Chanel Rouge Coco Lipstick in Dimitri, My Latest Red Lipstick Love

June 29th, 2017 by Karen 8 Comments

How many times have I said, “I’ve been going through a … phase”? A minimal makeup phase, a smoky eye phase (since forever), a cat eye phase, what have you.

I’ve been going through a red lips phase since, roughly, birth, give or take a few days, and $37 Chanel Dimitri is my latest red lipstick love.

Dimitri is a permanent color in Chanel’s hydrating Rouge Coco line. It’s a warm, semi-opaque red with a finish that begins as a smooth, luscious, low-level lip shine but starts to look more like a matte after 30 minutes or so, which is the coolest thing about it to me, because Chanel is sooo good at subtle shifts like that.

Chanel also loves little bells and whistles, and this beauty tastes and smells like pricey roses. If I’m lucky enough to still be around to meet Connor Claire’s little ones someday, I would love for them to remember me fondly whenever they catch a whiff of a rosy lipstick like this one.

Try it sometime with a shimmery taupe eyeshadow, ’cause the two look LOVELY together. Here I’m wearing a Chanel cream shadow called Talpa.

Your friendly beauty addict,

Karen

I am going through the same phase for a few years now. Red lipstick just goes with everything!

Gawd, this is makin’ me crazy. Talpa and all the other new shadows from Chanel are launching in the UK tomorrow! Can hardly wait. Feel like being at the store 5 mins before opening time, haha!! Plus, as always, you look fab & this red is gorgeous. Have a red lip on myself at the moment! It had been too long, feels good to wear it. 🙂

That is a shade of red that I could handle. I also love the Chanel Rouge Coco formula. I have the shade Mademoiselle and love the way it feels on my dry lips. It also lasts longer than many of the lip formulas I own. I may have to indulge since I ordered the new cream shadow in undertone and am awaiting it’s arrival. I too have been more minimalist with my makeup, especially this time of the year.

    Have a good weekend!

Oh yeah, haha. And another thing, cuz since your post, I obvs kept ruminating on Chanel. I’ve been hoarding Sari Dore, Emilienne, and Olga from that Rouge Coco collection. Ever tried any of these? Curious about your thoughts. I love all three, so I just pick based on my mood. Might add Dmitri next. 🙂

Why do you hate my wallet? HAHA! Even though I have a weak spot for Chanel, this color is not for me, thankfully. Please don’t find colors that ARE for me! 😉

I went through a hardcore red phase when the Gwen Stefani/UD collection debuted last year? I still like a red lip but not everyday.

A red lip always makes me feel put together and I think it looks good with minimal makeup or a full face, jeans or cocktail attire. I try to wear a nude lip sometimes, but I always feel like I look washed out. I’m definitely gonna try that Chanel!
    P.S.
I feel the same about red nails!

About Makeup and Beauty Blog

Welcome to Makeup and Beauty Blog
Hi there! I’m Karen, your friendly neighborhood beauty addict, and I’m a Bay Area girl who hoards brown eyeshadow and covets coral lipstick. Every morning, I wake up and say, “I’m going to do something other than a smoky eye today.” Then…I end up doing a smoky eye anyway (most days). When I’m not putting on makeup, taking pictures of makeup or writing about makeup, which I’ve been doing daily since 2007 (!), you’ll find me hanging out with my hubby (“El Hub”), my three-year-old daughter (Connor Claire) and my kitty supermodel cat (Tabs).
