Grab the Keys to the Bentley and Your Tube of Tom Ford Beauty Lip Lacquer in Pink Lust

Who might like Tom Ford Beauty’s Lip Lacquer in Pink Lust? Hmm…

  • Someone willing to drop the scrilla on three pairs of Choos, and would do it without batting an eye.
  • Someone who drives the Bentley to Rite Aid to get a Mother’s Day Card because the chauffeur has the day off.
  • Someone with an in-house beauty team at her beck and call (NOTE: Mariah Carey has one, which does not surprise me, and it furthers my theory that MiMi is a kooky, yet misunderstood, genius).

In other words, unless your upper makeup spending limit hits three or four digits on the reg, most guys/gals will probably find Tom’s $30 pearly pink gloss, as gorgeous as I think it is (especially with a tan), really, really expensive for what you get.

Why?

Because it’s $30 (!), pretty sheer and only lasts about 30 minutes. Tops.

Like a MAC Cremesheen Glass’s ritzy cousin, it has a similarly thin, smoove formula and texture, similar vanilla flavor and scent and a super shiny finish.

Do I like it? Most certainly, yes. I think it’s a beautiful, flattering nude pink gloss that makes sense alongside the rest of Tom’s summer 2013 collection, but I’m not sure it’s worth 30 bones…

Maybe, depending on your makeup budget, or if you just feel like throwing caution to the wind and treating yourself to an extravagant gift.

What up, Wednesday?

Brr… It’s cold in here! And overcast, so I’m bundled up in a Zella hoodie and sweats at my desk.

Um, where’d the warm weather go??

Of course, now that the temperature has dropped, the neighborhood pool has finally opened…

Gotta love it when the universe has a sense of humor. 🙂

I’ve been looking (and psyching myself up) for a new swimsuit this week, but here’s the thing: I’m okay about wearing a bikini to the beach where I’ll be surrounded by strangers, but I’m not as keen about wearing one around my neighbors…whom I see day in, day out.

Is that nuts?

Anywho, I’m thinking about some cute retro one-pieces over at Anthropologie.

What do ya think? If you find any cool swimwear this year, let me know.

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

Looks nice, Karen! And I like that top you’re wearing (or at least what I can see of it). Those swimsuits look pretty, too, but I am more of a bikini girl myself.

Thanks, it’s a dress by Young Fabulous & Broke. I just wish it was warm enough to wear it today!

I’m also more of a two-piece, but I’m sooo not into my neighbors seeing my goods, haha.

Hi Karen. It is pricey for something that lasts only 30 mins. Its a beautiful day here, 70 degrees. I’m about to run to a beauty supply store with a friend to pick up some new hair products and maybe a nail polish or two (although my husband completely banned me from buying any new ones, lol). I love the swimming suit on the left. I think you’d look great in it.

Lucky! I just got back from taking Tabs out for a walk and it’s super chilly here right now. I’m not feeling it, LOL! You’ll have to send me some virtual nice weather. Let me know what nail polishes you get! I’m about to head on over to Sephora to go look around. 🙂

Yeah, this lip color doesn’t do much for me. And those swimsuits are really cute!

I’m not much of a gloss-wearer, especially for that price.

Swimsuits are cute! I like the one pieces, but my torso is usually too long, but I don’t have a bikini body, so I do tankinis usually.

Oh yeah, I don’t know why I forgot about tankinis! That’s a great idea. I think J. Crew might have a few cute ones…

I would prefer to get a Tom Ford lipstick instead of this, at that price! If at least it was a pigmented bright shade or something more unique.

Oh it’s so pretty! But $30 for 30 minutes? Not sure it’s worth a buck a minute!

    I’m Mariah’s hugest fan… TOTAL GENIUS!

Pretty color! But unless a money tree starts growing in my backyard, I’ll probably pass on this for now. 🙂

Last year I found a couple of cute suits and Lands End. They were one-pieces and had good tummy control. I blame laziness and chocolate for my lack of a six-pack. 🙂

      Hi Ruchita,

I had a money tree dream once and it was AWESOME. Best dream ever!

Oh, I like Land’s End. I’ve bought a couple or random things — jackets and whatnot. I’ve never tried their swimwear! Do they hold up well?

I’ve only had my suits for a couple of summers, but I think they are good quality. I often see discounts and coupon codes for Lands End, so you might be able to find some good deals!

I got a couple of super cute retro-style swimsuits from ModCloth.com a couple weeks ago. Love them! Both are halter-style with a low-rise leg and ruching on the bodice (one is navy, the other is red w/white polka dots).

No no no! The color isn’t awesome enough to spend $30 on. I can find fifty dupes at the drugstore for a tiny fraction of the price. The bathing suit that is low cut is adorable, the other one, I think is a bit on the frumpy side. A tankini is the way to go, flattering, easy to swim in, and not too revealing!

I think I’m going to look for a tankini. Hopefully I can find a cute one!

Holy cannoli, that’s a lot of cash for a 30 minute gloss! I think it’s pretty, but it doesn’t knock my socks off.
I like the swimsuit on the left 🙂

    Wowza–30 mins?? Pass. That’s too bad. :/

Oh and those swimsuits are SO cute! I could totally see you rocking the one on the left–adorable! I am in LOVE with a JCrew bikini I saw in the catalog the other day but man it’s pricey and I’m a bit broke at the moment :/

So pretty but pass if it lasts thirty minutes. For thirty bucks I can buy 6 nyx lipglosses that last 3 hours. But if you can keep a secret… ill admit that i would spend the thirty dollars if the packaging was beyond cute!!!! Such a sucker for packaging.

I think Tom Ford might be the devil because I want everything in this collection. I’m actually glad that this gloss is so pricey and that it only lasts half an hour. The poor wear time is the only thing keeping me from buying a tube. 🙂

You’re totally not crazy about wanting more coverage around the neighbors!
