You Have the Right to Glow Quietly with NARS Miss Liberty Highlighting Blush

October 18th, 2011 by Karen 57 Comments

Wearing NARS Miss Liberty Highlighting Blush on my cheeks and drinking a pumpkin chai latte!

Let’s band together, fellow makeup revolutionaries, and declare our freedom from big chunks of glitter! — because we, the blush lovers of the world, have a right to life, liberty and the pursuit of a subtle glow.

And this year, victory is ours! Demure, shimmery cheeks are just a NARS Miss Liberty Highlighting Blush ($27) away. After you don a few layers of this sheer, shimmery peach, don’t be surprised if you suddenly feel the urge to raise your fist, power-to-the-people style. I did (and then quickly lowered it when I remembered how long it’s been since I shaved my pits, whoops!). 🙂

Miss Liberty, a member of the NARS holiday collection corps, calls attention to cheeks without shouting. A warm peach speckled with tiny pieces of silver glitter, it beautifully balances both color and shimmer.

nars miss liberty blush

It’s one of those colors that just makes me feel alive, and I think it’s a perfect shade for a soft cheek glow to wear with smokey eyes and/or dark lips.

PRICE: $27
AVAILABILITY: Coming soon to NARS counters, and available now online
MAKEUP AND BEAUTY BLOG RATING: A+

UPDATE 10/18/11, 21:15PM: I’m happy to report that Operation Pumpkin Chai Latte was a success.

I popped over to Starbucks on my lunch break today and ordered myself a soy pumpkin chai latte, which, I guess, is actually a pretty common request, according to the barista who helped me. She also said that it’s her BFF’s favorite Starbucks drink.

Lo and behold, it tasted like pumpkin pie in a cup! Which is good because I love pumpkin pie. So good, in fact, that I plan to get another one tomorrow. 🙂

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

Is it better than the other highlighter Nars launched in Spring, New Order?
Because I bought that and it was a glittery mess, I barely get colour but I get gigantic silver chumks of glitter in my face (and I mean in every single pore of my face). It was a disappointment that I am afraid of Miss Liberty and I will have to order it online so, what do you think?

      Hi Aida,

I kinda liked New Order… This new one is a lot more quieter; it’s more sheer, and the glitter pieces aren’t chunky. They’re small and more refined. I really like this blush. I think it lends a fun, subtle glow to the face. You can definitely see the glitter (even though the pieces are small), so if that’s an issue, it might not be for you.

Love the blush, I’ll have to give it a try! With the cold weather settling in here, I’m in a crazy Xmas-y and sparkly mode!

Also, this weekend I shall try the pumpkin chai. Not sure they have it in the UK though, so many delicious drinsk we don’t get here.. 🙁 (we do, however, get a much higher price tag sigh)

I have lived in Berlin during my years at Uni. I felt home as soon as I landed and made some friends that I still like to visit. I also love to just visit all my favorite places there. LOVE that city! Since its only 1 hour away by plane and quite cheap I like to go a couple of times a year. Its a city that makes me very happy.
The lovely spanish island Mallorca is also VERY lovely! That was no doubt the best vacation of my life (august 2011).
Shopping-wise I also liked London very much. Would definetly go back.
That must be my top 3 right now. I have never been to USA, but would love to. Thats a dream to come true hopefully.

Subtle glitter? Perish the thought! HAHA! Miss Liberty is actually very pretty and I’m sure it’s a coincidence that the Starbuck’s mermaid kindasorta looks like the Statue of Liberty on your cup. 🙂 That’s awesome that you found a Pumpkin Chai. I’m loving the idea of pumpkin pie in a cup!!

Man, it was BEYOND good. It took a lot of willpower not to go back and get a second cup.

Now if somebody would invent pecan pie in a cup I’d be set!

And LOL re: subtle glitter. I know you like yours big and flashy… but this might be a nice contrast to the rest of your collection!

Oooh, that sounds good, too. The pecan pie, not the subtle glitter. 🙂 Kidding, of course. Do you think that Orgasm has big glitter? It’s sad that I have to ask that, isn’t it?

Somebody seriously needs to invent that drink. I know I’d buy it!

As for the blush… the regular NARS Orgasm has glitter, but it’s very refined and subtle like this one. If you want big, blingy glitter then what you need is NARS Super Orgasm:

          https://www.makeupandbeautyblog.com/product-reviews/nars-super-orgasm-blush-less-glitter-please/

It’s got big ol’ pieces of glitter!

Oh, thank goodness – I thought I might need an intervention. I wear Orgasm everyday (I know, boring) and was looking at it thinking “it doesn’t look like big glitter to me, but what if other people think I look like a disco ball?”. That would actually be kind of funny, but I wanted to see if I had an appropriate glitter perspective! 🙂 I originally did swatch Super as well, but thought it might be a bit too warm for me, iirc.

    Karen,
How does Miss Liberty compare to Deep Throat? It looks lighter so is it strictly a hightlighter even on pale girls? Also, you gotta try a Big Train Vanilla Chai–it tastes like Irish Cream–not that I know what that tastes like 🙂

The first picture (your nom face) definitely got me laughing after a hard day at work, because my friends always say I make that face when I taste something amazing! I’ll ask my friend at Starbucks if they make them too, cuz I will totally pig out on those for the rest of the season. My Starbucks also makes something called a Caramel Apple Spice Latte, I know some stuff changes from location to location so I’m not sure if yours makes those too, but they seriously taste like apple pie and coffee had a love child… It is SO amazing.

Just wondering, how long does Miss Liberty stick around on your skin?
