Victoria’s Secret Beauty Lipglosses: I Heard a Rumor, and Her Name Was Chanel

May 15th, 2008 by Karen 23 Comments

victoria-secret-beauty-lipgloss-rumor

Have we met before, Rumor lipgloss?? I feel like we have — perhaps at a party, or a makeup counter, or a party at a makeup counter?

The words “Very Sexy” appear stamped upon your sleek black cap. They tell me you belong to Victoria’s Secret Beauty’s lipgloss line, but, Rumor, I feel like I know you from someplace else…

Where, Rumor…? Where have I seen you before?

I know!

Chanel Candy Glow, right? You’re her long lost twin!

When I first held both Victoria’s Secret Rumor lipgloss and Chanel’s Candy Glow together in my hand, I thought I was seeing double. From a short distance away, both coral pink shades look almost identical, but up close I can see that Candy Glow has just a bit more gold sparkle than her twin does.

And the similarities don’t stop at the colors. Rumor even feels, tastes and wears liked Candy Glow does on my lips — same shiny finish, same non-gooey feel and same two-hour staying power.

Of course, there is one huge difference between the two: *price*. At $12, Victoria’s Secret Beauty’s lipglosses cost less than half as much as Chanel’s Aqualumiere glosses do ($25)!

If you’ve been lusting after a tube of Aqualumiere but haven’t wanted to throw down those dolla-dolla-bills-ya’ll, then check out Victoria’s Secret Beauty’s Very Sexy lipglosses. They have “great bargain” written all over them.

Very Sexy comes in 20 shades. Look at all the pink!

Have you seen the new tri-tone VS lipgloss? It’s a stunner! I might even grab one untested (Gasp!) since you reviewed these so positively!

Hope you’re stayin’ cool today! It feels practically Arizona-esque out there! 🙂

I got the clear VS lipgloss in a free set last Christmas and I liked it. It wasn’t molasses on my lips and had a scent that I liked… just can’t remember what it smelled like. I’ll have to go take a look at these colors in the store, they seem promising! 🙂

I can’t believe I missed the barbecue yesterday! You’ll have to throw another one sometime.

I have this gloss in makeout, and even though it takes some wrangling to get it to look nice (definitely a gloss you have to line before), I really love it. Such a great color, consistency, and wear. The beauty rush glosses from here are great too. Great lippy for just hanging out with friends. Victoria’s Secret makeup impresses me so much more than I thought it would!

    Hi Glosslizard!

Nope, I haven’t seem them. I will now have to check ’em out — you and I are usually on the same gloss wavelength, so I’ll prolly like it.

It’s hotter than an armpit up in my house right now! On the positive side, I may have just lost five pounds because I’ve been sweating so profusely.

Did you spend any time outdoors today with the imps?

    Hi Carla,

I haven’t tried the Very Sexy perfume. I used to wear Dream Angeles Heavenly back in the day, but it’s been a few years. I still like it though. Although I’ll aways love Chanel, too, I like trying other lines, too!

    Hi Bridget,

Awww, you’ll have to come next time, for sure! I love BBQ’s and picnics so we’ll have a few more in the next few months! Maybe we’ll “go” to a late next, since in Nor Cal you can’t go swimming at the beach (boo).

I wonder if we have the same lipgloss. Mine is unscented, but that could be ’cause I can’t smell anything (my nose is totally stuffed up — terrible allergies today).

    Hi Holley,

You have the shade I want to get next! I’m glad to hear you love it. I could see how the bright color would require the liner beforehand though; definitely not low maintenance, but it’s pretty.

I am started to like the beauty line, too. Have you tried their liquid glitter liners? I am not really a glitter person, but for some reason they speak to me. 🙂

    Hi Iheartmakeup!

WOW that seems like a pretty gloss. I am really loving the orange/coral shades for summer. What does it feel like on your lips? Sticky?

Outdoors? Um… no. We sheltered indoors (we have an excellently placed tree for this kind of weather) where it was relatively nice and cool!

It was kind of funny, actually, I was obsessively sunscreening today since it was so hot, and yet I probably saw less of the sun today than most days!

Very very pretty…and I might pick one up at that price even though it only lasts 2 hours. Actually I might be putting myself on some serious makeup probation in the near future…but it’s a good thing…

    Hi Glosslizard,

I love shade trees. Do you have an old one in your yard?

Oops, I forgot to wear sunscreen during my run this evening. Good thing it was sunset.

    Hi Iheartmakeup,

Oh, that is a bargain. I don’t have a counter nearby but I do remember seeing the display in Sephora. LOL, if I was near you I’d so visit your counter and buy it while you were working!

    Hi Megan,

I hear ya on the probation. It’s hard though, when I see stuff on line on sale. (AGH!). I am trying to save for an upcoming trip and for my birthday. I think I’m going to treat myself to a nice, white purse.

How long will lockdown last? A month?

LOL actually…it depends on a few factors…ummm so I’m getting ready to buy a house. How’s that for adult huh? (kkinda scary yes)ANYWAY how much i spend may impact my makeup budget…but it’s worth it to get a nicer place and sacrifice a little bit of mascara and eye shadow. The budget friendly tips may be my new best friend. Actually… in all honesty…I could go for a long time with just buying mascara and my tinted moisturizer when they run out…now could I maintain that kind of self-control? I don’t know.

    Hi Kay-Tee,

The Rumor lipgloss doesn’t have a lot of shimmer. It should look very non-glittery on you!
