You’re the Fairest in This Tale With the Benefit Rare Beauty Kit

Mirror, mirror on the wall, who’s the fairest of them all?

Benefit has an answer for that, and the answer, my dear, is you. 🙂

It’s movie magic time! — and this fairy tale is all about value. The new Benefit Rare Beauty Kit ($45), a limited edition set released to celebrate the launch of the upcoming movie, Snow White & the Huntsman, comes with products to re-create Snow White’s makeup look from the film, and to keep everything safe from the evil queen, a cute and convenient makeup bag.

The $45 Rare Beauty Kit includes…

  • A full-size bottle of Benefit POREfessional Primer (regularly $29)
  • One full-size tube of BADgal Lash Mascara (regularly $19)
  • A sample size of Benetint liquid blush
  • A sample size of High Beam highlighter
  • The makeup bag!
  • A booklet with a number of tips and tutorials
  • A card with QR codes to access behind-the-scenes footage of the makeup artists working on the set of Snow White & the Huntsman

The movie hits theaters June 1, but the kit arrives online at benefitcosmetics.com April 17 and to stores and counters in May.

I’ve been really looking forward to the movie since seeing the trailer a couple weeks ago. It looks intense and frightfully medieval, like a tale told to mischievous children hundreds of years ago to keep them out of the big, bad woods. 🙂

By themselves, the two full-size products would have made the kit a decent value, but the samples, booklet and case make it much better. The bag’s roomy, too, and cute, and when it comes to makeup bags, I can always use another (they’re kinda like shoes that way; one can never have enough!).

I’d hoped we might see some new pieces in the kit, along with the re-promotes from the permanent line, not just because of the movie, but because Benefit has such a knack for creativity and packaging. A Snow White-themed palette or a magic mirror, perhaps?

Not this time, I guess. This kit’s all about value.

PRICE: $45
AVAILABILITY: Coming April 17 to benefitcosmetics.com, and to stores and counters in May
MAKEUP AND BEAUTY BLOG RATING: B+/A- (a good value and a cute bag, but I would have liked to see a new product)

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

P.S. Miracle of all miracles, we made it! The weekend is (almost) here.

I hope you did something fun tonight. Right now I’m watching Role Models on TV (has Paul Rudd in it) and recovering from about two pounds of taro fro-yo.

I was expecting a new product or a more makeup makeup kit. I guess Kristen in the movie is a more down to earth looking character, so it makes sense for her to not have much makeup. But for people like me, who have most of the things from this kit, this is probably a pass.

Though I must say, the bag is adorable!

Since I don’t have any of these, this looks like a great deal to me. I’ll be on the look out for this set 🙂

Taro fro-yo? Sounds cool! But I’d pass it up in a heart beat for some Paul Rudd, yum yumm (particularly clueless-era)

I’m a little sad the set is just a value set, but hey, at least it’s a good value! Benefit usually has good value sets, esp around the holidays, with full size products in some. A little compact mirror would have been so cute, I bet Benefit would make an adorable one!!! That’d make the set 100% awesome.

Oh, call me shallow, but just the bag itself makes me want this set! Long-time Benefit fans will probably find nothing new in it, but to be honest I haven’t owned any of these products so it might be a good set to start!

That is indeed good value. I’m so looking forward to this movie. I love the trailer!

I love Benefit’s Porefessional Primer! It actually covers my pores and makes them appear less visible (temporarily). <3

I wish Benefit would stop including badgal mascara in all their kits. I have a zillion of em and I don’t even like the formula.

Amen sister! I am NOT a fan of bad gal mascara. In fact, it is the thing that is putting me off most about this bag. I really wish they would have included at least one new item. Even so, if they would have included They’re Real mascara I might have bought it.

I’m kind of bummed out a little bit that there wasn’t any new releases with it. I was hoping for something different, but nowadays I feel like Benefit is getting less creative and sticking the same products over and over again into similar sets.

The bag is cute, but I have most of the products in it already, heh.

Oddly, this movie looks pretty cool. Not a fan of Kristin Stewart, but maybe she’ll surprise me.

I adore the bag (even though I already have too many)! I’m always, always a fan of value sets and I don’t have any of these products so this could have potential for me.

I wish BeneFit would change up their kits a bit! Seems like every kit they make has some portion of the same 10 products in it.

I was looking forward to this and was expecting at least a full size benetint. The badgal mascara is not my favorite. I already have highbeam and the porefessional does nothing for me. I am pretty bummed about this kit, especially at $45. Guess I’ll be saving my money for something better.

I think I’ll be passing on this set. I feel like I’ve seen too many similar kits from Benefit. I like the bag but there’s no way I’m spending $45 on a cosmetic bag.

I wish I could wear The Porefessional, but the smell is too much for me.

The bag is adorable, but it would have been great to see some new, fairytale themed product. Or even see some of the old products in new packaging (Benetint in an apple-shaped bottle?) As it is, I think I’d rather get the Pretty Committee set instead.

It looks like Benefit is trying to appeal to a new generation of customers through this Kristin Stewart kit, but I don’t know any pre-teens that have $45 to drop on one makeup purchase. They should have done a $45 makeup set based on Charlize Theron’s “BadGal” look. Now that would have been fun.

I’m really disappointed with this set. I was hoping like a special kit eyeshadow kit inspired by this movie. I’m really disappointe din it.

Ahhhh I must have this! The bag alone looks amazing yet alone 2 full size products. I’m saving up now.

Love it and it will be mine 🙂 I was also hoping for a special eyeshadow set as well … maybe a grey called the huntsman! Still love those products already!
