Nails Will Sparkle Like a Disco Ball Wearing Deborah Lippmann’s Holiday 2011 Collection

Not even strobe lights could compete with the glare from the glitterific shades in Deborah Lippmann’s latest collection of nail lacquers. I hope you’re ready to pump up the jam, love, because this disco ball’s droppin’, haaay! It’s time to hit the dance floor with Deborah’s holiday collection. :)

This ode to sparkle and shine, available now, contains six separate nail polishes, four limited edition and two permanent shades ($16-18 each), and the $42 three-piece Get This Party Started set (with full-size bottles).

Today my nails took four of the individual polishes and the entire Get This Party Started set out for a joy ride. With their fun flecks of glitter and rich metallic finishes, these colors are just begging to be worn on a dance floor.

Deborah Lippmann Nail Polishes for Holiday 2011 ($16-18 each)

Shimmery red Do Ya Think I’m Sexy, glittery gold Shake Your Groove Thing, glittery graphite I Love the Nightlife and iridescently glittery Stairway to Heaven catch and reflect so much light that I think I was almost hypnotized!

Having a clear formula should make these limited edition shades (Stairway to Heaven’s base appears slightly milky) great for layering with other polishes, perhaps atop a base of shiny red, silver, gold or gunmetal gray, but I think they sparkle just as well when worn alone.

Set aside at least 30 minutes for these, though, if you want to cover your nails entirely with glitter as it may take five or six coats to get a good distribution (on account of the clear formula/base).

Get This Party Started Set ($42)

My favorite part of the collection. :) It comes with three full-size bottles — Deborah’s famous Happy Birthday shade (a mutli-colored glitter in a clear base), and two new riffs on the shade.

The first, Candy Shop, is Happy Birthday in a sheer pink base. The second one, Forget You, combines Happy Birthday with a sheer black base. I love both the contrast between the small and large pieces glitter in all three of these, and how it gives the group of them extra dimension. I also just like how fun these colors feel. We’re talking light rays and disco balls here.

Here are swatches of four of the individual shades and all three polishes in Get This Party Started. In each of these, I’m wearing two layers (without a base or top coat).

Kesha, We R Who We R

Biggie, Hypnotize

Miley Cyrus, Party in the USA

That “shake your groove thing” gold sparkle shade looks dead on to my Milani Jewel FX Gold Polish I got from Target a couple of days ago for 3 bucks! (3-4) can’t remember.

  3. Amanda says:

I wanted to like Stairway to Heaven sooo bad but it’s wayyy to sheer to spend that much on a polish :( But I’m actually loving Deborah Lippmann’s mini Dance Music trio the most, the polishes are so gorgeous and more affordable since they are minis :)

  4. AH!!! They look SO good. I have been wanting to get my hands on “Happy Birthday” for the longest time and I think with Xmas coming up, I have to! It’s just so beautiful – something about it reminds me of my childhood days though – remember how little girls used to LOVE glitter nail polishes? So much fun!

Candy Shop reminds me of a cupcake with sprinkles…but I feel like if you just get Happy Birthday there’s no point int buying the whole set because you can put it over whatever base you want.

I’d give up a limb for a few of these… I can’t lie. And while I hate to admit it, I totally feel you on the music. At lot of Kesha’s (I WON’T spell it wrong. I just won’t.) songs are incessantly catchy.

  7. D-Y-I-N-G. These look fabulous! Here’s to hoping for a post-holiday sale on the Get This Party Started set :P

I have the perfect dupe that is budgetproof for Happy Birthday. It even has more glitters in it than the original one.

  13. Kim says:

Being a fan of disco balls, I totally love these! :) I think Forget You looks fantastic on its own and anything with a clear base would be great layered on top of another color. I just ran across an ad for Essie’s luxeffects which is a similar concept – metallic top coats with smaller flecks of glitter. Looks like it’s going to be a blingy holiday for nails! :)

If we’re not judging on the party hits, I’ll say DJ Kool’s Let Me Clear My Throat, Buckcherry’s Crazy B*tch, House of Pain’s Jump Around and Poison’s Talk Dirty to Me. That said, it’s hard to get me off the dance floor so as long as it’s not slow, I’ll pretty much rock out to it. :)

  14. PinkGlitter says:

OMG I need Candy shop. So so so pretty! I was thinking that the color reminded me of some type of candy and I scroll down and see it’s named Candy shop. :)

Ooooh! Definitely picking up Get This Party Started!! Looove the trio and already have outfits in mind! lol!! My booty shakin’ songs would include Lose Control by Missy Elliott, Drop It Low by Ester Dean and Whine Up by Kat Deluna. My boys and I have random ‘dance it out’ moments. I love how they don’t care where we are and will bust out dancing…at least for now. ;)

  16. Nina says:

soooooo sparkly and soooo pretty! :-)
