YOU GUYS. Not a week goes by without someone saying that they think I look like comedienne Ali Wong. I guess it’s the glasses? I dunno, I don’t really see it…
It happened again yesterday at lunch, and by “lunch” I’m referring to the cookies I had at the bakery after story time. (We also had a chicken salad sandwich on whole wheat bread, so there was some actual nutrition involved.)
The nice lady behind the counter who always helps us said, “You look EXACTLY like Ali Wong.”
“Really?” I asked.
“It’s the smile,” she said, “it’s the glasses, it’s everything. I could’ve sworn you were her. I was wondering what she was doing in Novato.”
The next time this happens, I’ve decided that I’m just gonna pretend I’m Ali Wong, maybe even sign an autograph, haha! But if I’m wearing Charlotte Tilbury Lipstick in Sunset Lover at the time, I’ll be screwed, though, because Ali-Karen will probably be inundated with questions about what she’s wearing on her lips, because that’s what goes down whenever I wear this matte peachy pink.
(It’s a new color, by the way, and just launched.)
Don’t even think about wearing this when you’re feeling anti-social, because every person you run into will ask about it.
OK, now, can we talk about cookies for a sec?
What are your thoughts on oatmeal cookies? Love them? Loathe them? It seems like oatmeal cookies are the candy corn of the cookie world, and most people are in one or the other camp.
I like them because despite there being other, healthier ways to eat oatmeal, I feel like I’m still getting some health benefits from eating them. 🙂 Yeah right, Karen… Don’t stop believing. Hold on to that feeling!
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

I love Oatmeal cookies! Also, I don’t see the Ali Wong resemblance either.
Karen says
OK, so it’s not just me! LOL I think it’s the glasses?!
Anyway, I’m always kind of shocked when people say they don’t like oatmeal cookies. I used to love the ones my mom would get from the store with the icing. Do you remember those? It’s been years since I’ve had an iced oatmeal cookie but damn I could use one right now!
Barb says
YES!! I know exactly what you’re talking about! I’ve always loved them too, ever since I can remember. Have a great weekend!!
Kim says
I’m particular about my oatmeal cookies. My fave are from Sam’s Club – in those big round trays of assorted cookies – and they’re oatmeal raisin (not sure if all oatmeal has raisins?). They are soft and delicious and, I suspect, not very healthy. HAHA!
Yeah, I’m not sure about Ali Wong. I had to look her up because I just get progressively worse about pop culture. 🙁 Maybe a tiny bit in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oItPQRZ3xpI
I think if you lined up some people with similar hair and similar glasses, some might think they looked alike. I don’t think anyone looking at a close up of your faces (without glasses on, or hair showing) and teeth would say you looked alike. But maybe they would. Did I tell you about how I could not convince one of the boys (many years ago) that Adam Sandler played both Jack AND Jill in the movie? He might be like Lois Lane. HAHA!
Syahidah says
You actually do kind of look like Ali Wong! You could do one of those side by side comparison photos and see…;)
I like oatmeal cookies as long as they have chocolate chips in them. Hah!
Gina Bullard says
I do NOT see any resemblance !! YUCK. But that lipstick!!! It’s to die for! I am not much of a fan of CT’s things, I think she’s incredibly over priced and mostly hype…. but that is a beautiful coral. It looks much “flatter” if that is a word… on. I’ll bet there’s a dupe.
I love cookies! All kinds, oatmeal, chocolate chip, snickerdoodle – just about all of them. When I feel good and I’m not in too much pain, I like to bake them from scratch – I make a pretty mean chocolate chip. I like to bake them and surprise friends while they’re still warm. It’s a fabulous way to get to see big eyes and genuine smiles. I have a friend who sometimes brings these really great oatmeal cookies down from this little shop in St. Louis (that’s famous for their Oatmeal cookies) they make about every kind you could imagine. I really like the banana. Ah! I wish I had some now!!
Well, I turn 56 today – and I feel ancient! I never imagined being this age. As I’m sure you’re aware with Connor growing — it all just goes too fast.
Take care,
Gina and Gracie

Where can I get that “Long Live Lipstick” Hawaiian T?
Too Cute!!!
Karen says
Aww, I’m so happy that you like it! It’s from my store, connorclaire.com. I’ll have it for sale in the next few weeks. Want me to email you when it goes live? I’ll be happy to!
Chantal M Anderson says
I agree with Lauren! That t-shirt is fantastic! If I’m subscribed to connorclaire.com will I receive an email about it’s release? Thank you!
Beth says
Would love to know when the tee is available!
Thank you!!
Karen says
For sure, Beth! I’ll add you to the list. 🙂
Lauren says
Yes please, let me know when I can purchase that fabu Tee!
Vintage pin-up and Lipstick, what more can you ask for?
Karen says
Yay! I’m really happy that you like it. It will also be coming in gray as well as a white tank top. 🙂
Ilene says
You are certainly funny like her! I love reading your posts!
Maricar says
Hi Karen, I didn’t know who Ali Wong was so I had to Google her. I might be in the minority here, but I kinda’ do see the resemblance. I think it’s the hair, glasses, and face shape. But you’re both very pretty so this is a compliment all around. I’m still waiting for someone to mistake me for Gisele Bundchen, but that hasn’t happened yet . . .
I happen to love oatmeal cookies. I think it stems from my childhood when my mom, who infrequently bought me sweets, bought Archway home style oatmeal cookies or Little Debbie oatmeal cookies with the apple jam in the center. I’m always tempted to buy those, but I think I’d rather just bake my own!
Love that new lipstick! I think I’d have to break from my usual berry colors and try that out!
Tatiana says
I have no idea who Ali Wong is, so I can’t say for certain whether or not you look like her.
Cookies!! Where is this lovely bakery??? Because next time I’m at the horse park on Lakeville Rd. I definitely want to get cookies!!!
Dear Husband loves oatmeal raisin cookies. Never really loved or hated them myself until one day I dropped Dear Daughter at the tutor’s house, as she was pulling a warm batch of oatmeal, walnut, cranberry cookies out of the oven. The tangy, sweetness of the cranberries really made those cookies sing!!
Diana says
You’re both beautiful women, but no, I don’t think you look alike. Glasses and dark hair that’s about it. I almost want to get on a plane (hate flying) just to meet you& that adorable cookie monster for cookies at your bakery!! I will eat oatmeal raisin fresh out of the oven, otherwise not my first pick. I have two Charlotte lipsticks, Bitch Perfect (too light) &Pillow Talk (too dark on me), maybe this one is just Right! Love it on you.
shinae says
I’m allergic to oats, so it doesn’t matter, but I hate oatmeal cookies, and that lipstick looks sooooo pretty on you.
Linda Libra Loca says
I eat any type of cookies, so oat meal cookies are fine with me.
Shannon says
Mmmmmmmm love that lippy color!! I’ll have to add it to the ever-expanding list, lol…
And I LOVE me some oatmeal cookies! I used to get annoyed at them when I was younger, because the raisins would masquerade as chocolate chips… and there’s nothing more disappointing than biting into what you think is an oatmeal chocolate chip cookie and discovering it’s an oatmeal raisin cookie! But now I love oatmeal in cookies of all kinds, types, shapes, and sizes. I’m an equal-opportunity-oatmeal cookie lover, haha 🙂
Karen says
Have you ever had those Mother’s Oatmeal Cookies with the icing? I used to love those back in the day!
Shannon says
Aw man, I remember Mothers! I don’t specifically recall how those ones tasted, though, so maybe I should do some research… lol.
Karen says
You should. Research is the best! I’ve yet to perfect an oatmeal cookie recipe but if I ever get there I’ll be sure to hook you up!
Chelsea says
I love oatmeal cookies for the texture! Especially good with some choccy chips in there!
Gorgeous lippie!
Sarah Lowes says
I see the resemblance but you don’t have a double chin and your face is more slender.
Oats carry bad cholesterol out of the body – what’s not to love?!!
Lisa says
Hi Karen! Any recs for a less matte dupe of this color? Thanks!!
Iris says
What a lovely colour! I was on the fence for it but might get it. It looks so good!
