Quick shout-out to a quad I’ve been loving lately! — Chanel Les 4 Ombres Tissé Vendôme.
I wear the two browns and the beige the most, and the lighter golden taupe-brown has a sheen finish. It’s fantastic for simple, elegant washes of color on the lids.
You can buff the darker brown (which also has a sheen finish) into the corners for depth, but I usually like to keep it simple and wear it as a liner, applied with either a wet or dry angled brush.
The satiny beige comes in handy for soft, subtle highlights on the brow bone and inner corner.
That coral shade is actually pretty handy too! Pair it with coral or peach blush or lipstick. I like to blend it onto the mobile part of my lid (the area that moves when you blink) to highlight that area and bring it out a bit more (helps my eyes look less hooded).
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

The Quintessential Karen Quad!

It’s a workhorse. You know I love me some brown eyeshadow!
Although I’m thinking of wearing something colorful today… I gotta get out of my rut, ya know?
Christine says
Have you tried the naked lid/colorful winged eyeliner thing yet? I love doing that with a purple/red or green/blue and adding hint of glitter on the naked visible lid.
Karen says
I have but not lately, and when I do it, I never quite feel like I go “big” enough, ya know? I’ll give that a go sometime this week with my Urban Decay On the Run palette (the best!!!!).
Thank you for the inspiration!
How’s your week going, by the way?
Christine says
UD’s colors should work for this look perfectly!
Besides the distressing events as of late, things are going well. I’m not only back at the office everyday (yay for concentration, focus, and productivity), but I’ve been temporarily placed in a vacant judge’s chambers so I am in a space all by myself in a nice corner office with views of blue sky and palm trees!! It’s the closest I’ll ever be to being a judge LOL.
I hope you’re all staying safe and doing good things for mental health. xo

Oh that’s wonderful! I’ll have to imagine the beautiful Hawaii sky in my mind… It’s been quite rainy and dreary here. I’m thankful for the rain but I neeeeeeeed the sunshine.
Happy Aloha Friday to you!

Yes! Yesterday’s look sent me scurrying to my Chanel drawer to see if I still have Vendome. For a little while I thought I might have decluttered it. Phew, I didn’t!
Don’t seem to have Malice in my blush collection. Does it have any shimmer in it?
Have a bright, beautiful, sunny day!
Karen says
Glad you were able to find it! 🙂
If you look closely at Malice in the pan, it looks like it might have some shine, but on skin it reads as a matte. It’s easily in my top 5 Chanel list. Been wearing it for years.
Enjoy the blue sky!

What I didn’t mention yesterday, was that after going through my Chanel collection I went browsing the Chanel website. Think I might need a few things. Like Malice, the Boy brow pencil in gray, some of the new lipsticks… Even though I don’t buy as much now that Peter Philips is no longer the creative director for makeup, I still love me some Chanel.
Karen says
I do too. There’s something about wearing Chanel that makes me feel good.
BTW I am super obsessed with Black Wood Stylo Yeux at the moment. Even though it’s not an exact dupe of MAC Coffee it’s still a beautiful blackened brown pencil!

These are beautiful colors, and each one of them totally wearable. I have been wearing almost exclusively neutrals this last year, with all the change around they were my makeup safe haven.
Karen says
Yes, neutrals are the best! So useful and beautiful.
Aditi says
I really like that you pull out the oldies in your collection that look well loved. It reminds to love what i own rather than going after the new and shiny.
Karen says
YES! You’ll find treasures when you shop your stash!

So beautiful and you know I’m a sucker for Chanel. 🙂 I’m hoping when I lose that 30 lbs on my soulcycle that my lids will be less droopy and I can look halfway decent wearing eyeshadow again. Though I probably would have had better luck and saved some cash by having the blepharoplasty. HAHA!
PS What did you get for a stationary bike? The SC is killing me and I’m only doing beginner classes!
Karen says
I got a Sunny stationary bike. It’s pretty basic and no frills, but it does the job! It has a spot on the handlebars that I can prop my iPad on, so I find classes on Youtube and fire them up and just do them whenever I want. I actually just finished one right now. 🙂
Also those stationary bike workouts are hard, lady! Good for you for trying out the beginner ones.
Kim says
My coworker got that, too! She said the same about the spot to prop up her phone. She got the Peloton app and has been doing that. I think they’re all killer!
