I barely get three hours weartime, and that is sadly not enough for most days.

I have this in I think it’s called Plump Peony? It’s great! A nice plummy color that’s good for winter, and super easy to use and blend.

So pretty on you! You usually have good luck with stick and cream blushes (and I usually don’t) but I certainly appreciate the quick application and anything that makes you feel good about yourself!!

Delightful! I still have half a pan, thankfully. Can you imagine how I’d freak if they discontinued it? I don’t even like to joke about it. HAHA!

Wow!! What a coincidence…I just got this blush. A department store was having Clinique Bonus Time and this blush was in the gift bag. Anyway, I’ve been looking at it, but haven’t tried it yet. I’m not used to cream formulations, so I’m a little nervous. I was also thinking that the Amp’d Up Apple was a really pretty color. Well, now that I see that you like it Karen, I’m going to have to give it a whirl. I’ll definitely put it on Saturday morning, when I do my makeup. Also, I was thinking that that shade would make a nice lip color as well. By the way, it does give you a nice natural flush!!

      Hi Sherry!

Oh, that’s a nice color to get in the gift bag! What other goodies came with it?

The thing with creams is it really helps to think about what you’re layering underneath them. Generally cream blushes do best on a creamy base, so if you’re wearing foundation (or tinted moisturizer or concealer), then do the blush directly on top of your foundation. If you want to wear powder on your foundation, then brush the powder around the blush, and then set the blush with a powder blush. Sounds more complicated than it actually is. I hope this made some sense. I got about 2 seconds of sleep last night and it’s that time in the afternoon when things start to go a little loopy!

Hi Karen!! I just read your reply about the cream blush. Thank you for the cream blush advice. I don’t wear foundation, but I use a little concealer under my eyes and then I use pressed powder. I’ll make sure to put the blush on, then use a little powder on my nose, forehead, etc. and be done. It was a really nice free gift this time. Besides the Chubby Stick Blush, there was No Rinse Eye Makeup Remover, Moisture Surge Concentrate, High Impact Mascara, Pop Splash Lip Gloss, and a deluxe size Rinse Off Cleanser. You could choose a deluxe size of either that or Seven Day Scrub Cream. I already had some Seven Day Scrub Cream, so I went for the cleanser. Clinique is so generous with their gifts. Oh dear…I sound like I’m advertising for Clinique. LOL!!

You’re so welcome! If you have any other questions about cream blush application let me know, I have a few tricks. 🙂 It’s really one of my favorite formulations now that I’m in my 40s. Clinique does some really great GWPs and they get me every single time, too (soooo many tubes of Tenderheart lipstick). I know a lot of people think of them just as a skin care brand but they’ve got some beautiful makeup for when you want to wear a little something but don’t necessarily want to go over the top, ya know? And I also love that their makeup works for so many different age groups. I could easily recommend this blush onto my 70-year old mom. And when Connor is a teenager I’d be happy to lend her mine! Speaking of kids, how is your daughter? I hope you and your family are doing great.

Also, forgot one other thing. I hope Connor Claire gets over her croup soon, and you get some sleep. Take Care!!

Clinique is definitely underrated in my opinion!! I love that they’re doing some great newer things in the past few years!! I don’t think I’ve ever had that color, but it looks so lovely on you I may have to check it out!! 😍😍😍

This is one of my all-time favorite cream blushes! I’ve had two of them already! You’re right, the color and texture are perfect.

Just wanted to comment on the beautiful lashes- I can tell it’s not the mascara too!!! Mascara is nice on them and they almost look like wispy falsies- can’t wait to hear your review of what you’re using! FYI my mom just bought me some grande lash serum and it’s been a week only and the lashes are stronger already- can’t wait to see the growth though
