I’m Finally Trying Zoeva! Here Are My First Impressions…

April 1st, 2016 by Adia Goss 34 Comments

zoeva first impressions

So, I have been wanting to try Zoeva makeup brushes and cosmetics for the longest time.  I’ve seen so many bloggers and YouTubers rave about them — the pigmented eyeshadows and gorgeous brushes — and the day has finally come. I’m finally trying Zoeva!

I wanted to share my excitement with you guys, so I filmed my first impressions in this video:

I also have photos and swatches of everything I talk about in the video (down below), so that hopefully you guys can get a good idea of what Zoeva has to offer.

ZOEVA History

“ZOEVA is a German brand, founded in 2008 by Zoe Boikou. The brand name ZOEVA is composed of ZOE, the Greek word for ‘life’ and EVA, the very first woman. From a basic range of only 10 makeup brushes, ZOEVA now offers a professional portfolio of over 50 makeup tools and 100 colors for a full face makeup routine. Our products are designed to make a real difference in the way women experience their beauty rituals.”

“ZOEVA is dedicated to the self-confidence and unique beauty of all women. Every ZOEVA product is made with love and designed with conviction and passion for makeup. Our ultimate goal is to offer luxurious, high quality products. Helping every woman to discover her individual beauty is our highest ambition. ZOEVA means celebrating yourself and being aware of your individual beauty.”

Zoeva Luxe Color Blushes in Burning Up and He Loves Me, Maybe

For size comparison, here are the Zoeva blushes compared to NARS and MAC blushes:

Zoeva Luxe Color Blushes in Burning Up and He Loves Me, Maybe swatches:

L: He Loves Me, Maybe and R: Burning Up

Both of these blushes are incredibly pigmented, smooth and easy to blend.  I can’t wait to try these!

“Women in need have a special place in our hearts. We feel responsible for women suffering from domestic abuse or have lost their hair due to chemotherapy. It is our highest ambition to strengthen their self-esteem and to give them more self-confidence and awareness of their own individual beauty. In women we trust. From the bottom of our hearts.”

Zoeva Nude Spectrum Blush Palette

Zoeva Nude Spectrum Blush Palette swatches:

Clockwise from the top left: ND 030, ND 020, ND 040 and ND 030

As you can see, these are pretty close to my skin tone, but I think the first and third colors could still be pretty blushes.  On lighter skin tones, this could be an amazing neutral blush palette!

Zoeva Luxe Cream Lipsticks in Cross My Heart and One Wish

Zoeva Luxe Cream Lipsticks in Cross My Heart and One Wish swatches:

These lipsticks are so smooth and pigmented! I got this amazing color from just one swipe.  I’m super impressed with the formula so far.

Zoeva is one of my favs, for sure. They have been for years. I’m a little sad because they discontinued my favorite brush of all time, the *regular* Crease Brush 228, which is now the Luxe Crease Brush. The bristles were so much better in the original. And although their LE brushes aren’t as nice as their standard line, I think their products are some of the best out there.

Oh, I hate when brands change something that I love! But, I’d have to agree with you that the quality of Zoeva is pretty impressive.

I’ve been really wanting to try out her brushes, but my OCD doesn’t like white-hair bristles because they’re an eye sore when they get dirty. So, I’ve been holding back and waiting for her to release some with black-hair bristles. I’ve heard so many good things about this brand. It’s such a shame that my OCD won’t let me get them!

Joyce, I totally feel you! I do not like the look of dirty brushes either, but after playing around with the brushes, I have to say they are really good.

Adia, thanks for doing this article and swatches, and the video. I’ve seen a few Zoeva eye palettes on blogs, but not this one. I haven’t seen the blushes or lipsticks at all. Everything looks beautiful! This eye palette is right up my alley. I haven’t tried Zoeva yet, but I think I definitely will.

I think it’s definitely worth a purchase (or two), even considering the shipping charge to the US. BTW, I really liked your comparison of the two YSL foundations! I was wondering about how the new one differed from the old, so thanks!

The first set of brushes I bought was by Zoeva, and even though they look quite different from the ones you can buy these days, they are still going strong more than seven years later and stood the test of frequent washing and traveling very well.

I’ve heard good things about Zoeva eye shadows. I’ve been wanting to try things, but I’ve been doing “No New Purchases” since the beginning of the year. As hard as it is to not buy anything new unless it’s to replace something I’ve used up, I do appreciate CC bills where I don’t have to pay anything. If my resolve breaks, I think something Zoeva might be the first thing I go for.

I want to try zoeva. I have a huge list of what I want to try … cause shipping is high. However, my current credit card balance is prohibiting me from ordering lol. I will try them soon though

Can you feel the struggle people from not the USA have? 😛 The shipping is always so high. In Germany we don’t have Too Faced, Tarte and others. Some brands are only in a couple of department stores.
But I’m happy that Zoeva is actually german and for once we germans are in advance 😛

But it is definately worth it! The prices are reasonable even though they raised the prices which is unfortunate. But you get a really good quality. I have the Naked 1 and 3, a NARS and a MAC palette and 4 Zoeva palettes and the Zoeva ones are my most used ones.

I also have one blush which I really like.

And thanks to Zoeva I have really good brushes. The brush market in Germany was not very good but thanks to Zoeva we have not expensive but high quality brushes 🙂

I stop my excitement for this brand now 😛

Maybe you can convince a friend or two to buy something aswell and you can split the shipping 🙂

Maria, I definitely feel your pain now! I guess we Americans are spoiled with all the free shipping that we get, so I guess it our turn to feel the burn with Zoeva. But, I actually think that even considering the shipping, the prices are fair because the quality is great.

As a brush fanatic who owns far more brushes (from all price points) than I do make up I have to say that Zoeva makes the best quality work horse brushes I own. My favorite brand of all time is Hakuhodo but Zoeva is a close second. I can’t recommend them enough. I would love to try their make up but truth be told I really hate their shipping costs so when I make a purchase I make it count. Great review on their make up. I really would love to try their palettes.

Oh wow, I’ve always wanted to try the Hakuhodo brushes but could never decide what to get. But, now I don’t feel as pressed to get them since you rate the Zoeva brushes so highly! The shipping is tough on the wallet though, but that’s the only bad thing I can say about the brand.

    Hi,
I was wondering if you could please compare the zoeva nude spectrum eyeshadow palette to Mac warm/ neutral x15 eyeshadow palette. Is the zoeva a good dupe for it, texture, pigmentation, quality wise?
    thanks
