How to Apply Liquid Highlighter

January 12th, 2009 by Karen 29 Comments

I wanted to make a little video showing how I apply liquid highlighter, and wouldn’t ya know it? — I decided to do it today, a horrendous day for my dark circles, yippee!

It’s just been one of THOSE days…

Lovely tut as usual! I was wondering if you could post before/after pics if you have a minute? I’m thinking about buying High Beam and I’m wondering how much of a difference it really makes – it’s a little hard to tell in video quality!

    Thanks either way, hon!

I’m going to try this with Revlon Skinlights. I have a tube and I am never quite sure what to do with it. Thanks!

    Hi Karen,
Thank you so much for the post! I’m going to buy high beam 🙂

I just tried Queen Helene’s Grape Seed Extract peel mask…and it is pretty awesome. My face feels refreshed and my pores look so clean! The peeling was kinda gross to see, but it worked!

I love High beam and Moon Beam for highlighting.
I also recently learnt that the Touche eclat is not a concealer but a highlighter (thats why it never worked on me) So ive started mixing it with my beams for a nice less shimery result.

Your Brown, purple eye look you posted by the way is your best look ever. Its so soft and sultry!!

    Hi Archelle,

You’re welcome! I use to have a tube of Skinlights years ago and I remember really liking it. I hope this technique works for ya. 🙂

    Hi Vanessa H.,

Queen Helene makes some great drugstore skin stuff! When my face was super oily I loved their Mint Julep mask. The peeling one sounds neat… and weirdly satisfying. 🙂

    Hi Tali,

Sooo many women love Touche Eclat. It never quite worked for me, either. Maybe next time I go to the makeup counter I’ll try doing some mixing, too. 🙂

Oh, and thanks for saying that — I was having an off day yesterday and I just couldn’t tell if it was/wasn’t working because my camera decided to go nuts, LOL.

You are so adorable! I used to be infatuated with that liquid highlighter but my oily skin said no so I’m sticking to the powder for now 🙂 It’s really amazing how a bit of highlighting here and there can change how you look.

    Hi Glosslizard,

Aww, thanks! Now if only there was a way to spend time sharing virtual snacks like chocolate, LOL!

High Beam is such an old school goody. Have you ever used it with Benetint on the cheeks?

Wonderful vid, I’ve been thinking of investing in some highlighters so this really helps. I love your FOTD as well, gonna have to rock that look when I get back to school. And OMGeez. Speaking of a JLo glow, did you see her at the Golden Globes? She was one hot mama in the gold version of that infamous green/blue dress she wore years back.

Oh, and I must confess: I kinda like her perfumes, too.

Ah, I don’t really have a favorite highlighter but the mineral glows that I have seem to do the job quite well.

    Hi Karen,

I was just wondering when in the whole process you’re supposed to apply highlighter. Is it before or after foundation? And if after, is it before powder? I’m a make up rookie..
