NARS Shows a Softer Side With the New NARS 413 BLKR Blush Duo

The new $42 NARS 413 BLKR Blush Duo, coming August 1, 2015

Whenever I think of New York, I think of that majestic, awe-inspiring Manhattan skyline, busy sidewalks, edgy street fashion and a go-go-GO hustle and bustle (among other things), but every city also has a softer side, and that’s the side I see when I see the latest addition to the NARS 413 BLKR fam, the new 413 BLKR Blush Duo ($42).

No, 413 is not a pager code, and your boyfriend did not just mess up telling you that he loves you (hands up if you get that reference!). It’s the location of the first NARS flagship store in New York on 413 Bleeker Street in the West Village, and it’s the inspiration for the existing NARS 413 BLKR collection.

Even though many of the pieces in the 413 BLKR collection have a certain city grittiness about them, like they REALLY want to be worn with an all-black ensemble complete with leather jacket and biker boots (you can see it here), this new blush duo, with its sparkling pink sand highlighter with gold and silver shimmer on one side, and a pearly golden cherry blossom pink on the other, has a fresh, almost naive vibe.

In makeup metaphorical terms…you might say it’s like a bright-eyed newcomer arriving in the city with big hopes and dreams. 🙂

Wearing the NARS 413 BLKR Blush Duo on my cheeks

On my medium skin tone (I wear NARS Stromboli foundation for reference), I use three layers of the blush, which I’d describe as moderately pigmented, and two layers of the highlighter. That creates a cheek blush color that looks like a pink peony in full bloom, and all told, I get about six hours of wear time. Oh! — and even though the pearl in both powders is very finely milled, I’d go a little easy on it if you’re concerned about getting shimmer all up in yo’ pores.

Keep a lookout for the new NARS 413 BLKR Blush Duo when it arrives at NARS boutiques and the NARS website August 1.

PRICE: $42
AVAILABILITY: Coming August 1 to NARS boutiques and the NARS website
MAKEUP AND BEAUTY BLOG RATING: B+ (a soft and pretty, moderately pigmented pinks with a pretty good wear time)

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

Oh, Nars blushes, how they make me want to buy all of them! This is really gorgeous on you, and I think it would work well on my fairer skin!

It does look very fresh on you! I think they’re both pretty colors that should flatter most skin tones.

*raises hand bc I got the reference* These do look lovely on you (but what doesn’t?). Again, all that matters is that I got the reference. That’s my takeaway from this post 🙂

Pretty! But not really the kind of colors I get weak in the knees for.

I was surprised at how pretty this is on you (based on the pan and swatch and forgetting that everything looks good on you – HAHA!). It has a real spring vibe to me so I get what you’re saying about the bright eyed, newcomer. 🙂

I am old enough to get the pager ref but never had one. I barely turn on my phone now unless I need music or the internet. HAHA!

Ooh! Pretty! I think it would work on my super pale skin, but I’d still want to swatch it and test it out first. I usually run away from shimmer as fast as I can (at least in my blushes).

I like the soft shades, but somehow these don’t look to special to me.

Very pretty, I like how well it shows up on your skin. I’d have to swatch cause it might be too much.
