You know when you get something new that you really like but you want to save it for a special occasion, but then Mother’s Day comes and goes, your birthday comes and goes, and you realize that if you keep waiting for a big moment to bust it out, you’ll just end up waiting forever, so one day you just go for it and use it on a random Wednesday?
Well, I’ve been saving this gorgeous neutral eyeshadow palette from Chanel — which is certifiable Karen makeup crack! — for a special occasion because it’s just SO DANG PRETTY. Simply staring at it ignites my lusty makeup passion…
You know the struggle, I’m sure.
So, I finally wore it yesterday, and what was the special occasion, you might ask?
Answer: Wednesday. It was a Wednesday. That is all.
And it was also Connor’s first ballet class of the summer…but the main reason was just that it was Wednesday. 🙂
For once, I was not rolling up to the dance studio in a topknot, black yoga pants and nothing other than mascara, with my usual layer of coffee fuzz on my teeth. Instead, it felt good to really wear some makeup — eyeshadow, liner, blush, lipstick, foundation, and the whole kit and caboodle — like I used to when I’d rock a full face to Target to buy a bag of emergency M&Ms.
Oh, and I rediscovered a Chanel cheek/lip coral combo I used to wear all the time with Malice blush and Creatif liquid lipstick. The corals go well with the warm golden browns from the eye palette (as does the Chanel Mat Taupe liner I wore today).
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

Connor is sooo pretty – a big smile is the best make up ❤️
By the way: I find this colour scheme suits you well….
I know exactly your feelings – most of the time I’m too rushed or lazy to put on much more then Concealer, Mascara and perhaps eyeliner or cream eyeshadow. / hehe or some days even nothing – my coworkers have to live with my undereye dark circles…
On some days I really feel like eyeshadows (yeeeess… two of them :-p) and my Secret weapon is lipstick. Even if I wear just Concealer and Mascara when I put on lipstick I feel I look done up, professional or even sexy…
Best wishes, Carina

I bought this gorgeous selection of neutrals a while back and have been reaching for it several times a week ever since. Most of the time I use it on its own, but sometimes I use it in conjunction with something else. Some people will think it’s just another ho-hum set of taupes, beiges, and browns, but this palette goes far beyond that. The overall quality is a step above and the colors have a depth and complexity to them that is so often lacking in less costly palettes. The formula is creamy smooth, the colors blend like a dream, and they create a finish that is even and luminous. The colors can be used to create everything from subtle no makeup makeup looks to dramatic sculpted looks that play with shadow and light. And, bonus points for this being an excellent travel palette. Since purchasing it, it has logged thousands of miles with me ?
I’ve been very pleased and impressed with these nine pan palettes that Lucia Pica has created for Chanel. She has a true artist’s eye for color and knows how they can combine to create a variety of looks. Brava, Lucia! Brava!
I know that neutrals are not everyone’s cup of tea, but it must be remembered that Chanel’s Les Beiges collection is for the woman who wants that healthy-glow, lit-from-within look, without it looking boring. I do like color, but I like my color muted or as an accent rather than the main attraction and so this newest addition to the Les Beiges collection is right up my alley.

Awww Coywolf looks like you! I used to be a saver of all things, but now I tell myself to use the stuff because what if tomorrow you’re not here to use it?! Grim but true!

The shades from this palette look great on you and I have heard only great things about this nine pan palette. I am so tempted to get it because I love neutrals however, I am passing it up because I want to replace the Clair Obscur quad when I get around to it.
Connor has gotten so big, she is kind of a mini you. I love it. Tomorrow is graduation! I am already tearing up.
Be well.

This looks so good on you! I managed to snag the last one at my counter (so they say) and I was not impressed. I found that as soon as I applied them they were faded, there was no point trying to blend colours. It would just end up muddy looking. But there is just something in Chanel eye products that irritate my eyes and this palette was no exception. I had red, itchy eyes for the whole weekend. Returned!
Fieran says
Just curious, have you tried the quad formula? Those are quite nice, they are even better than the older quad formulas. Could they be less irritating?
I completely get what you mean by the muddy look. I used to get that with NARS duos back in the day. But the NARS Eyeshadow primer and a bit less product seemed to help.
Savannah says
I tried a limited edition quad in summer of 2016. It irritated my eyes just a bit less than this one did. I found the quad to be much better quality-wise. I always wear eyeshadow on top of a primer. I generally use Mac eyeshadows and aside from a few duds in their line-up they are hands down my fave eyeshadow formula. I’m bummed because I wanted to love this! I love neutrals. I’ll just stick with buying blushes from Chanel from now on.
Eileen says
Oh, Savannah, I’m so sorry you had such a terrible reaction. I have that same issue with Urban Decay. Fortunately, there are so many other beautiful products on the market that no one has to put up with red, itchy eyes. I hope your eyes are better now.

You look great Karen. That makeup with that pink top is such a pleasant combo. Wednesday is worth busting out a new Chanel palette for sure. Hugs to little Connor! She’s adorable.

This is one of my favorite palettes at the moment.
Aww! Coywolf has Bloch ballet slippers! Good choice! Hope she is enjoying dancing.

You and Connor both look so pretty! She’s a chip of the ol’ mama block.
I caved and got this palette, partly because I liked Quintessence so much, and partly because it looked like everything I’d wanted Urban Decay Naked (original) to be, but wasn’t. (Naked is too dark and cool, and goes muddy on me.) I’m really glad I did, because it’s incredible! I think this may end up being one of my all-time favorite neutral palettes.

Every pic you post of Connor makes me smile, especially since she seems to be wearing a tutu in almost all of them. I think she and my youngest would make quite a pair.
This is a great look for you. The makeup is fantastic and the new haircut is perfect with the grays.

Total smoke show little mama! And ditto for your mini-me!

Your hair looks so good here! Convinced me to chop a few inches off!
Such a beautiful palette and you and Connor look beautiful as well!

I honestly looked at the picture of that palette and asked why you hate me. HAHA! It’s so gorgeous. And I’m so not buying it because, even for a special occasion, I wouldn’t wear it. But only because I have bad lids for shadow. But I still REALLY want it. You literally look like a million bucks in those pics. And Connor’s little shoes are so precious! She’s adorable, as always!
