How Would You Describe Your Signature Makeup Look?

August 24th, 2008 by Karen 45 Comments

My signature makeup look is a simple, subtle smokey eye. I call it signature because I wear it all the time, LOL! It takes no more than 15 minutes to do, and I think it’s appropriate both for work or a night on the town.

How would you describe your signature makeup look? If you have a picture of it hosted online (I recommend flickr or photobucket), post a link to it in the comments, or send it to me in an email. I’ll put ’em together in a fun future post with all of our signature looks! Who knows? Maybe Tabs will make an appearance in his slimming stripes. 🙂

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

Neutrals! I love neutrals because they are so easy to work with. I’ve recently joined the jewel tone bandwagon but more than 50% of my makeup is in neutral colors.

What is Tabs’s signature look? I guess it’s cat eye?

my signature look falls into two categories – day and night.
day – very sheer, bronzer dusted with taupey-bronze eyeshadow and mascara, a dab of nude-y lipgloss.

night – either one of two options: 1) dramatically smokey eye, pale lips, or 2) red lips + cat eye done up with liquid eyeliner

Cat eyes for the day and a smoking hot red lipstick to match at night.

Mine is perfect skin, nude lips, and really dark eyeliner only on the top lid, with a huge flick. I don’t have pictures but I’ll try to get one today.

My signature make-up look must be a neutral eye with Too Faced/Shu/Paula’s Choice eye shadow and bold-to-neutral lipstick 🙂
Some days I spice things up though, and try new stuff, but usually only at home.

My signature look is a fast (less than 5 mins) neutral eye with pink lipstick or gloss. If I want to dress it up a little I add a sparkley bronze liquid eyeliner (from Victoria’s Secret…I’m in love with it!)

Of course lately I’ve been experimenting with lots of other looks. But brown and bronze is where I started.

My signature makeup look is neutral eyes (often involving my go-to Bobby Brown nudes eyeshadow palette) with brown liner and black mascara, a hint of rosey blush and lip balm. People don’t wear a lot of makeup in my work place, so keeping it discrete feels most appropriate. I like to do a smokey eye and put on some lipstick for night though!

On a different note: I just returned from a fabulous vacation in Hawaii, and have to thank you for all the brilliant tips from your site that I’ve taken advantage of! Not only was the breakfast at Boots and Kimo’s excellent, but I got to stock up on some products that aren’t available where I live – such as Aussie Protect&Shine (that saved my sun-and-seawater-exposed-hair), Neutrogena moisture shine lip soother (every water bottle ended up tasting watermelon-y fruity, LOL) and Chanel Aqualumière lip shine (which I can get at home, but is sooo much cheaper in the US). Thanks a bunch! 😀

My signature varies from day to night as well… Unfortunately sometimes the day look is kinda lax…:-) I’m always rocking something on the eyes…and a nude or light pink glossy lip. The night look is just a more dramatic version. So anyway I can’t find any decent pictures of a night look for me…LOL it appears that when I go out I typically end up taking pictures when I’m drunk and not only are they not always super-flattering, but also they tend to be not makeup showing shots…either I’ve been dancing and I have a glow of sweat…or in a couple I’m not really even looking in the right direction. ANYWAY… here’s the link for Signature looks: http://s292.photobucket.com/albums/mm25/mtw20852/

So btw…another reason to drink that Emergen-C (I had mine this morning because I couldn’t sleep last night) http://www.realage.com/ct/eat-smart/food-and-nutrition/tip/6702

i would have to say my signature lip color would have to be a neutral and always a gloss! i use to wear matte red lips 10 years ago without any fear – any red too – fire engine to a day appropriate brown red. Now I put on those same reds and I feel like a hooker (no offense to ladies that wear red now)and I wish I could wear it again. I do my eyes smoky but with neutral colors and black or brown liner on the top lashline – it’s only been recent that I have introduced colors, not to mention butt loads of shadows, into my palette. Since my sister introduced me to this site I have become bolder with my eye shadows and that’s a challenge because I’m a new mom!

I’m a recent convert to the whole makeup thing (at 45, no kidding!!), and after several “makeovers” by various and sundry beauty lines, I’ve settled on something that works for me.

Tinted moisturizer (I combine my EL individualist with my Neutrogena Visbily even moisturizer)

A little blush on the apples, hairline, nose tip and chin (EL tenderblush in Nude rose)

My eyes are subtle, using brown, cinnamon, and pearlish-gold highlighter, IMJU fiberwig (3 coats), and stila eyebrow pencil.

Lips are blue-red stains patted on veryyyy lightly with my fingertip, after lining with a reverse lipliner. I blot, and love the flush that it gives–very natural looking.

I could have said “natural”, but it wouldn’t have been so much fun!

When I go out, I add a bit of black eyeliner and a nice coat of a red stain plus gloss on my lips.

I use different colored eyeshadows all week but the one thing I do keep consistent is my liquid liner. I wing it out a bit and at night I like to add some pencil liner on the rims of my eyes. I also use gloss a lot (instead of lipstick) since I like to play up my eyes. Here’s my pic:

MAC Bare Study paint pot or Bare Canvas paint , Jete shadow all over, Satin Taupe in the outer V with a little Down Brown or Wedge in the crease, Stila’s black eyeliner on the waterline, Diorshow mascara, BE foundation with NARS orgasm on the cheeks, Benefit’s Hoola Bronzer and a little MAC Oyster Girl or NARS Turkish Delight on the lips 🙂

Signature look? Bare Study PP with Stila Barefoot Contessa in the crease and some Ricepaper as highlight. Black mascara and Peaches blush. Just some lipbalm and sometimes I add a bit of taupe eyeliner on my bottom waterline.

My night looks are always different ^^ But a staple is me playing with Mutiny pigment (it must be love, babe)

I’ve never had it with straight guava juice, but i have had it mixed with Pineapple Orange Guava when I was in a hurry and had to get juice in the cafeteria at work instead of home.

The one in the blue tank top is the most recent, but even it’s a few months old. My hair is just now starting to reach the top of my shoulders… but really that’s just the longest layer… honestly sometimes I feel like my hair just gets bigger and not longer. It’s actually doing well though. I got it reshaped and trimmed in July and I thought I was going to lose it before that cut where it was growing out kinda weird. I was wearing headbands like every day… but since then, it’s growing into the new shape well.

here’s a link to my signature look (and my darling husband). I’m very much an au naturale lady, burts beeswax chapstick, a maybelline mascara to plump and lengthen my lashes (although it doesn’t always do both), and very clear healthy skin (I’m a devotee of cetaphil, especially the daily moisturizer with spf). the main part of my signature look is definitely the red curly hair q:

I’m very pale, so my signature look is very even skin with rosy cheeks. As for my eyes, I fill in my eyebrows(they’re still natural-looking though, but it does wonders in balancing out my face)and do nude eyeshadow with white eyeliner on my lower lid only, and long lashes. On my lips I do a sheer reddish raspberry lip balm (Neutrogena soothing lip sheers in ruby bliss).
Okay, as I’m reading it it sounds strange. But it really does look quite natural, just kind of rosy and healthy. The white eyeliner actually doesn’t look extreme, it actually nearly blends in with my skin and just makes me look very awake.
